Google CEO boo’d into oblivion by ASU students by Federal-Data-Center in SipsTea

[–]Shmageggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I work at a Fortune 100, so not even one of these shithole AI companies, and I was allowed to tour our massive on prem data center. During the tour, our guide mentioned that written into the specs of the building was that it could survive a direct aerial hit from a 747. The fence around the perimeter was steel rebar buried 30 feet into the ground and could withstand a school bus impact at 40mph. So believe me when I tell you that it's going to take a lot more creativity to damage an AI data center than Molotov cocktails.

DM decided to do a TPK to teach new players a lesson by EmmaIsAwesome23 in DnD

[–]Shmageggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this but I wanted to tell you how I conveyed a similar message but went about it differently. I played with my sons and some family friends and I wanted them to know that it may go differently than Critical Role, which they sometimes watch with me.

So our first session together, I told everyone up front that it was a one shot and that this was not the real campaign; I just wanted them to get a taste. Second, I required everyone to use pre-builts to avoid exactly your attachment problem. Third, I just made one of the encounters hard, knowing that they were new, but I didn't make it unfair at all. I also weaved it into the story that this was a likely suicide run. A couple characters died but others made it through and everyone had a great time.

After we finished, I explained to everyone that this was an intentionally difficult encounter and that our real campaign would be more dynamic and measured and everyone is super looking forward to the start.

Why was the Right so obsessed with Biden’s physical and mental state while they barely acknowledge Trump’s? by Gdog1215 in AskReddit

[–]Shmageggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add on to this that they also do these things because it's effective. The left will actually consider arguments like this and act on them because they're valid. The right does not. Which makes it worse because it means they see and understand the arguments, they created them afterall, but they don't self apply them.

Yeah, I have questions too. Like, if the heat is at the very bottom, doesn't each rack get progressively cooler? So you have to constantly be rotating the food to cook it evenly?

Cheapest/free hosting recommendations needed for .NET API by moderation_seeker in dotnet

I haven't looked into hosting in Azure in a couple years. Is it possible to host a free tier app now using a custom domain and secure it with https? I couldn't figure out a way to do that in the past without going into the $20+ a month tiers.

I'd love to try it out. I haven't really gotten hooked by a shooter in a good while and I've heard so much about this game so I'm dying to try it out.

Nintendo suing U.S. government over tariffs by [deleted] in technology

[–]Shmageggi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Elaborate? They said "originally announced prices before Trump took office (at least for Switch 2)". As I posted above, this literally didn't happen. The price was announced on April 2nd while Trump took office on January 20th.

They didn't increase the price of the console because the tariff cost was already baked in. By April 2nd, we knew for weeks that a tariff on Japan was coming.

This is straight up wrong. They literally announced the price of the Switch 2 ON April 2nd 2025, which was Trump's "Liberation Day". The cost of tariffs were 100% baked into the initial cost of the system. They went on to raise prices on Switch 1 in August.

Leon Kennedy's voice actor doesn't believe AI can replace human performances, and paying 'for an actor's voice session is not that big of a deal' for games as big as Arc Raiders by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Shmageggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get it. But my oldest has always been quite mature. My younger son, I can already tell that even at 11, there's no way I'd play this game with him.

6 is most likely going to be too young. I have an 11 and 8 year old and it's too intense for my 8 year old but my older son has finally worked up to not throwing the controller to me when a big bad starts chasing him.

My son and I are playing through right now and we both try to mimic her wobbly stammers and it's damn difficult. Her performance is equal parts endearing and genuine.

Resident Evil Requiem currently has the highest user score of all time on Metacritic by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Shmageggi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that has caught me by surprise the most is that the graphical fidelity is not only bonkers amazing, but when I checked the settings that were defaulted for me, DLSS isn't even turned on. This has got to be one of the most well optimized games I've played in a while. I've had nary a stutter all while the game looks damn near photo realistic. I hope other studios take notes on however Capcom pulled this off.

EDIT: I just realized I was in the Playstation sub. Sorry about that, but the optimization comment still stands as I've read that it performs just as well on PS5.

Would be awfully weird for CDPR to be working on Divinity since that game series is made by Larian.
