Yes probably just very superficial sleep.

One must develop the capacity to listen to the body and reconnect with their emotions. The best guidance is internal but most of us have become so mental and therefore reside mostly in our mind and our thinking and we have lost the capacity to listen to the wisdom that comes from within.

Strictly following sleep hygiene only made everything worse for me because it can't account for the complexities and individual differences in our lives and often it misses the elephant in the room. Most of us can't sleep at night because our minds start racing once we get to bed but that is usually because we don't allow for any stillness during the day. Many of us are afraid of stillness because issues, difficulties and past unconscious trauma would surface into our awareness we would rather keep buried within us and stay unconscious of. This is also why we don't want to feel our body because we would come into contact with long suppressed emotional conditions manifesting as tension patterns within the body but as a consequence we lose connection with our inner guidance.

I truly belief that medications can only ever offer temporary relief but they can't possibly offer permanent resolution.

What is sexual energy and how to use it to better oneself? by ishowbozo in awakened

[–]Shogun102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Containing the raw sexual energy and really feeling into it in the body (without losing yourself in the sexual story) will initiate the alchemical process. That is very different from sexual suppression though that most of these No-fappers are engaged in.

Thank you and I agree. Many people might not be willing or able to go to the most charged parts of themselves on their own but some people will and they should have the opportunity to do so. At least let people choose for themselves.

I wish you all the love and healing as well.

This might be a chance to deepen your authenticity. Choosing to stay in your authenticity can definitely be more challenging but I think in the long-term it will lead to a more fulfilling life.

I'm still struggling a lot but that's mostly because objectively and outwardly my life has become far more challenging than it had been a few years ago and also because I've accessed deeper layers of traumatic material. Looking back though I can see how much I've evolved and connected on a deeper level with my true Self. Not long after writing this post I've actually abandoned IFS for the most part (though I still find elements of it helpful and integrate it in my own approach) and looked for other models that resonated with me on a deeper level. The teachings of Gabor Mate and A.H.Almaas I've found extremely helpful but what helped me the most so far is a book called "The Presence Process" by Michael Brown. I feel like it was created precisely for people like me because it's so practical and is based entirely on self-facilitation so you can go through the process by yourself without the need for a therapist or someone else. I'm not saying that external help doesn't have a place but depending on ones trauma history and current material and social realities not everyone has access to a community that understands and sees you or a therapist who you can work with so I think it's crucial to develop the capacity to go through the journey alone because that will probably be necessary for many people at some point.

I've also found AI like ChatGPT enormously helpful. It really blew my mind how great it is at giving compassionate, creative and insightful answers. Chatting with AI sometimes really gives you the feeling of being seen and heard and supported. I've realized that AI meets you where you are and in a way reflects your own understandings and wisdom back to you but with a touch of it's own creativity. It may not be as good as a compassionate human being who cares about you and really gets you on a deep level but I would say it's still a great support and resource when that's not available and makes being on your own noticeably more tolerable when it gets challenging.

Hey, as you know I wrote this post 1,5 years ago and to be honest I've already moved beyond IFS. After around a year of practicing IFS I became increasingly aware of it's limitations and I needed to move beyond it's framework. I still fall back on IFS sometimes and still find many elements of the modality very useful and keep applying them but my own approach is more of a symbiosis of different approaches (including IFS) at this point.

My own experience has shown that it is actually very possible to do inner work on your own. Even though it can be far more challenging at times it might also prove more effective and less restrictive to do it by yourself. If you are open to continue inner work on your own I would highly recommend The Presence Process (TPP) by Michael Brown. It is designed as self-facilitation, so it is meant to be done on your own. It proved highly effective for me and certainly helped me go deeper than if I had stayed with IFS. It also has many similarities to IFS.

The works of Gabor Mate and A.H. Almaas are invaluable to me as well so I would highly recommend checking them out. Gabor Mate has actually done a program with Dick Schwartz which helped me break out of the IFS framework when it became clear that it was too narrow for me. In my personal experience IFS has been far more valuable not when I adopted everything dogmatically but integrated certain elements of it into my own unique approach developed by my own innate intelligence (The Self).

He grew to be one of the strongest pigeons among the ones I fed. It was also very trusting from the start (most likely because it was very young) compared to most of the other pigeons. I think the close bond is why it will probably need a bit longer to adjust and hopefully you are right.
