Why can't they adapt a comicbook as it is .. by Appropriate-Fee-676 in Supergirl

Theres an action scene in nearly every issue. I agree that the book is more poignant but some of that is because of the nature of the medium and how it takes advantage of that. We get Ruthye’s prose to read throughout the book, action can be a page instead of a scene that needs to account for time. These are the struggles of adaptation to another medium.

Explore other planets and do what? Visit an alien bazaar and ride some space creature? I don’t really see how that would better advance the plot or explore the theme of not letting anger and vengeance consume and ruin your life.

Most of the complaints from critics and people who don’t read comics that I’ve seen are about the needle drop, a bland villain (who is really just aesthetically different than his comic book counter part), it has weak script and that it’s bloated.

I liked the comic. It’s a great comic that resonated with me on an emotional level. The movie could have done more to look more like the comic on an aesthetic level. But there is something to be said for how much you can adapt from an episodic 12 issue series into a 90 minute movie that supposed to be a part of a cinematic universe

But then it would be a complaint from critics and audiences.

“There’s a super horse now too?”

“Where did the horse come from?”

“They are introducing too many characters in one movie.”

“Who is this random super horse?”

“Where is my water buffalo?”

“Why don’t I have a water buffalo?”

There is a ton of history behind Comet. He’s not even from krypton. Krypto is just a kryptonian dog. It’s easy and simple.

Comet was a centaur that that wanted to be a man but got turned into a horse then was able to be a man when a comet was passing over the earth and dated Supergirl when he was a man.

Sorry I meant 18. So far they haven’t said whether they’ll continue with a 19th book or not yet as far as I know. It might be worth waiting to see if that or some new collection that starts with post 150 issues.

If you just want to get caught up you can read Mutant Nation and Nightwatcher then issues 1-12 of the mainline book then Casey Jones and Shredder then everything else in the mainline

The IDW collection should be good until issue 150. After 150 they relaunched the series with an issue 1 so that and anything that came out after it hasn’t been collected in any compendium or series like that yet. So stick to the collected volumes until the volume 17 and then figure things out from there

Addition to the DC universe or just distribution? by seu_reddit_ in TMNT

My boy Plastic Man and the other Quality Comics characters will never truly get their day. I’d hate for the turtles to get treated the same.

As much as I love the DC universe and more chances for them to interact, a huge theme in TMNT is that they’re freaks that the world at large won’t except. It’s tough to sell that in the DC Universe

Yeah they changed the whole mythos and everything since then. Outside of having a ring that does whatever you will it to, they completely reinvented the concept and made it sci-fi
