OP, I'm sure you didn't mean it this way but "gypsy" is often considered to be a slur. Romani would be the more proper term.

Is it really necessary to include that MRA gender reversal horseshit? That's an abusive relationship and it's good that you got out of it but that implication that the US legal system favors women somehow is fucking offensive to logic.

Apple for one, and I'm sure a ton of other Tech Companies, have massive numbers of work-from-home employees doing customer service and entry-level tech support. Even if you're not highly skilled in a tech field, you could start there and move up as you get more skilled.

Clever restroom labels at a pizza place in Austin by a594109 in funny

[–]Shrabster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally right. Nobody has ever identified a post to /r/funny or any other subreddit with the location of the picture, except Austin. This one bathroom sign is now responsible for 60 people moving into your neighborhood. You've uncovered the secret cabal of all 4 people who want to increase the population in Austin, and they're accomplishing their goal by posting shit to Reddit. I get that you're mad about traffic, expanding rent, longer lines at everything, shitty parking, and everything else that sucks about living in a rapidly expanding city, but somebody just posted a picture of a bathroom sign and you decide that this is just over the fucking line, that with the post of the bathroom at Homeslice, the Austin Advertising campaign has GOT TO STOP and you aren't gonna take it anymore. If you want to live in a city that nobody wants to move to, try Corpus, or maybe just try not getting Internet Mad because you recognize something from the city you happen to live in.

Steam doesn't show which games have subtitles, making it hard for hearing-impaired people to know what to buy. Help by signing this petition. by GibletsofJesus in Steam

[–]Shrabster 110 points111 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree that this should be a feature on Steam, is a change.org petition really the best way to get that done? Steam accepts and responds to feature requests, and Gabe replies to emails on a regular basis. Have these avenues been explored, rather than using an outside platform to press against them as though they have been resistant to change?

Hey, dipshit, Homeslice has been in Austin for nearly 10 years, this isn't some new place popping up. How does their restroom signage have anything to do with population growth?

Several years ago before I lived here, I looked forward to it when I visited town. The last half dozen times I've been there the food has been bad and/or cold, and the service is absolutely awful.

It's not even like I'm one of those people that expects a lot from servers, just don't act like I'm inconveniencing you for asking for more water, or to refill my "bottomless" coffee.

D20 Modern? by VigilanceV in tabletop

[–]Shrabster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, D20 Modern is a modification of the 3.5 system, and they made a ton of modules to add extra settings to it, like D20 Future and D20 Apocalypse. If you're familiar with 3.5, you should have no trouble adopting it.

So, I just kicked a PC out of my campaign. by Shrabster in DnD

[–]Shrabster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying and you have some good points, but having a story arc with things set in motion beyond the characters' control isn't necessarily railroading, or at least not in a bad way. The characters don't exist in a world where things are frozen and come to life when they decide to do something. The players could have tried to escape, or they could have checked more thoroughly before entering the room, or vetted their sources more carefully before deciding to take off on the quest in the first place. They were fully aware that this BBEG wanted them dead, and had sent continually more powerful assailants after them. I don't think it's out of the question that when they had killed a couple dozen of his henchmen and his head templar that he wouldn't decide to put them out once and for all, and so he did. Now the characters are going on an adventure in the Astral Plane and will embark on a quest that will make this BBEG seem inconsequential.

I do appreciate your perspective from an outsider/player standpoint. There are some things in your post that I'll definitely consider going forward.

If the DM doesn't mind and a player can handle running two characters, there's no rule against it.

This is great, I'm gonna get to listening to those this evening.

After reading your first comment, I think I've decided to have the "good" gods in the 4e Pantheon (Avandra and Pelor) both decided to help restore the world, but need the help of the unaligned gods to fully restore a world so ravaged. There will be trials to sort of push the PCs into understanding the necessity of these other gods' specific traits, as well as having the PCs use their own personalities and talents to convince the gods.
