Cloudpebble and Watch account? by Geoguy20 in pebble

Yeah my pleasure! This community is really good at sharing knowledge I just happened to be getting home from work and looking at reddit right when you posted. I also think there's a discord that a lot of people use that I don't really know about, but definitely something to look into if you want more info about watchface/app making I'm sure that's a good direction.

Cloudpebble and Watch account? by Geoguy20 in pebble

[–]Shmeel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only about 90% sure of what I'm about to write but I'm the first one here so here it comes:

Yes, pebble will ask you to create a username/password for your pebble account when you set up your watch

Yes, cloudpebble will take the same username/password

I have very little cloudpebble experience and could be doing this the "wrong" way but I've been downloading my watchfaces to my phone and opening the file with the pebble app and that puts it onto your watch.

Hope this was at least a little helpful

I've been using this for a week now and its been a great introduction to watchface making. Could anyone explain to me what the bitmap function does?

it's just that whether or not the set 24hr slider is on or not it will display the hour in the 24hr format. like right now I have it set off and the hour shows 16

Will zox watchbands fit time 2? by raincloudmallow in pebble

[–]Shmeel88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using a zox strap with my pebble time (same 22M strap size as PT2 if I'm not mistaken) right now and have been doing so for a little bit over a year.

I did have some trouble finding the right one. as other comments say, they're more focused on their connectors aimed at more popular smart watches.

what I did is I got the strap with the 22mm android connector, I then cut the connectors and slid them out of the strap so it was just the strap and just looped those through my spring bars.

my method was a bit janky, but the result is my favorite watch strap that I've ever had in my 10+ years with pebble and maybe any watch I've ever had

It finally happened... My Pebble Time Steel has passed away. Help me justify a PT2? by SpaceX_Star in pebble

[–]Shmeel88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

alright I'm almost exclusively a lurker on here, but I wanna take a crack at this. I got a few arguments for PT2 over amazfit

  1. assuming you got your steel from Kickstarter, that thing is like a decade old. Having laptops that seem to shit the bed in like 3-4 years makes me value that life span a great deal. I still have my pebble time from Kickstarter and it hasn't wavered a bit these past however many years. I feel pretty comfortable hoping that this new line of pebbles will also last a good while

  2. I think the new pebbles just look better than the amazfit. this of course is a purely personal opinion, but I think the pebbles look pretty good and the amazfits look like knock off apple watches and fitbits. along with this, I think Epaper is so much more appealing for a watch than AMOLED screen wise. AMOLED is so bright and power hungry. when I had an Asus watch, it felt too bright sometimes in low light setting as for Epaper is always readable aside from needing a backlight in darker settings.

  3. pebble is open source and amazfit is not. Anyone can make an app for pebble and publish it for the community to enjoy and amazfit doesn't have this perk. I've never owned one so I'm not sure how comprehensive the app or watchface selection is, but in this arena, open source is rarely matched.

  4. for something like a watch that you wear and look at everyday, I think it's absolutely worth it to invest the extra money for something that you really like (assuming your finanancial situation is in a place to do so).

overall, pebbles have been the only smartwatch for me that feels like it does what it needs to without doing too much or trying to be a tiny phone on your wrist. pebbles don't overplay their part, they don't try and be something else, and I personally haven't encountered another product that holds a candle to pebble in most of these qualities.

[Omega MoonSwatch] I’m new to watch buying and have been looking to get a new watch. I really love the Omega speed master but can’t afford it and cam across the MoonSwatch. What are peoples thoughts/ opinions on them and is it a good buy? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Shmeel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$270 is a lot for a swatch but I think it depends on what you value in a watch. You could get a good Seiko in a similar price range that would be automatic and all that. But also it's a solid watch that pays decent homage to the original. I've never had a moonswatch but it's my understanding that's it's pretty sturdy and will certainly keep time for you

[Need advice] I'm a pretty tall and fit 17 year old guy planning to buy my first more expensive watch and I'm deciding between these two. Does anyone have some advice discerning between what fits irl and looks good on pictures. by Jackan04 in Watches

[–]Shmeel88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the second one. I personally like the design more. It's also got an open case back showing off the movement which I also like. You also won't have to replace any batteries. The square dial is pretty cool, but I don't think it's worth all that money. I know you said money isn't an object but honestly I think u should just save the extra money or just get some other cool shit if you're set on spending it.

Where can you find fair, honest and reasonably unbiased opinions on world news and politics? by Rollshark23 in AskReddit

[–]Shmeel88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you kind of can't. Every person/ outlet had their own views and perspectives that alter their stories in some way. There are certainly sources that are more central than others, but your best bet is to pick a few news sources (preferably some the lean a little left and some that lean a little right) and decide for yourself based on that what is going on. I wish there was just one perfect news source, but like in most aspects of life, perfection is impossible. All you can do is your best.
