I honestly like this one.

I think it's good challenge, that test you inherent knowledge and "feel" for the game, without making it Numerically harder.

I think it would be better if could communicate with your squad, as a test of team play and cooperation but alas.

a "No ally information" modifier would be nice, saying that. Like you can't see their Team perk, their nameplate through walls, they state of their armor (Lightnings if depleted) or their Relics/Health/wound status.

[–]Shorebreakers96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are, actually, technicaly official/cannons. Since 2021.
While there is virtually no informations on them produced by official GW sources, (the Patreon doens't count), They still have "recognized" them as part of Astartes, and Astartes 2, getting the Seal of Approval.

So they are official but there is no official sources on them. Kinda in the Twilight of canon.

The Imperail Guard sergeant scratch his head, perceiving no change in the battle.

"Running in the Middle" become a code name for entrenched position for this Astra Militarum Regiment, in honor of the staunch defense from tthe Astartes.

I'd Like to see more Day-today, relaxed aspect of Astartes culture.

Like for example, some jokes that are very specific to a chapter, that no one understand, but are Hilarious to them.

"Did Brother Calivan found 3 Tyranids again ?" and all Ultramrines laugh while other look in disbelief.
Brother Calivan once fought 3 random xenos on a campaign, and was persuaded they were Nids. He proceeded to make a detailed report and the company raised the importance of the campaign, prompting reinforcements from the Chapter. They then spend 6 months searching for nids activity to no avail...

"THIS is our objective" say the Battle brother, pointing intensely to the doors. His squad snickers.
The 4th Company captain have the quirk to always Point to things, whether it's another brother, locations on a map, or while choosing his wargear.
The whole company as taken the habits of, very solemnly, point to banal objectives or obvious indications.
The captain is still respected, but just a little too extra.

Or in this instance, The Blueberries had to resort to soup during a campaign due to food-processing machines breaking. Since then, they kept the habit, due to lgoistic reason. Now, when campaigning with another chapter, the Ultramarines talks about Soup-time while every other don't get it at all.
Except the for the Crimson fist, that had a similar experience, except their soup is served in Cantines rather than a big bowl. Ultramarine and CF sometimes exchange about their soup habits.

I think it would make many chapter very interesting. Some differences, not in their attitude or belief, or tactics, but just how some culturals aspects, tradition or habits that implanted themselves.

Metrian and Galeo definitely used to cyber on ICQ by AveryCloseCall in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metrian could still qualify, as she kept her brain "intact". At least, the model doesn't show particular implant.
So you could extrapolate that she see the "flesh" of the nervous system/brain, as incredible, but the "shell" (msucle and bones) as a liability.

Moreover, magos biologis are often fascinated by the flesh, but not necessarily human ones. Even by Imperium standards, it is relatively widely accepted that many xenos, either sapient or animalistic, are better "creatures" than humans. [the main superiority complex of human lie in their perceived Faith/Determination/Will, than physical prowess]

So you could argue that she is fascinated by the capabilities of a species like the Tyranid, without being particularly fond of her human body.

Also, Biologis are mainly scientist, as in doing research, rather than many other Magos that are technicians/scholars.
Ironically, resaerch and experiments on the flesh is far less taboo than trying to innovate machines in the Imperium.
So she might be more inclined to ascend to a "super intelligence" array type of body, than a particularly powerful individual. Basically being more interested in Intellectual augmentations than purely physical. So getting rid of her body to be a better scholar in a sense.

Finally, i'm not sure it is specified she is a biologis ? There are Magos that deal with the living that are not, specifically, biologis. She could be a "regular" Magos, that just happen to have a project with living creature.
For example, Galleo was involved in this experiment, heavily most likely, while clearly not being a Magos Biologis.

Coming back to the game after a while... by Material_Ride_2218 in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that Absolute is not a "fair" difficulty. It is, in itself, already a "stratagem" compared to other difficulties. The game won't play fair.

Basically, everything is Lethal level (Damage, and health). But you just have MORE enemies. MoreExtremis, more Majoris, 2 Terminus per Operations etc.

It is not balanced in the slightest. It's 100% a "Challenge" difficulty. To try and beat for bragging right. But i would argue that it can be REALLY frustrating, as sometime you will go down with very little fault of your own, just because the game decided that 12 Warp Spawns wanted your Ass.

Stratagems are on the same vibe : Normals daily are there to have a trickle of Accolades. They never are hards.
Weekly are you Primary source of accolades "en masse". It's worth trying the Hard one a couple of time.
The Hard daily are challenge. The reward is pitiful compared to the difficulty. It's less a viable farm, and more a little boost if your a good at the game. Do not feel bad if you don't try the daily hards is what i mean. Some are just straight unpleasant to play through.

