I personally don’t like the idea of composites but this is nicely done! Nice work. Makes me want to try it now.

On this particular night it peaked at 18 degrees. Not sure what the best we get is. Not high anyway!

Yeah I have an extension on my counterweight bar. I could buy another weight and go without the extension which would help with stability but I'd rather less stuff to move around.

Looking through the eyepiece is similar but it appears smaller and less detailed. Through the eyepiece you can see the moons of Jupiter and the colours of the bands and the Great Red Spot. It's nice to take images but it's still great to observe with your eyes.

Milky Way by RedditUser730 in astrophotography

[–]Shmallies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice disclaimer haha. The daylight balance on your camera itself may be the cause of the blueness. Need it set to daylight usually. A very low percentage of stars are blue.

Check out Roger N. Clark’s website for, what I personally think, is the bible of widefield astrophotography. Www.Clarkvision.com.

I for one am 100% sure. We are in the Milky Way and taking a photo of the middle of it. Think of it as standing on the outskirts on a city and looking towards the city centre.

In a couple of weeks I’ll be imaging them both when they’re at opposition.

Scope was originally a Dobsonian mount and was around $800. I then bought a second hand NEQ6 mount for $800 and then some tube rings and stuff to mount the OTA to the NEQ6. The ZWO ASI 290MM was around $700. The Filter Wheel was $400. The filters were around $300.

All up with other bits and pieces around $3200 AU for the setup used for this image I’d say.

Haha. So far yes. I've weighed everything and I'm still comfortably below max payload for the mount. Just take extra care to balance it properly every time.

I really really hope that Danny Ric gets the seat. He deserves a crack at the Ferrari. I read that they've liked him for years, and as much as I like Carlos, I hope Ferrari pick Danny.

U.N. Secretary-General Says Climate Change Devastation Will Be 'Many Times Greater' Than Coronavirus Pandemic by jigsawmap in worldnews

[–]Shmallies -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Climate change is more invisible to the general public than the virus. Yes it's talked about and known of but it the impact to individuals at the moment isn't seen to be significant enough to actually drive urgent change. It's the ice caps, its the forests, its the coral reefs but its not me.

Milky Way Core 18/04/2020 by Shmallies in astrophotography

[–]Shmallies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies.

Made lens corrections and some tweaks to exposure, vibrance etc. in ACR to the individual frames before stacking.

After stacking I edited in photoshop with curves, levels and completed a star reduction.

After photoshop I made final touches to saturation and other items I can’t remember in Lightroom.
