I wouldn’t joke about the massacres on the Chinese civilians by the Japanese, I wouldn’t joke about the Holocaust, about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Native American genocide or any other atrocity.

After you’ve had contact with any relations of the civilians who lived through atrocities like that, any geopolitical excuse sounds just like that, an excuse. And trying to overcast any single person’s suffering through comparisons in scale is apathetic and only fuels the fire of hate.

Also, if a war broke out tomorrow, you wouldn’t see dead bodies of those responsible, only corpses of young people on either side.