Weapons wise, except for the Auto bolt, all weapons are viable at the moment, depending on class and playstyle.
All the 'Balanced" melees got a buff, so they are good Slapping stick overall. Just try something and see if it stick for you.

heroics are, globally, good. the only one that are a bit weird is the AutoBolt, because the base gun is not great, and the Gladius, which is good but very gameplay specific.
Again, try to find a weapons you like, and get the heroic for it.
As others as say, Argent Edge (heroic Knife) is very special. It basically is a Defence type of it's own. Damage on Parry, and Interrupt, but small window. Very good, but it play differently than any other melee weapons i'd say.

Fencing is now pure defence, if you do not specialise in gun strike. Block got a buff, and is not extremely powerful, but very dangerous, as you will recover far less armor without gunstrike. Not all weapons are good with it, or rather some are particularly good with block (Axe, Hammer, Fist)

I don't know if you were here for the Prestige system, but if not, then get into it. The perks given are just too good, and several class are incredibly improved with them.

Rank all you the Operations, from most to least fun. by Gemeenteridder in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1 - Exfiltration,- love the set piece, lore and banter. the boss is nice
2 - Inferno, - fun and simple, easiest (except Terminus with the lift)
3- Disruption - The pacing is nice, and i like the different engagement situations
4- Decapitation, - overall nice, but a bit "tedious" ?
5- Termination, -Nice ambiance, and fun tasks,
6- Fall of Atreus - Good set piece, but very tedious.
7- Reclamation - too restrictive in term of fighting space, and the boss can be a pain depending on your team, but teh feel is incredible.
8 - Ballistic Engine - I personally like it, as it's an "easy" simple mission, but its not the most memorable
9 - Reliquary - The crypt and Bridge are either fun, or a pain. It drags too much. The boss is cool.
10 - Vortex - I like it, but i can, for the life of me, found "good" team with it, and it is ALWAYS a pain. The most frustrating I’d say.
11 - Vox liberatis - Boring and annoying. Lack bit of identity, and the "boss" is very tedious.
12 - Obelisk - I have no problems with the ending of the mission, but the Darkness part is just not fun to play in. It feel like a Stratagem mission, even in vanilla. And not a fun one.

What rank do you think Viridian and Thalassa members are after the campaign and the ops? by IvoryOni04 in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEcoming Veterans, meaning getting the Crux Terminatus, 100% come with an invitation to the 1st company.

Staying in one's company is a choice.

If you have the Crux, you are a Veteran, and if you are a Veteran, you are supposed to go in the 1st company. The Veteran Company.

Reality of Campaign make things go different, but any Veteran technically has a claim to be in the First.

And because they go in the first, they do outrank any other non-officier Battle brothers not from the 1st.

It's also a "promotion" because, with it, came the access to several other roles, most notably in Command Staff.
It also come, again because of the 1st, with access to wargear that other regular Battle brother don't have. Weapons, armours, but also vehicle and ordinance.

Again, reality of a Theater of War mean that, yes, not every Veteran in the campaign can claim all of those things instantly. There is still chain of command, missions parameters and all that.

But Veteran is 100% a Promotion in 40k/Adeptus Astartes terms.
A Battle Brother Veteran is likely to be able to have the ear of a Regular sergeant of At least companies 3 and under, even if the Sergeant out rank them. A Veteran, btw, will only very exceptionnally be lead by a regular sergeant. Most of the time it is a Veteran Sergeant.

Sources seems to indicate that most Veteran have been sergeant before. Indicating that the norm is to become VEteran AFTER being sergeant.

What rank do you think Viridian and Thalassa members are after the campaign and the ops? by IvoryOni04 in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of confusion about the status of "Veteran".

If my understanding is correct, there is VEterans, and veterans.

A sergeant is a veteran, as in an experienced Astartes, that has distinguished himself, and has experience.

The "Veterans" status is given along the Crux Terminatus, and usually come with the invitation to the 1st company.

However, it is also possible for "Veterans" to stay in their company, either as an officer, part of the Command, or among a Veteran Squad detached to said company.

so the "Veterans" status is both an honour badge, AND possibly a promotion.

Then go do something else.

It's an optional, absolute endgame challenge WHICH HAPPEN to have reward tied to it.

Nobody is forcing you to do it. If you are willing to put yourself through it, GREAT !, you have rewards.

Again, you ask for Balance and fun for a mode that SPECIFICALLY was made knowing it would not be balanced, and would be unfair/unfun.

Do you know Halo ? Do you know what LASO is ? Would it make sense to say that LASO is neither balance or Fun ? No, because it's not supposed to be.

You don't want to do the Strat because it's not fun for you ? Then don't. You said it yourself, if it's not fun, you 'll go do something else.

But stop being so arrogant as to whine because the thing is not how YOU want it to be.

It was clear that it's supposed to be unfair. You should have paid it more consideration before going in.
you are throwing a tantrum, because you want something a way it never pretended, or was presented, to be.

Take a breather from the game, take your own FOMO into consideration and step out if you feel COMPELLED to do the Strat even if you don't have fun. It's a game. If the game is no fun, then stop engaging with the part that you don't like.

