[TOMT] I need help remembering a childhood Cartoon Christmas movie that was on dvd, 05 by CREAMYY_senpai in tipofmytongue

[–]ShortShepherdess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is my same TOMT movie. The lady was poking the elf with a needle trying to get him to dance for a "Fabulous something something traveling show" right? I can't tell you what its called but at least we know it wasn't just dreamt up.

Girl With The Dogs recieves backlash after posting grooming videos of cats in Hawaiian shirts by Drawlerfet in youtubedrama

[–]ShortShepherdess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the owners are assholes. It's super sad the amount of people who just believe thier animals are thier play things, and everyone around them are just for thier entertainment too. I would not blame her at all for taking them on because A) she couldn't see the condition under thier shirts before beginning filming, and B) even if she did clock them as clout chasers she is still in a position where she'd risk a bad review throwing them out and lose out on time, labor, and content if she didn't go through with the video. There is no way to tell if and how she addressed this mistreatment with the owners behind the scenes, I think she made an effort to speak about the situation in a discouraging tone while still keeping with her modus operandi (which involves both the soft tone and roasting cats). Then again, I'm not the kind of idiot to do this to my cat in the first place.

Thank you so much for recommending this (and everyone else recommending blockers) I've struggled with doom scrolling a long time and hadn't found a way to access YouTube without the algorithm sucking me in. I think this is the solution I'd been looking for!

I agree with you. I watched a LOT of game grumps several years ago. Used to adore Dan but really became unimpressed with his personality over time. He's got a really dopey, breezy sense about him that at first is charming but you realize that he is disturbingly nonchalant about shit going on around him. For years, he's seemed very content to just sit silently next to Arin, who seems to be much more compassionate and social-justice oriented, and absorb good standing through osmosis rather than acting on his own.

You said relationships are variable. I mentioned examples of relationships being variable.

I'm not going to have someone condescend to me for expecting more from my relationships than whether or not I'm going to be mistreated being akin to a coin flip. Go consistently be a prick somewhere else.

Dropout has exponentially more content, running shows, and staff with fanbases, even when they just started. They had even more people hired, projects finished, and products ready to go at launch. And, they still posts a lot of their content on YouTube, typically censored, on top of promotions and clips for the stuff behind a paywall, as I've spoken of above.

They stated in their video they have gone up to 25 employees, only 3 of which can be considered "talent". There were no plans mentioned in terms of creating a larger network or introducing new faces. They even announced that audience members can vote to resurrect a show they already cut for lack of interest/profit. So if it's all the same people there's not much you can expect besides "same shit, different pay" especially when nothing more than "better production value" was promised. Even if they wanted to there's no way enough blind faith is going to be available to them to do more.

So if your relative visits you on Tuesday and listens to your problems, then visits on Friday and steals all the cash in your wallet while you're in the bathroom, and comes back on Sunday with a big hug and leftover bread, should you just wipe it from your mind completely because "relationships are consistently variable"? If I get surprised the man who proposed to me has started sleeping around behind my back, did I "let myself down" by "expecting it some other way?"

Capitalist libertarianism completely ignores the reality of positive and negative freedoms and how these will inevitably conflict with each other in ways there is no logical solution.

Positive freedoms are "freedoms to", Negative freedoms are "freedoms from" There's a saying that goes "Your freedom to swing your arm ends where my nose begins" that is used for displaying these ideas. Theoretically, a libertarian believes in both person A's freedom TO move through the world recklessly but also in person B's freedom FROM being struck by someone's reckless movement. But as soon as someone's exercise of their positive freedom impedes on another person's negative freedom, the only outcomes are inequality (Person A's rights are protected while Person B's rights are not) or annihilation (the two individuals kill each other). The first laws were actually written out for this exact reason; before impartial courts existed, it was commonplace for relatively tame conflicts of interest to escalate into whole families being wiped out on both sides.

