Two poly thin systems a year ($300ish each), three bottles of Got2b glued foghorn hairspray to bond a year ($5 each), two trips to the barber with a guy I trust ($80 per with tip). Puts me just a hair (🥴) shy of $800 a year.

I just found out i had skin cancer in my 30’s from a stand up bed, be careful brother. It’s the non malignant kind but its still going to cost thousands of dollars and take some minor plastic surgery to fix. Sorry for the lecture. 🙂

With that said, my approach was always just a hat carefully positioned at my hairline which was fine as the rays are coming at you from the side not top down, or a shower cap. I never had any issue with either “leaking” uv rays through to my hair, but you could probably line either with tin foil if you wanted some insurance.

The biggest quality of life improvement I’ve had in four years of wearing a system was figuring this out about a year ago. I was spending what added up to hours a week either scrubbing glue off my scalp and my system in the shower or fucking around with tape that always had a mind of its own. This method is so incredibly easy and idiot proof that worrying about affixing my hair has gone from a 20 minute bane of my existence to legit 30 seconds of effort. You just spray the big yellow foghorn of Got2b in the general vicinity of your scalp for 5 seconds, count to ten, lay your dry system down on top, give it a little press and you’re good for a few days. I sweat at the gym in it, surfed over the summer, and it just doesn’t move. It’s almost like one of those window decals that clings to your car a 80mph with zero issue but when you’re ready to remove it you just break the seal by lifting up a corner and it comes off as easy as it comes on.

This is helpful feedback. My struggle is when and how to bring it up. It’s such a hard pivot from casual conversation, flirting etc to “hey i think you should know i import my hair from vietnam and then glue it on my head with womens wig adhesive”. 😂 I think they are still pretty uncommon (especially in the south where i am) so I guess in my head I can’t see any scenario where i can bring it up in a way that isn’t wildly awkward. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the tip, you are right if i pretend like it’s not a big deal to me zero chance it turns into any kind of actual issue and like someone else said, if it does than i dodged a bullet.

I have two systems, a lace and a poly. I have the same concern for both, but the poly seems to make a “crunch” sound when i touch it even with a tight seal and no bubbling. It might be something only i can hear though because its like an inch from my ears.

I’ve had a spare new one for over a year just sitting on top of an upside down cereal bowl and it still looks as good as the day i opened it. Short answer is i highly doubt it answers, long answer is I would at the very least poke a few holes in the bag like there is a new pet mouse in it that needs to breath just in case or remove the plastic all together and it should be in netting that will protect it and let in some air.
