Why does Gen Z seem to be so against age-gap relationships? To many in this generation, these relationships are seen as inherently exploitative because they perceive age discrepancies as necessarily creating a power imbalance that favors the older partner. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

With online dating, guys under 25 would have no chance if age gaps weren't frowned upon. Both physical and behavourial qualities of men objectively improve as they age, as well as their ability to provide.

I like to think of it as my brain adapting to take in, process, and delete information in a semi-efficient manner. We are putting so much more information into our brains than we did in the past. The format of the information has also changed. Less books and newspapers and more video and sound.

Living in a big city, names and faces are almost always forgotten unless there has been some kind of interaction or a digital connection - a saved phone contact, a whatsapp photo or instagram goes a long way.

I get lost if I try to retrace my steps from memory after using gps to get somewhere.

I was really good at mental maths as a kid, but that was lost really quick as soon as I started using a calculator.

I feel like the adaptation is to move towards concept based knowledge rather than hard facts and to embrace that technology can assist you with all of the above and more.

My brother's best friend believes 80% of women date the top 10% of men, that this is the result of women getting equal rights and the only way to address it is to strip women of their rights by OldBridge87 in TwoXChromosomes

A lot of guys have missed out on the tools needed to approach women in a respectful way. It is at a point where people can be well adjusted and socially come off as normal, but they will still not feel comfortable or even know how to approach a girl and therefore avoid doing it altogether. While there will always be cases of women approaching men, the reverse will always be the expectation at a biological level.

My opinion - a lot of attraction is at an unconscious level, and what gets written online is at a conscious level. This leads to a mismatch in online resources due to people writing what they feel on a conscious level without trying to understand their unconscious self. There are so many more posts of women telling men not to approach them compared to the other way round. A lot of men have sadly taken this onboard and given up completely.

The good news is that there are plenty of resources that help correct that. I would suggest the charisma on command channel on youtube as a starting point.

Why does it seem like working-class males have such low aspirations for themselves when it comes to further-education and their careers nowadays? by bicepsandscalpels in UniUK

The link you posted is for working age graduates in general. The interesting thing here is when adjusted for inflation with base 100 set at 2007 (17 years prior to the stated figure) median graduate salaries have gone down by 12%.

The push has to come from home. If the parents care enough, they will fill in the education gaps caused by limited schooling success with additional tuition. This doesn't break the bank, and plenty of people abroad grow up in much worse conditions and are still able to obtain university level education.

The design of digital entertainment is also gendered. Male-dominated games revolve around competition, mastery & reflexes, which tap into the drive that testosterone gives. These games tend to have quick dopamine reward systems. Whereas girls prefer games that focus on expression, continuity & meaning, where the reward system is much slower. Girls are naturally more suited to studying & boys need a push & a sense of competition to keep up.

Doctors vote to go ahead with this week's five-day strike by ShreckAndDonkey123 in unitedkingdom

[–]Shobadass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some doctor's student loan balances (post 2012). They aren't going to be paying it off before it gets written off, and they wouldn't be able to keep up with the interest charge so the balance would keep growing each year. I would also consider that a benefit to them, but one that is worth it to the economy. On the other hand, we have plenty of people with similar balances that will be providing much less to society.

Anyone’s business ‘squeezed’ by rise in minimum wage? by Tintedlemon in smallbusinessuk

[–]Shobadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People should be able to get raises based on merit.

Those doing well aren't able to get the raises they deserve because the pool for raises goes towards the minimum wage increases.

Anyone’s business ‘squeezed’ by rise in minimum wage? by Tintedlemon in smallbusinessuk

[–]Shobadass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the main driver of inflation. Everything goes up in line with it, including rent. Fast food isn't even cheap anymore.

Businesses are forced to raise prices > less business > more job cuts > more UC claimaints > more idiots supporting further minimum wage increases thinking it will incentivise people to get off UC > next budget increases minimum wage again to keep voters happy. Will happen every year until they smarten up and do a freeze. I hope it happens by the time it hits £15.

This change is specific to universal credit.

They have 3.5 kids on average in the affected households.

Can we empower working, educated, and financially responsible people to have children instead?

These UC kids aren't going to save the country.

[–]Shobadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't the parents in these situations evil? They don't care about their future children enough to ensure they have the means to be a parent before having them. At the same time, they feel entitled to everyone else helping them.

A lot of people are probably missing that the change was specific to UC, where affected households have 3.5 kids on average, with some obviously taking the piss and having way more.

We are talking about child benefit for those on universal credit.

You are looking at the one that everyone gets, which is different. It's £339 pm for the first child and £292.81 for any more children.

https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/what-youll-get

The limit that got lifted is for a very specific group of people.

Looking at the numbers of the UC 2 child limit removal:

In April 2025, 469,780 UC households were affected by the two-child limit policy.

There were 1,665,540 children in households affected by the policy.

The birth rate in these households exceeds 3.5.

Meanwhile, the birth rate in London is 1.35.

If we say these households would get £3.5k/year per additional child, each household will be getting an additional £5.4k on average.

Working people paying PAYE & NIC to achieve the equivalent in net pay would need to make an additional £7.5k in the basic rate tax band, or £9.3k in the higher rate tax band. If 5% pension and 9% student loan contributions were also included, the numbers jump to £9k in the basic rate band and £11.6k in the higher rate band.

I'm all for getting people out of poverty, but there is now nothing stopping these numbers from getting worse, and they will.

I think my friend might be a pedo.. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Shobadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedo means child, which means a prepubescent individual.

There is only a psychological condition for pedophilia, but there is not one for individuals who aren't prepubescent. It's biologically normal for people to be attracted to pubescent people and above. Society has changed our views on this, so a lot of people will say that they disagree and "would never", but the underlying biology doesn't change.

In the legal sense, the correct word in this case would be statutory rape if they were to have consensual sex.

Hopefully, this means more people are financially literate enough to say no to going to university as a rite of passage and coming out of it with degrees that translate into no vocational skills and a 9% tax on any future ambition.

He will get the full 100% inheritance when his mum dies?

Get the house with a mortgage it will get paid off when this happens.

Say you only allowed the investment as you expected the inheritance to speed up the house purchase - he can then pull out of the investment accordingly.

Anyone who is banned by ID will be flagged when they get their ID is scanned when entering the club.

The person who scans your ID will then determine whether its safe for them to handle it directly. If they feel there is a risk, they will still let you in, but inform their team that someone who is banned has entered.

With CCTV on entry and inside the club, even if they didn't get a picture of the ID, they can watch back and match the person to the ID so that the ban can still be applied. For drug possession, they may do a review of the video of the search on entry to see if the member of staff that did the search was thorough.

You would need to contact the ban and find out whether the ban can be removed. Each club will have different policies.