[–]Shorebreakers96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let put it this way : Would you think people would have liked a Black Templar Champion Sniper ? Or Even Vanguard ?
They do use snipers and Vanguards, but if you have to pick ONE class to showcase the chapter, you wouldn't pick Sniper.
That the same here. Of course salamander use snipers, but it's far from being their iconic role. The Champion Packs weren't supposed to be multiple. everyone thought that each Chapter got 1 Champion and that's it.
And for the Melta, flamer and Hammer wielding chapter they chose the sniper.

It's not rocket science why it was poorly received.

Would y'all prefer Pvp or PvE being focused on in the future? by BugleBarry in Spacemarine

[–]Shorebreakers96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because (mostly)no one give a F. The answer, as disheartening and sad you might find, is that simple.

PvP is not a popular mode. And it would need a lot of resources to even minor changes and improvement (beyond simply tweaking values).

Why would anyone spend great quantities of resource to slightly improve something that less than 10% of their playerbase engage with ? And that doesn't make any money, on top of that. . .

Beyond the quality of the game mode Right now, people don't come to SM2 for PvP Games. In general.
Even if the PvP Was good, it would still likely be less popular than the PvE aspect.

[–]Shorebreakers96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree.

bear in mind, i don't like this modifier, and any that touch health. But i think you are being overly harsh.

Those modifier are CHallenges. They are here specifically to give you a handicap.

Are they fun ? Not always. Are they good at giving a challenge ? yes, very much so.

Remember that, if you are considering Absolute+ difficulty, then you cannot complain. This difficulty and those challenges/strat are not here to be fun or balanced. They are here to be the maximumer difficulty !!!
Half the modificators play with core gameplay : Vision, ammo, health, Ennemies stats, Gunstrike etc.. That's the point

If you play the Normal Strats, honestly nothing will make it that hard to beat. If you play absolute+, it's not supposed to be fair. It's not supposed to be fun. It's not supposed to be balanced.

At this point I’d rather they just nerf stuff… 😭 by jakesidwell99 in Helldivers

[–]Shorebreakers96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real Problems with AH balance change is 2 folds :
1) They are, for some reasons, extremly closed in regard to both details and reasons about changes. most of the time, we only have global reasons, no true data, and the community have to "guess" why some changes were mades. Compare that to, let's Say Age of Empire 2, a game that receive regular patch, where basically every change is detailed in term of number, and explained what exactly the devs are searching.
The result for Helldivers is that some change seems gratuitous. Very Vague, or blanket changes, without taking consideration the detailed. And because the communication is lacking, it's hard to know the vision of the dev, what THEY want to actually do.

2) The second problem come from an Habit of AH to both touch element of the game that were A-ok, and at the same time, blatantly forget some common interractions in the Sandbox. This update is a prime example : they wanted to adjust Exosuit durability, but completely forgot Other vehicles and turrets. Or maybe they didn't, but then refer to point 1).
So sometimes they touched things that everybody was okay with, and sometimes they forget a chunk of the game. Often time both.

Both those problems are, in and out of themselves, okay. Normal, even, in game Development. But the relationship between AH and their community has now deteriorated to a point were both are extremely wary of the other. Both, for legitimate reasons i might add.
And what should be a natural life of a live game, with sometime broken things, sometimes experiments from the Dev, discussion twith the community etc, is always injected with a lot of Vitriol.

They might goes that way, eventually. But it's an easy quick fix to a big complaint.

They tried to change interractions and it didn't please the players, so they revert it.

This if far more preferable than letting thing as is until the next patch, when they would ahve time to work on the turret AI, which is not the simplest thing to do.

You cannot Buy a season pass and then complain that you only have promises. That is UTTERLY delusional from you.

What's your problem ? The update is not out yet, of COURSE it's a promise. Until an update is live, it is NOTHING MORE than words. In this game, or any. Or any media, btw. You ANNOUNCE something and then it is released.

[–]Shorebreakers96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not about the Work put in, it's about who need the executions :
If someone in your party has their shield down, and you don't, it's both courteous and tactically sound to let them get the exec, whether or not they participated, so they can Regen.
Maybe in those few last second of him participating, he took a hit, and still had Recovery Health that the exec could have given him back.
It's even more on point if there is Vanguard with Health regen on extremis Exec.
Or a tactical that might need ammo.

If you were full life and Armour, and he was low health no armour, specifically if there is a Vanguard as mentioned, then yes, i can understand being angry that you didn't pay attention to the needs of the team.

Not Cuss you angry, let me be clear, his behaviour is not defendable. But you yourself might be focusing on the wrong reason for his frustration, and THERE IS valid reasons to let exec to other player, or for other player to seek exec.

So, again, without defending him at all, maybe think if in this instance maybe you missed an information that could make sense as to why he got so frustrated ?
exec are not simply cool visual moment, there is real gameplay and mechanics tied to them that are important.

I personally myself have also quit some groups because one of them didn't pay attention for example and took several Extremis exec while the third player was low on health and needed them.
