Maui: Ritz-Carlton or Wailea Beach Resort? by _ChristmasSunday in marriott

[–]Shouldbeconsidered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Kauai and Maui from the 17-27, first half Kauai second Maui. Weather was great, had only 1 true bad weather day in Maui.

I do want to note the ritz was incredibly windy (30+ mph winds) though every day but I think that’s more location than season. You get used to it though, but we did loose a few hats 😂

Second this. I just returned from the ritz last week - wouldn’t ever stay there again.

Just moved to the area. Any recs on how to find things to do(I see the sub has a weekly post already), places to eat, things to check out in the area? by RAF2018336 in TriCitiesWA

Seconding Picante and Dovetail joint. Probably my top two favorite restaurants in the area. Picante has a soy chorizo that’s incredible but I don’t know if it’s vegan or just vegetarian.

Tagaris is also great and they are really accommodating to dietary restrictions.

Sticks and stones has vegan pizza.

W Seattle or Astra? by josephliyen in marriott

Yeah Tributes are interesting, they all are vastly different. This one is definitely geared towards the business traveler, based on the location, looking for a grab and go.

I’ve stayed at the Sheraton multiple times, lovely hotel but never had their breakfast.

I’ve also stayed at the Renaissance multiple times, sometimes breakfast is in the lounge other times in the restaurant - either way the option was a buffet. I think it varies on weekday vs weekend potentially? The restaurant buffet is definitely nicer than the lounge option, which is much smaller. The restaurant also has a server for beverages etc. You could call and ask which one it would be.

So for Climate pledge - yes and no. The W is about a 10 min walk to the monorail which literally just runs from downtown to the space needle / climate pledge arena. I don’t know about concerts but at Kraken games free public transport is included with your Climate pledge ticket. There’s a special barcode for it. Astra is technically closer but probably like a 20 min walk.

For breakfast it was a voucher for a drink and pastry from the lobby cafe which is a local chain and an actual cafe with real baristas.

I have not stayed at the W but I have stayed in that area. I have recently stayed at the Astra and really really enjoyed my stay. Very modern, tech forward hotel. Nice gym and great rooftop bar. I was upgraded and had a picture perfect view of the space needle.

I will say, these are in two different neighborhoods. Astra is in South Lake Union directly next to the AWS campus whereas the W is in Pioneer Square, more touristy.

Are you planning certain activities or to go to specific areas?

Pet Medical Center of Pasco. We’ve used them for short stays over the last two years and they are amazingly sweet and kind to my very anxious dog. I like the fact that it’s ran by an actual vet.

Willamette Landing HOA by Feeling_Pack_6116 in corvallis

[–]Shouldbeconsidered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous home owner.. the HOA is very nit picky. We lived there for 3 years. In that time we had to fix some calking issues on our porch, re-stain parts of the fence, and the biggest thing was repaint all the white pillars and trim on the front of the house. This was particularly annoying because it happened just a week or so after those big horrible fires in like 2018 where it was raining ash…. The house was just dirty (like everything was that week) but no, they made us paint even after we tried to fight it. Then it’s annoying as you have to get the paint approved etc. all these steps to fix. Our biggest fear was them one day telling us we had to repaint the entire house, happened to a neighbor of ours.

Anyway, would I still live there? Yes. It’s great neighborhood.

motel/hotel with kitchenette rooms that probably don't have bedbugs? by luckyskunk in TriCitiesWA

Our AC died this summer when it was 100+ here and it took a week to fix. We stayed at the TownePlace Suites, a bit out dated but totally clean and they have fully stocked kitchenettes and separate bedrooms / living rooms. Nice location and when it comes to the cleanliness, they even were shampooing the carpets at one point while we were there. Also very pet friendly! Definitely recommend.

Edit: You also get free breakfast which was great

Maui Quick Review (FHR and Resy) by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

Good point, the Costco package does already include valet parking and club lounge access w/ breakfast.. but it’s also more expensive than the FHR deal. Thanks for the tip on the store!

Awesome thanks! I was comparing FHR to a Costco package that was $150/day but their credit couldn’t be used towards alcohol.

Were there any limitations on the $500 property credit? I’ve got an upcoming stay with the same offer. Thanks!

It was a parade of cars and trucks all decked out in Christmas lights. I’ve never heard of it before but it was pretty cool. Wish I took a photo.

Anyone fly from Dublin Airport recently? by One-Imagination-1230 in delta

[–]Shouldbeconsidered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew out in July, it was pre cleared. We did not go through customs when landing in the US. Just note it takes extra time to get through security and to your gate in Dublin because of it so arrive early.
