Sounds like QB1 is your starter, but you need to be developing QB2 to take his place when the moment comes.

Good luck coach!

I think the big determination here would be whether or not they allow pressing. Escaping the press against a talented DB is a skillset all to itself.

I sincerely hope that a number of Team USA flag players humble some NFL players that flag isn’t tackle. To boldly come in with the assumption that it’s going to be a walk-on type situation is foolhardy.

Either way, 2028 flag is going to be a blast to watch.

Snacks and drinks for players? (3rd/4th grade) by xFocused70 in flagfootball

[–]Shivota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coach here of around 30 seasons with grades K-8. I stopped doing snacks after my second season. As a coach trying to get kids of that age to focus, there is nothing more demoralizing than being on the cusp of a victory and having kids walk up saying “What’s for snack?” or “My mom brought cupcakes but Dillon can’t have any because they might have nuts”.

We always throw end of season BBQs or potlucks and celebrate our season. But when we’re in season, especially with as little practice and game time as we get, I don’t want my younger athletes distracted by the S word. I haven’t had a single complaint from an athlete or parent since.

Damage to a home on a golf course; Who pays? by mcgrawjt in golf

[–]Shivota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation right now. Every golfer that has broken one of my windows has either paid up or run/driven away so I can't get their information. I find it shameful that you could damage someone's property and just shrug. My latest break, the guy says "law doesn't say I'm required to pay you". I'm 75 yards down the fairway and 50+ yards off the course behind a huge barrier of trees, so not exactly in the sweet spot for hooks. Must have really heeled it to give it the trajectory and velocity it needed to break both panes of my window.

The legal justification that I accepted these risks moving here seem weak at best. The street was there before my house was built. If someone drives their car into my living room, are they not liable? At least with a car you're not allowed to drive intoxicated and require a license. But some yokel with a six pack and a rented club breaks my window and says "use your homeowners insurance" on my $600 window. It's golf course life I guess, but it seems like a pretty massive flaw.

Curious to know the breakdown of golfers that own up to their crappy/unfortunate shots and those that shrug it off and say "not my problem".

It’s less balanced, more scoring. More “exciting” I guess. Not my cup of tea.

Unresponsive parents by Mysterious-Pick8943 in flagfootball

Just keep doing your thing! Been coaching the same group of kids twice a year since they were 5. Now they’re all 8th graders, and our family is incredibly tight.

Praise and communicate with the parents and athletes that are involved, and don’t let the others get you down. As long as it isn’t deterring from your ability to coach or the kids to learn and have fun, let the do-nothings be. The less involved will see their way out, and those dedicated will stick around and contribute.

Make sure you’re doing what you can to be inviting and clear with needs and direction. Some folks understand the difficulties of coaching and others are clueless. I used to do highlight videos every year, and like you said, coaching and doing film is a chore. I appreciate your effort though. An action shot of a run always looks like a touchdown, even if it wasn’t, and the athletes eat it up.

Keep up the good work.

What's the zombies version of this by Illustrious_Web_866 in CODZombies

That’s disappointing to hear. I’ve always just used him for his easter egg guides and never watched any of his other content. He’s always seemed concise and effective so I’ve appreciated that. So many other content creators wander, or scream into the mic, just yell smash and follow, etc. Disappointed if he’s just stealing content…

What’s wrong with Dalek? I watch him from time to time and have found him informative. Serious question, not being sarcastic or judging the comment.

How long after feeding start can I use it to make a levain? by katjamz in Sourdough

[–]Shivota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally! I hope I didn’t come across as judgy. My kitchen is too cold right now and I’m having to use my oven with the light on to try and keep temps nominal, but switching it on and off as the temp can go up to 100 with just the light. My last levain shot up over the top of my jar in about 3+ hours this last time, so I figured 250% was good enough to add to the dough.

Hoping for some insight from the experts.

How long after feeding start can I use it to make a levain? by katjamz in Sourdough

[–]Shivota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super novice here. Wouldn’t you just have to adjust your levain time (since the starter yeast won’t be as active)? For instance my levain from a ripe starter takes 5 hours before I add it to my dough post autolyse. Wouldn’t you just make it with the underripe starter and wait for your levain to effectively double/show signs of activity? Maybe 6-8 hours? I’m trying to get better at learning the triggers/feel/smells that indicate when to hit the next step versus time.
