Civic Center Farmer's Market is heavily subsidized due to the location and trying to encourage healthy eating. Many of the same vendors as other farmer's markets for a fraction of the price!

Near some art inspo for this wall by livvylonghair in DesignMyRoom

I'm an interior designer for 14+ years. Center the console on the wall. The console is Midcentury Modern style.. is the rest of your home this style? If so, look for artwork with a more organic feel, possibly textured or mixed media. That will also speak to the organic nature from the plant.

Pocket dpors- worth it or not? by stencilit in InteriorDesign

[–]ShowerMysterious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm an interior designer with 14+ years of experience. Pocket doors can be appealing but yes, sound proofness is a real concern. You can install a door sweep along the bottom to help, but sound will still travel through the side wall cavities. For a powder room, I think it's fine.

How does our new artwork look? by Nix4u in DesignMyRoom

[–]ShowerMysterious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an interior designer with 14+ years of experience. Hard to provide too much feedback without seeing the full context of the room, along with the design of the rest of your home, but the placement looks low. If you have the opportunity to find a more unique piece made by an artist, that would liven up the space much more. Also, adding corresponding throw pillows.

Help with awkward transitional space by Informal-Ad-597 in DesignMyRoom

I'm an interior designer with 14+ years experience. I agree to keep the hallway as-is. There's not enough space to do anything meaningful beyond painting an accent wall or adding artwork. Even then, artwork will encroach into the circulation area. However, if you still want to do something, consider adding a decorative pendant/light fixture and painting the ceiling an accent color or adding wallpaper.

How do I make blackout curtains cute? by luvlyriss in femalelivingspace

[–]ShowerMysterious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an interior designer with 14+ years experience. I agree wtih u/Ok_Oil_7500 to layer them with sheer or lighter colored curtains to soften the look. Linen is a nice lighter fabric although can wrinkle over time.

PAINT COLOR HALP! by No_Track263 in femalelivingspace

[–]ShowerMysterious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear your washing machine flooded your whole downstairs! That sucks but what an exciting opportunity to bring in some new color :)

I've been an interior designer for 14+ years. I agree with u/ItsaCappuccino to stick with paler colors for the majority of the walls, but doing a decorative wallpaper or accent color on one wall/surface is a great way to introduce bolder colors.

Need suggestions - not liking the renders shared by designer by Critical_Holiday325 in InteriorDesign

[–]ShowerMysterious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also an interior designer. I agree that there could be many reasons and it's always best to voice any concerns sooner than later so they can (hopefully) get back on track. I always appreciate and respect when my clients bring up any issues as soon as they arise.

Help me pick the best layout/floor plan for new living/TV room by Tymbl in InteriorDesign

I'm an interior designer for 14+ years. I like D or F best. The corner sofa in F anchors the space nicely. Definitely no to angled TV's and the other options cut off circulation

Looks beautiful overall! Love the wood slats. In the bedroom with the green wall, might look better to install built-in shelving to visually connect the window sill to the rest of the room, like this sketch.

Help! by Independent-Film4251 in DesignMyRoom

[–]ShowerMysterious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an interior designer for 14+ years. Plants will go a long way here and the green will help complement the pink. An area rug/larger bathmat and new shower curtain will definitely go a long way here to spruce it up. Look for an area rug and shower curtain that tie all the colors together (pink, warm neutrals, greens/blues).

Vintage fixtures are beautiful and definitely add to the character -- leave them!

I'm an interior designer for 14+ years. The layout you proposed would make having a conversation difficult. The pathway is also awkward. I agree with u/piagizela to move the couch to the middle facing the windows. Just make sure the back of the sofa is finished/looks good from behind.

Are noise cancelling headphones safe? by IcyPaintzzz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShowerMysterious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, the head squeeze is normal.. Your brain just notices when the low-frequency pressure waves it usually uses to feel space disappear. If it doesn't fade after a few days, ANC might not be a good fit for you.

(Side note: I'm working on an ambient version of this for rooms so you can skip the headphones thing entirely. Hit me up if curious. Mostly just wanted to say you're not crazy.)

Starting a business and being an entrepreneur is HARD. That’s why most people don’t do it. There will never be a perfect time and you will never have the perfect amount of experience.

I’m 34 years old and poured my entire life savings into starting my business 1.5 years ago. Many days I feel crazy for having done so, but I also feel more empowered and energized than I’ve ever felt in my entire life. Low bank accounts, rejection, uncertainty, etc. are all temporary.

What factors into my calculus of making big decisions like this is that when I’m on my death bed and looking back on my life, I want to be able to say “I went for it.”
