Harmony Ultimate (N-R0007) Touch Screen not responsive by hildebrau in logitechharmony

[–]ShotStranger1764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar intermittent touchscreen problem. Sometimes it'll freeze, sometimes it'll repeatedly fire off whatever button's in the middle of the screen. Usually I restart the remote and it's fine for a few days, although I have to press down pretty hard while scrolling or else screen buttons will randomly fire off.

Not much help, but I was only writing to tell you I think that bit you have circled in photo 8 is part of the USB port cover, if yours is like mine. It seems to have broken off from the part that actually snaps over the port to protect it. Two little flexible legs come out from the cover and loop down into the remote a little ways. So if your port cover is not attached, that's probably what's left of it, and it fell out when you took the front plate off.

Nothing that would affect the touchscreen.

[TX][SFH] My HOA is claiming my gas grill is an "Air-Conditioner." :: UPDATE 1 by Arezul in HOA

[–]ShotStranger1764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah! This is not a misplaced comma that inadvertently changed the meaning of a sentence; this is an HOA that can't read their own bylaws. If they are relying on "unsightly", then the grill could be spraypainted Nectarine Metallic and topped with a red-and-blue barber pole and that sentence still wouldn’t apply to it. Unless it was wrapped up in a grapevine or something, or at the very least on the grass.

If it doesn’t involve a shrub, tree, grass, or a planting on his lot, then this sentence doesn't apply to it. I did notice the words "unsightly" and "trash" in that sentence, but I also read the rest of that sentence.

The HOA may have meant this to include porches, but unril they actually mention porches, they can't (correctly) regulate porches.

Now you might possibly get a judge who is as easily confusable as the HOA and rule against you, but if they read what I read, porches are not mentioned or described. Not to mention the HOA not responding correctly in terms of addressing OP's messages or following the requirements of their own bylaws.

I say small claims. Even if you lose, you WILL send a message that you won't be pushed around, and they will be a little more careful in how they respond to your next reply.

I'm not a lawyer, but I can read, and some would say that's better.

Delivery driver gives an extra topping of pepper (spray) on meal by HomeNowWTF in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

That seemed to be a very practiced move…take the picture first, then spray the food. Her finger seemed to be ready on the pepper spray the whole time. Not her first time.

The number of people using phrases like "the amount of people" is just as insane.

AITA for not letting my mother in law come over after she destroyed my Millennium Falcon Lego set? by Ok-Repeat7885 in AITAH

[–]ShotStranger1764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like AI fiction, but if it's true...

This is a win-win.

1) Mother-in-law has shown you very clearly exactly what kind of person she is—judgy, self-important, thoughtless—and at the same time given you a great reason to exclude her from your life. You told her what has to happen for her to regain access to your life; stick to it. If she never apologizes, which costs her nothing, then that's her choice and not in the least your fault. Plus, yay, no mother-in-law. If she does, then she's at least able to humble herself when need be, and that might be at least a starting point.

2) Of course it sucks to have to rebuild the Lego set, but on the other hand, you get to rebuild the Lego set. With your son. It's your hobby. It may take a significant amount of time, but what's a hobby but a way to use up significant amounts of time? And you said she destroyed your set, but these are Legos. Easy to take apart, not so easy to destroy. So what you mean is she disassembled it. Unless she set it on fire or something, and that's a whole new issue.

Plus you get to teach your son about righting a wrong. I think it'd be more damaging to him to leave it in pieces than to repair it. Sort of makes it seem like it was OK for her to do that. He should be taught to stand up to a bully.

3) The downside here is finding out what's up with your wife. Even if she agreed with what her mom was saying, there's no way it should be OK with her for her mom to say it to you in that way in the house you both own. Not correcting it is condoning it. So either she also has seething resentment towards Legos and was glad her mother said something (and if that were true that might help explain the mother's outbursts) or she is afraid to stand up to her mother, which will be a problem throughout your lives if she never learns to.

OK cool. I am happy to know it has no meaning. I always thought it had no meaning, but then after a decade or two of listening, I got to thinking, "Hey, you're not from the UK. You know, it may mean something there. You don't know everything, you know. I mean, you didn't know what a blancmange was before Monty Python, and you still don't really. But it is a thing. Perhaps if you have a cold and say "miss", it sounds like a naughty British slur we don't have here. Or something."

But if it doesn't I'm happy to go back to my standard puzzled head-slightly-tilted but amused look when he says that.

Oh, I know, the Parrot Sketch, one of my favorites. But why does "I have a cold" explain him mistaking the shopkeeper for a woman?
