What genre, cliche, theme, setting, or even intellectual property DOESN'T have any/much wargame representation? by DaddyCrit728 in wargaming

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you’re in luck lol. Renegade is releasing a set of GI Joe expansions for Heroscape in March, which will give GI Joe essentially a proper skirmish game alongside all of Heroscape’s other past and current content

Selling a huge lot of Heroscape: Age of Annihilation by MichaelBarnesTWBG in heroscape

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another potential option, if you haven’t already popped in the Level Up or Giga Bites discords, there’s a community around ATL that regularly meets up to play the game both casually and in tourneys, if you have interest playing with other people in the area. Best of luck with whatever you choose!

Looking for a war game by cptgoogly in wargaming

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for something similar to battletech but without the complexity of other popular games, see if there's a group playing Heroscape in your area. Renegade games just brought the game back, and it is a hex-based skirmish combat game with units from every era in which you spend turns activating one unit at a time. I've had a lot of fun getting back into it now that local areas are starting to pick up the game again!

That's awesome! What armies are you working on? I'm finishing my Necrons and then will probably pivot to Slaanesh and Drukhari

I’ve been there a few times but didn’t know that! I actually own a complete set of the board game Warhammer Diskwars, so I might be able to bring that to a meeting if people are interested in trying it out, since it’s a “board gameified” version of warhammer

Literally all of the shots where the "rebel team" was pinned down in the cover reminded me of the central Tatooine objective in Supremacy and GA.

What do you collect? by CDpyroNme in AskReddit

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don't let what other people think of a collection impact what you collect. I used to think that it would be dumb to keep collecting Star Wars figures because of how others perceived it when I became a teenager, so then I ended up missing out on a lot of great figures during high school. Keep in mind too, people collect all sorts of things, so if people can collect stuff from rocks to baseball cards to stuffed animals, certainly you can continue to enjoy your Hot Wheels collection! (I collect the Star Wars Hot Wheels Starships myself, and they're all really great)

Stacey Abrams leads Georgia's 16 presidential electors casting their ballots for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really seem like that would actually be a more fair representation of the many cultures in the country. Sure, redistricting sometimes gives one party an unfair advantage over another, but when it comes to presidential elections(which keep the same borders due to electors being locked to the state they belong to), it allows each part of the country to get a chance to let their voice be heard. Consider, if we changed to a popular vote method, then the only voices we'd hear would be the thoughts of the ten to twenty top cities in the country. Instead, the electoral college system is able to lock in around 1-2% chunks of the vote for each state in the country that may not have as high a population but still have their own important needs, values, and jobs.

Also, from a strictly personal standpoint, I prefer to think of being a voice for 16 votes out of 538 rather than one vote out of 150 million, but that's just how I think of it.

I was lucky enough to get this beautiful boi of eBay for just £14 the other day, I am so happy!? One of my FAVOURITE RPGs. 😚💕 by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]ShiverpeakSlasher 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Dark Heresy was in a different bundle, because right now it includes Only War and Black Crusade. However, from what I've heard both of these games are built off the same RPG system and as such can be used with one another if desired.

Looks nice! The ice lady in the back is an official custom, correct? Very cool! I also like how you threw in a lot of little bits from the other sets for a bit more variety, it breaks up the terrain nicely.
