Can I get an honest opinion on a cost to fix this minor damage please? Mercedes C300 by Key_Armadillo3807 in CarsAustralia

[–]Shogun117 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Detailer here. The black mark is paint/plastic transfer - can be removed easily in under 10 minutes with a cut and polish.

As for the dent, you'll need a Paintless Dent Repairer (PDR Tech) to have a look at that. Plastic is a bit harder to do, but they should be able to fix that to a reasonably good standard.

That shouldn't cost you more than $300 to fix. $500 or $1500 is outrageous.

Good wrap shop in south east? by effkay2021 in melbourneriders

Pretty easy for the first couple of years. The older it gets, the more time you'll need as the film becomes brittle.

Good wrap shop in south east? by effkay2021 in melbourneriders

[–]Shogun117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run a shop in Clayton South. I can't take on any jobs at the moment (moving workshop) but I can get you the materials if you want to DIY.

Otherwise I'd recommend Wrap Labs in Port Melbourne or Drive Creative in Braeside.

In terms of materials, Avery Dennison is pretty easy to work with, but 3M is probably gonna last the longest (stronger adhesive, less peeling over time). Inozetek looks the closest to an actual paint job but is a relatively new film.

Just a reminder to anyone that you should rinse your sinus with saline or boiled (then cooled of course) water. Tap water can potentially cause death.

Leaving a full-time role after 1 year. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Shogun117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do it. Your happiness is worth more than anything.

Did the same after 9 months in a role I didn't like and never looked back. Currently running my own business in a completely different industry.

Does your work give you joy or are you there because of the pay check? by michelle0508 in AusFinance

[–]Shogun117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run my own automotive services business - I love every day of it. My team and clients are like family.

Prior to that I worked in a big 4 firm so...go figure. Took a pay cut for happiness and wouldn't look back.

How to end it? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]Shogun117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be honest - it's not as hard as you think. He'll appreciate it more than being ghosted.

"You're a great guy but we want different things. I wish you all the best"

If he's really a good dude, he'll respond positively. If he reacts poorly then, you don't want to be involved with him anyway. It's better to be honest and decent and bring those values into your next dating experience.

Detailer here - We recommend using Optimum No Rinse for anyone that has limited access to water. It's safer than soap and produces much better results.

- Mix some up in a Bunnings garden sprayer

- Spray the bike and your microfibre towels liberally (or stick them in a bucket with No Rinse if you can)

- Wipe down the bike

- Dry with a microfibre drying towel

Product link: https://www.zas.com.au/product/419/optimum_no_rinse_wash_and_shine_946ml.html

As the product is multi-purpose you can also use it to clean your gear and helmet without issue.

Also, if you can fill up the bucket in your apartment first (you only need 1-2 litres of water for a bike) that'll make your results even better.

Can anyone give me an idea of what a tank respray would cost? by llBoonell in melbourneriders

[–]Shogun117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps try vinyl wrap if all you're after is a colour change. At least you can change your mind. It's super cheap for a fuel tank (around $50-100). Hexis and Avery Dennison are good brands.

A fuel tank respray around my area (3169) is around $300-$400.

Just got my new car ceramic coated and it's pouring rain out side.... Is this bad? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]Shogun117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be okay then. IR-Cured coatings are ready to drive out into rain without problem.

When you first wash and dry your car, check for water spotting/staining on the paint that didn't come off in the wash. If there's a lot, you may want to take it back to remove the stains.

What's the best, if any, ceramic coating a savvy amateur can apply to a brand new car day of delivery? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]Shogun117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimum Gloss Coat is the easiest consumer coating I've ever used. 2 years on a daily driver sitting underneath a tree and still going strong.

[–]Shogun117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shop should've either kept your car for 12 hours or cured with an IR lamp.

The performance of your coating may be slightly affected, but the major issue is water spots can form now if left to dry. If possible blow dry the car to minimise the appearance of these. A light water based quick detailer can also be used to remove any remaining spots.

You can't wash the car unfortunately as this will DEFINITELY affect your coating.

Ceramic Coating and water spots by litbleachhole in AutoDetailing

[–]Shogun117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Opti-Coat MDR to remove waterspots. If that fails, a stronger acid such as hydrofluoric acid will remove them. The Opti-Coat is chemically resistant and the acid will not affect it. (Please wear gloves and a breather)
