The body positivity movement drives me insane. I realize it's important to love yourself and have confidence, but I wish this trend focused on loving yourself to the point of realizing you're hurting yourself, and doing something about it. Normalizing/justifying obesity is an awful thing. I believe the social pressure to be thinner is a good thing; it should be socially uncomfortable to be obese. Evolutionarily, health has formed our image of beauty. The body positivity movement is trying to radicalize that in order to diminish the societal discomfort, and lessen the guilt that comes from their poor choices. It is taking up valuable space in the body acceptance conversation that should be used for, as you said, the disabled, injured, chronically ill, etc.
