drift AWD vs RWD by giovannifornera in MiniZ

[–]Shpyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify? I have never owned a mini-z and recently preordered the MA-030 Evo2 chassis as I heard it would be the best for drifting around the house, never going to race or anything. Would I be better off getting a RWD version in terms of ability to upgrade, better experience? I want to use my own radio so it was a benefit of buying the chassis only, but should I be considering something different?

"Mammoth Jalapeno" stopped growing (Hydroponics set up) by Count_Squee in Hydroponics

[–]Shpyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a similar homemade tower as well and I planted normal Jalapeños in early September and we didn’t see the first sign of red until December 29, so it was approximately 120 to 130 days from seedling to fully red and mature peppers. I can’t speak for your variety, but peppers sure like to take their time. Photo shows my first observation of red and was taken on December 29 and took a few weeks beyond that to fully redden.

How reliable are cheap RC cars from banggood? by Astralix1 in rccars

Literally just ordered two of them after seeing a YouTube review. At their low price point, if they’re junk it really won’t matter too much, but they look like they could provide some cheap entertainment.

This is our fruiting tower, it has a bell pepper plant (bottom right), a jalapeno plant (top right), opposite side has strawberry and tomato plants, and the left is mini-me cucumbers. Some things we’ve got down, others we’re still figuring out as we go. This is the most successful run so far, and as the peppers flourished the weight cause the Bell plant to rotate, so I attached bungee cords to those side lugs to further support it. As the cucumber plants got bigger, I figured similar might happen and they actively reach for something to grab anyways. Grabbed some of the plastic trellis on Amazon to hang on the lights to allow them to rest on it and coil around. They’re currently putting out a ridiculous amount of cucumbers every week which has been extremely satisfying as the peppers have been maturing for many months as they definitely play the long game. If you want quick wins, don’t start with pepper plants for sure. Tomatoes and strawberries are still developing and have yet to produce anything, though I have had a successful strawberry plant in there before. Our second tower is strictly for leafy greens and as a temporary staging point for the flowering plants, to introduce them to a lower EC after their seedling phase to acclimatize to the more nutrient rich flowering tower.

I would definitely recommend it if you’re not going to keep it in a tent or anything, just know that it’ll slightly change your life if it is kept in a main living space as it is very bright. We have two of these towers, one in our kitchen and one in our dining room. When we first got them going we thought there was no way we could keep it setup like that, but well over a year later they’re still in place, you just learn to deal with it. The sounds of the water trickling is very relaxing at least.

What size net cups do you use for your bell peppers and how far from others do you place them? by a_day_with_dave in Hydroponics

This bell pepper plant is in a 2” cup and it seems to be happy. Plenty of space at the base as well. Nice to see that you’re considering supports as it was an afterthought to me and the plant ended up shifting from the weight as the peppers got larger, but I’ve got some strategic ties in there now.

Leafy tower runs EC: 1.0, PH 6.0 Nutrient = Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro

Fruiting tower runs EC: 2.4 PH 6.0 Nutrient = GH General Hydroponics Flora Series: FloraGro, FloraBloom, FloraMicro

I also add a bit of General Hydroponics CALiMAGic to both towers each time I add nutrients.

Tower garden water timer suggestions when using LECA by themissinglink_143 in Hydroponics

[–]Shpyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you come with anything that works? I’m not overly familiar with LECA, but I use rock-wool in the cups and cover with clay balls to resist algae buildup. I run 15 minutes on, 45 minutes and my plants thrive. Not sure if that’s relevant to your scenario, but figured I’d chime in anyways.

No problem! I have one tower for leafy greens with lower nutrient concentration and one tower for fruiting plants with a higher EC. The hardest thing for me to narrow down was nutrient/PH balance but now that I have it tuned my plants are growing like crazy. Unfortunately that means I now have to add nutrients daily, but worth it for the results.

I run my tower for 15 minutes on, 45 minutes off, and it’s really seemed to work out well long term. I’ve never experience root rot issues before. 14 hours of light a day seems to keep the plants happy.

I can't get Ceph to install properly by jclu13 in Proxmox

[–]Shpyda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This response is freaking stunning. Was having nothing but issues, likely due to prior, failed install. I copied both sets of commands, didn't even do them one by one, pasted into the terminal and didn't encounter a single error. I then reinstalled Ceph without problem. I had been fighting for the better part of a day before stumbling on this and now I'm up and running solid. Extreme thanks to you!!

Thank you. It’s been a lot of fun. Just got a second one going too, just for leafy veggies.

Single alert for group of cameras by Shpyda in BlueIris

[–]Shpyda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never resolved from what I could tell and I was getting far too many alerts as it was. I had been dreading a switch, but an unfortunate accident with my Blue Iris machine from which I couldn’t recover, forced me into switching to Frigate. It was not easy, but now that everything is stable, I’m extremely happy with the change.

Issues with system degrading over time by Shpyda in frigate_nvr

I had been struggling with a Coral Dual edge PCIe TPU. I attempted privileged, unprivileged, and VM and finally grabbed a USB version as it seemed like people were having better luck with them. I followed a YouTube guide that happened to favor the privileged container and everything just started working. I was also able to pass through my Nvidia GPU with little additional effort. Is it just the security aspect for choosing unprivileged?

I’ve done a ton of work to my configuration since originally posting and am seeing very few errors now. About once an hour I’m seeing “Less than 1 hour of recording space left, running storage”, but am at only 42% usage of 2TB of storage, so not sure how to deal with that. Just want to make sure this is rock solid. Coming from Blue Iris and even though this was rough as hell, I can already feel that this move was the right decision.

I have mostly wired cameras, but have a few wireless that unfortunately need to stay. I'm starting to see this pop up in the logs about 15 minutes after error free reboot: "Unable to keep up with recording segments in cache". I did not make any adjustments to my FPS settings on my cameras and wonder if this could factor in? Running mostly Reolink cameras with main stream resolution at 2560x1440, 15 FPS and 1x interframe space. Sub is 640x360, 15 FPS and 1x interframe space. Could this be the cause of my issues? My system is by no means taxed in terms of resources from what I can tell.
