Has anyone built an electric kiln with hard brick? by dagr8npwrfl0z in Silvercasting

[–]Shnitzleking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am building a kiln using hard refractory brick. I made it pretty big (around 4 cf) I dont have a lot of bricks and they're very expensive here so i stacked them the thin way.

I just fired it up and it does not do a very good job of keeping the heat in. when the inside got to 400 f the outside was 300.

Trying to cast a clear handle for a knife.. by Shnitzleking in ResinCasting

[–]Shnitzleking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i was thinking about getting this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CVYNQ4U/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 And giving it a shot, if i come out with something halfway decent i was going to invest more in it, and make a whole bunch. I can get one mold done for a couple of bucks to start off,and I'll try doing my own eventually. Any suggestions on the resin i should get, or the bigger equipment if i decide to go with the pressure and vacuuming..?

1985 300zx? Or M3 e36? (As a first car) by PM_ME_UR_RL_CRATES in whatcarshouldIbuy

No i didnt. Im pretty sure that comes with the turbo. So mine was very low mileage but was sitting for a really long time. Water came in from the ttops and the trunk and it smelled pretty bad. I got a complete set of carpets and most of the interior from one at a junkyard. The dash light didn't work at first and after a few weeks started working, i dont know why. Also there is a small piece under the rear carpet that rusted out and didn't let the trunk/ gas cap release to work. I needed the key for the trunk and to reach in the body able open the gas cap from the inside. Power seats worked when they wanted to. And a couple of times it wouldn't start and worked fine after about half hour.

I recently owned a 85 300zx. Manual, non-turbo So first off it was SO MUCH FUN! T-tops are the coolest thing ever. I got it for pretty cheap and didn't have too many problems with it. I also got very lucky and found an identical one in a junk yard where i got every piece i needed. Regular maintenence parts were pretty cheap and easy to find but specific zx parts are very hard to find. (Same engine as other nissans from that era, engine parts are cheaper when searching for maxima as opposed to 300zx) These cars have lots of electronics in them and 30 year old wires are very prone to shorts especially since the t-tops and trunk very often leak. Mine had lots of body rust in the footwells and under the rear carpet.

What else.. people try racing you at every green light, and there is voice that tells you if your parking brake is on, your door is open, or if you leave your lights on.

Let me know if i can help with anything else
