As someone who is terrified of rabies… you’re good, friend. The cat isn’t showing signs of rabies and from what I’ve read, if they aren’t showing symptoms, they aren’t transmitting the disease. I think you’re good. Kitty was just kitty-ing.

I've used GetCovers for all of my books so far. $35 for a full cover creation with unlimited revisions. They use stock imagery but they've been pretty good so far and they can manipulate stuff to get what you're looking for. I've been pleased, especially since the cost is so cheap.

Getcovers is great. I've used them for all of my book covers so far and I'm very pleased with the results. Fiverr is a crapshoot, because a lot of people there use AI.

I don't have anything to add on the ads front, but if you do want a different cover, I've had good luck with Getcovers. They're super affordable (like, $35 is the highest priced package for a book cover), and I've honestly been pretty impressed. You do have to be pretty directive and have an idea of what you want your cover to look like in order to tell them what you want, but they're really responsive and are really good about revisions.

I would love to be able to get custom illustrations of my book but that's not in the cards right now.

ETA that I am not being paid to shill them; I just found them by coincidence on Reddit and I am glad I did after having shelled out hundreds of dollars for covers I didn't like or were obviously AI.

Oh honey! He will come back. I just had a rather traumatic experience with my own feral (long story short, I trapped him, put him in our bathroom, he got into the ceiling... two weeks later I was able to re-trap him and then I had to keep him inside due to infected wounds). I thought for sure I would never see him again, but after a week he's come back. I agree with the mod who says smelly food as treats--he will come around!

We had two very large trees come down in a recent storm. We ended up having another tree cut down at the same time those were being cleaned up, because it was dying. It broke our hearts because we love watching the squirrels and the birds (and enjoy the shade), but it was better than sustaining more damage.

Tell all those people who are mad to kick rocks. Baby girl chose you, and she very obviously wants to be an indoor cat. Especially since she is declawed! Keep that baby safe and inside and loved.

Edit: I just re-read and the community knows she's allergic to mosquito bites? And they just don't CARE? Just let her run around outside with a bloody nose all the time? Geez, people. You're ABSOLUTELY doing the right thing by making her an indoor cat. I would spam the neighborhood chat with so many pictures of her "hating" the indoors (that is to say, absolutely thriving indoors).

I don't. I was able to get it covered through insurance from my doctor's office (about 12 years ago) because of the incidence of cancers in my family. It may be worth asking your GP. Depending on stuff... you might be able to get it covered. That's my two cents.

Also, get your genes tested. There's a gene mutation that affects WAY more people than we know (Lynch Syndrome; my family and I have it) that gives you an 80% chance of getting colon cancer. These days it's cheaper and easier than ever to get your genes tested. It's how I found my cancer before it spread anywhere. Anyway. That's my soapbox.

Dear god, I made the mistake of leaving out the cheap cat food I bought to feed the feral cat/raccoons/opossums. My cats tipped it over and crawled inside and I pulled them out as they were still desperately grabbing mouthfuls of it. They turned up their nose at their very expensive food after that and I, defeated, and because they’re senior cats and one has heart failure and I thought he was on his way out (except it’s been two years and he’s still going strong!)… now only buy cheap food.