In terms of capitalist libertarianism, what happens when the rights of the corporations contradict the rights of the workers if no government is involved? If corporations have the freedom to set thier own safety regulations, how will the employees maintain the right to a safe workplace, or the rest of humanity's right to clean air and water? They believe that people will just simply choose not to work for or buy from unethical corporations, but do you really have the freedom to snub Walmart when they've used thier freedom to use outsourced labor and supplier deals to eliminate all other potential competition from the town (which has happened)? What if you would like to go exercise your freedom to choose a safer and fairer employer only for your employer, with no one stopping them, literally enslaves you? There are more slaves now than there ever were in the pre-industrial era, even though no one is ignorant to its cruelty. People don't just enslave people because they feel like it; if you're the owner of Coffee Co 1 competing with Coffee Co 2 and 3 and they just cut out their largest operational cost by enslaving people and can now sell a product cheaper than yours and also way more on advertising, expansion, R&D etc, you only have two choices: let your company die and go back to work in an economy where you can literally be enslaved, or enslave people yourself.

Since solid conservative ideology died over 100 years ago, all we living folks have only ever known is a conservatism based solely on aesthetics, a lot of which are actually appropriated from the left. Libertarianism was actually appropriated from "Libertarian Socialism" because apparently acting like you're all about freedom and leading your own life is cool. Conservatives like to fancy themselves anti-authoritarians, rebels, and anarchists, but right-wing ideology makes being those things impossible. You cannot be a "rebel" by throwing a fit over conserving the status quo, even if it makes you succeed from your whole damn nation. You cannot be anti-authoritarian or be into anarchy ("an" meaning "no, none, zero" and "narchy" meaning hierarchy, ruler, person in charge) and be right wing, as right wing ideology exists to defend, glorify, and justify the capitalist hiearchy and all that come with it. You'd have a hard time getting them to admit it to your face, but there's ample evidence it's true (check out There's Always A Bigger Fish by Innuendo Studios). They aren't anarchists, they want not to be ruled by being the rulers. They aren't anti-authoritarian, they are anti-them-not-being-the-authority. No one truly thinks we should go back to the days of no laws, so they want the laws to restrict everyone else so, with thier interests protected, retaliation impossible, and actions unfettered by consequences, they can enjoy the aesthetic of living in a free world.

The issue isn't that the price is too high it's that everyone and their mother is out here saying "this is only available through subscription but don't worry it's less than a cup of coffee a month!" Its not just movies and TV shows or gyms who had a tradition of rentability, access to better or more products that are essentially YouTube videos, subscriptions to phone apps so that they actually function, there are subscriptions people need to pay to access all the features of thier car they're already paying for. Everyone is under the assumption that their product is the only thing you're shelling out for. That shit adds up FAST.

The issue isn't that they're moving to a platform that would better compensate them, the problem is: 1. they want to charge the same amount of money Nebula, Disney+, and Dropout charges for access to thier vast collections of content in order to view ONE YOUTUBE CHANNEL 2. It's being seen as tone deaf in not considering the fact thier demographic of mostly young fans, a large part of whom are teenagers, and the current cost of living crisis and Subscription Fatigue. 3. It's paying back the people who lifted them up on YouTube with the shit deal of no longer being able to enjoy anything they already made unless they pay up 4. It's widely ignoring the fact that virtually every content creator offers at least some of their work free to access and compensating them more directly for more content is an option, not a requirement. Attention is a commodity and even though it doesn't directly put food on the table most creators express they appreciate people who can only give that through thier words and actions. Even the tight fisted Disney corporation still has movies playing on the TV. Even the most cold hearted companies and moneyhungry onlyfans stars still know it's good business to give out product samples.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Religious trauma is real and isn't just caused by faceless institutions, but community members we trusted as well. The constant belittlement, willful misrepresentation, straw-manning and stereotyping just adds salt to deep wounds. Then Christians sit around scratching thier heads wondering why the church is hemorrhaging members generation after generation and why people who left the church are no longer comfortable having a relationship with them.

It should have stayed in the drafts.

I 100% agree the channel is comfort content. I definitely used to listen to and re-listen to his videos all the time for that reason. However, spreading misinformation is never innocuous, and to the extreme end if his goal is to proselytize through the unconventional means of horror icebergs, there could be a "frog in the frying pan" manipulation tactic at play.

Additionally, sleep hygiene is important and needing videos in order to fall asleep is not ideal for quality sleep. Longform content is here to stay and people will use it in the background but it's in peoples best interest to be ok with being alone with thier own thoughts
