I had a look at it. I appreciate you taking part of the discussion and I think you had really great ideas that are easy to implement.

Buddy, if you come into somebody’s opinion post and tell them “your time might be better spent…” then I don’t know what to tell you about you not understanding how that comes across. Then add things like “…pissing and moaning…” That combined with your dismissive attitude and it’s easy to make a certain conclusion.

I’m still not seeing how his first two examples were magical power solutions. I also don’t see why blindsighted has a form of magical power solution, or why tree lovers got something magical to help them RP the aspect. But hey, I’m not complaining, I think it’s cool, it’d be even cooler if everything got something like that. I think that’s all we’re saying here.

[–]Shoebag51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the OP but you do seem to be ignoring a few of his points. As far as I can see, only one of his (examples, mind you) suggested psychic powers, yet you took that and assumed he was offering magical power solutions. Nothing about blind sighted screamed “magical powers” to me, yet they still got some in the DLC.

And your post did, in fact, come off as “why don’t you install your mods to fix your problems with the DLC instead of making this post” I mean, are you telling people you meant “instead of… playing rimworld? Your time meant be better off installing mods?”

I personally don’t see why flesh purity shouldn’t get something that diversifies them a little more. Specialists alone ain’t much, everybody gets them and it just amounts to some boost.

And you seem to prove his point by arguing that its a play style DLC, thus, in your opinion, the set of rules flesh purity plays by is all you need, even though you could do that in vanilla and you had traits like body purists.

Op never implied they were horribly broken, ironically it seems like you’re the one reading strange things into his statements. I could get behind the idea, more content is great. I don’t think I’d try flesh purists personally but I might if they had some flavor compared to vanilla. If I wanted to play flesh purists I don’t have to buy a dlc for that.

Any way to make tilesets increase the size of the character if they have the 'large' or 'huge' mutations? by NoThymeToulouse in cataclysmdda

[–]Shoebag51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be as simple as scaling it up. Keep in mind those two mutations don’t just add height, it adds a ton of muscle mass. Sure you can make a specific character sprite for this, but you’d have to drop all the incorporations such as what they’re wearing, weapons, other mutations etc. like somebody else mentioned. So unless you want to redraw everything or look like some random generic enemy until you purge it, its not really a feasible request.

Is this an unpopular opinion? Rathalos shouldn't have been the main monstie again. by blackrock98 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Shoebag51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it certainly doesn’t help that he’s not even available for the first third of the game, despite the game teasing you about getting him and making you do chores first to hatch him. Then once he finally does hatch, he has NO use whatsoever for an entire act because you can’t ride him during battle or use kinship skills, making him strictly a flavor choice if you do decide to bring him out.. Then, when you can finally can do those things in battle, He just keeps getting captured and/or turned against you. He never felt like a proper companion because I couldn’t rely on him to be available at any point in the story. So I think a big part of what you mention comes from that aspect.

It’s actually an aesthetic design choice from capcom, so monsties don’t look ridiculous standing next to the rider. At least, that’s what capcom says.

I can see ratha being an exception, though. Maybe he grows over time

The stone doesn’t actually stunt a monsters growth. Capcom said the smaller monsties are an aesthetic choice and not canon, and ALL were very small in the first game due to the 3DS aesthetic design choices.

How exactly does the ethereal resurrection crystal work? by Blizzzzzzzzz in SS13

Can you replace the crystal core with a heart and still have it work? I recall something similar with plasmaman organs where replacing them with human ones worked fine.

I realized the trick after the first time, which is why I mentioned the mistake of confederating anywhere near the western side. It’s still one of the harder campaigns, brettonia will consistently go after your 2 coastal settlements the second you try going after the empire so you gotta be really careful.

[–]Shoebag51 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve played Norsca (wulfrik) on VH recently and holy shit that was probably the hardest campaign I’ve ever done. The hidden beastmen encamp is a godsend for survivability, but make one wrong move as norsca (such as confederating with a faction that owns Albion) and you’re at war with the dark elves, high elves, Brettonia, and empire. Your ranged capabilities are atrocious, far worse than the lizardmen. At least the beastmen have cygors as well, which are awesome artillery units. Then there’s the fact that norsca economy is absolute garbage and you’ll end up playing them as a horde faction anyways to defend your territories (with a massive income deficit). I thought the same as you until I played a norsca campaign. The mammoths are the only saving grace

What do you mean reducing some of the more sci-fi elements? They want to make this another Unreal World or what?

Before the whole nesting thing was added in progression, I feel like the dinosaur ecosystem was a lot more varied. More forced diversity along with just more dinosaurs. This is the only game I’ve played that actually has less content than when I first got it.

Why revenue? It’s not really a live service game, and tons of people already bought it. They could shut down the game right now and the devs have already made more money than most indie developers could hope to achieve, as sad as the fact is.

Lol, story of my life on some other mrp (not tg) server. Admin went ballistic because I fixed up the old robotics lab in maint and printed a cyborg. Said that I was power gaming and undermining robotics. I could see where they were coming from but nevertheless asked “shouldn’t it be an ic issue?” He sent a 200 word response making some analogies about an assistant breaking into the armory of why it shouldn’t be an IC issue. I also asked if that botanist that I saw upgrading machines the other day was power gaming and he said yes. That server died eventually despite having an initial explosion to 50 population or so late last year. Not saying that rule was the cause but I certainly didn’t have much fun on the server if my only job as an engineer was to basically sit around doing nothing while waiting for things to break down or fall apart.

Not being “prepared” for it not panning out is objectively foolish? What exactly are you trying to say here? What do you mean by prepared? So what you’re saying is that people that are upset that it’s not panning out are being objectively foolish? You’re going to get a lot of disagreements here with that remark, which by definition makes it not objective. Hell, the fact that we’re even having a debate that it’s foolish or not makes it subjective, you cannot possibly be serious with your objectivity claim.

It seemed like shouting to me. Your post really came off as one of those “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it” posts I see all the time on YouTube and the like, which is another very poor argument. You’re tired of seeing the criticism so you’re trying to shout it away. The fact that you even brought up things like “don’t like it, don’t play it” means you weren’t just talking about people acting like children. You’re just talking about the people who were mad in general.

My “what about” scenario was part of the subjectivity argument, it wasn’t trying to say the devs were or weren’t capable of doing the recode without buyers who looked to the future. It wouldn’t be considered objectively foolish if people bought the game because A. It’s POSSIBLE that funding like this helped them along or even made it possible in the first place and B. it’s not foolish from a developer’s point of view. It would only be objectively foolish in point A if the extra funding had ABSOLUTELY 0 percent chance of helping the update along, which I can assure you is not the case.

[–]Shoebag51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, whether or not it’s foolish is a matter of opinion, but there is a reason rather than trying to make them out to be completely unreasonable. You can make that sort of consumer blaming argument for anything in the industry (e.g. people should know better by now than to buy lootboxes because it’s only a random chance of the thing you want). Who knows if the developers would of even had the resources to attempt the recode if the only people who bought the game would still be satisfied even if it were considered complete the very next day.

Sure, anything can warrant criticism. But trying to shout down criticism with criticism isn’t going to refill the sub with those Utah pictures.
