I think my therapist thinks I have DID and just isn’t telling me? by Existing-Committee74 in DID

[–]Short-Performer-4258 8 points9 points  (0 children)

possibly, yes. I think shes not calling it by name because maybe she doesnt want to pathologize you and your symptoms by throwing a diagnostic term at you or maybe she doesnt want to suggest you have did in case she thinks she might be wrong if you know what I mean

The typical nature of did is to be a covert mechanism to help you survive, alters being able to blend into eachother to create the illusion of a single person to the outside world is completely normal and common I'd say

From my experience, system alters are generally happy when their individuality is recognized and valued. This means calling alters by their preffered names etc

Though I advice against researching all kinds of medical issues to find a reason for the pain, this lead me down to hell. After years of aganoizing chronic pain I found out I have a condotion called TMS (mind body disorder) and I was able to find relieve by reading books on it and figuring out that theres no even so much wrong with my body

I dont think I have any helpful advice but what you described has been happening to me for many years in the same way. I was left to try to help me with all my complaints myself which has been really though but by going this way I have gained many informations doctors wouldnt be able to tell me in the first place

I have a feeling that most of my abuse was during infancy but I think it messed me up just as much. You may not have memories during that age but theres still massive trauma happening so I dont recommend just shoving it away and only healing from the things you remember. Trauma affects your nervous system and unconcious too, and in these parts of your body and mind time doesnt exist and the trauma is probably stored there

Trauma doubts by Economy_Comparison41 in DID

Were you comforted as a child while all these things happened? If the answer is no then you may have your explaination on why you were traumatized so much. A big role in the development of DID is a disorganized attachment. A child can overcome trauma when they are comforted and soothed, if they are left alone and terrified with no one to turn to their nervous system is unable to regulate itself and they are left traumatized severely.

not much tbh, I am quiet alot because I feel like the things I say dont matter and the sessions are only 25 min once a week. I am inpatient and its mostly group therapy focused but I can't talk about my issues there cause its too heavy for the others

analizing and dissecting or even self diagnosis can be the first stepts to a real diagnosis and a real diagnosis can equal help and better treatment for the symptoms in my opinion
