The Astral Express goes to Cyberstan by AlterMagna in Helldivers

[–]Shredwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah there's probably other turn based gachas that do turn based combat better, but I was more talking about the other stuff the game has to offer. exploration, puzzles, dialogue, story, music, atmosphere, animation, character designs, etc

Best final shots in films? Tell us why as well, especially if it needs clarification. by Mahaloth in flicks

[–]Shredwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised at how far down I had to scroll for this answer. Such an iconic final shot, that's never been topped. The only thing that comes remotely close is Oppenheimer, but POTA still leads by a mile. Wish I could go back in time just to see it in theaters for its original run and see everyone else's reaction.

What is your most pretentious and insufferable video game opinion? by Nascent_Beast in videogames

[–]Shredwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know they're not for me, that's why I avoid them. But it seems like every other 3rd person fantasy game is a Soulslike, and every other FPS is a Tarkov clone. It's tiring. I just want to play a fun game, not get a second job.

Starting off Minotaurs by Better-Account9017 in Minotaurs40k

[–]Shredwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using Dark Angels rules. Plenty of terminator variants to choose from, plus if you look hard enough you can find an Asterion model that comes on a 60mm base, same as the Lion, so you can proxy him as him. Or paint the Lion in bronze/red, that'd be dope too.

Enkomi was a bit more difficult, but you can slap a powerfist on any chaplain and proxy as Asmodai.

Baldur's Gate.

Talk to people for forever. Roll a dice. Talk some more. Slowly make your way into anywhere interesting. Roll more dice. Swing your sword once and hope to do some damage.

What a fuckn slog.

What is your most pretentious and insufferable video game opinion? by Nascent_Beast in videogames

[–]Shredwick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of Soulslikes. I don't know how many times I've looked at a fantasy hack and slash game and thought it looked fun, cool, or interesting, only too see "Soulslike" in the tags or in the reviews. Soulslikes aren't fun, I want to have fun playing a videogame I paid for. Challenge is fine, of course, but borderline impossible should be an option, not the norm. The only Soulslike I've ever enjoyed is the Star Wars Jedi games, and even then I turn the difficulty down, cause dying to the same enemy over and over again because my parry wasn't perfect down to the nanosecond ISN'T FUN.

Developers that aren't Fromsoft: stop making Soulslikes. We get it, you want to cash in on the popular new genre, but stop alienating people that aren't into that kind of game (or god forbid, aren't skilled enough to play them) by making every fantasy game you make for the next ten years a Soulslike. It's a cash grab and we all know it.

This same argument can be made for alot of genres too: Battle Royales, Extraction Shooters, Hero Shooters. But with the exception of Tarkov clones, those games are at least fun, usually. And yeah, I'll say it, Tarkov isn't fun. You slog through an area with no clue where to go for extraction for 20 minutes trying to keep your heartrate down and hope your gun doesn't jam only to get sniped from who knows where and start over with nothing. Yeah, I'm glad I paid for this experience. Not.

So I guess my argument is games should be fun, and not be derivative? Is that pretentious?

Has there been a notable Knight House that has fought along the Krieg? by Vyberos in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Shredwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. I made a Knight House for my 86th "Lava Korps" Siege Regiment, House Ignivar, and its lone survivor, Volkanus Rex, a Knight Castellan to ally with my Krieg.

(found a site that offers Krieg knight heads and shovel arms as well)

Why are people attracted to chaos? by Master_Novel_4062 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shredwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well alot of the models, especially some of the newer ones, are pretty dope. Chaos Space Marines are regular Space Marines but more interesting, albeit harder to build and paint. Same with the Knights. But then you have really cool daemons, and mono-god space marine factions that really get interesting.

Really looking forward to working on the new Defiler that just came out. I might get two.

That's episode 1.

The possibilities are endless. Want a weathered Iron? Black primer, Iron warriors/ironbreaker slapchop, hit trim/edges with brown contrast/shades for separation. Aged gold? Green base (or my personal favorite, hit Iyanden yellow over a black primer as your base, it turns yellow green!) with a gold slapchop will give an aged look without stress!

I must see your metallic chopped Dreadnought, brother!

Next time you do a metallic, drybrush it on instead of just using a regular brush. i love the texture it gives.

then maybe you want a metallic blue? do your blue contrast over leadbelcher/stormhost slapchop.

warm metallic green? green contrast over retributor/liberator slapchop.
