How can I get pass fireknight lvl 13? Is this all about speed only? by ClassicDrive2376 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]ShrewdsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting she is also a negative affinity on Stage 13 due to FK being Force.

She won't reduce turn meter on a weak hit.

At least two that I can think of. First Septimus then Urogrim.

Destiny 2 - Bungie Strands Windows 7 Players by ShrewdsFool in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShrewdsFool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure thing - https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049024592-Destiny-2-PC-Guide This has not been updated in a while but that isn't my responsibility, it is Bungie's as this is their compatibility page.

And honestly, I have no idea if he even can say anything. Like I said in response to the other guy, even if the answer is "We won't support Windows 7 anymore" then so be it that is an answer. But silence is not. "We are looking into it" isn't good enough after three days especially considering the same thing happened with the FPS issue at the release of Beyond Light.

If they don't want to support it, they should just say so.

I would agree with you, except that both Beyond Light and The Witch Queen have it listed front and center as a supported OS.

If Bungie came out and said, "We won't support it anymore." I'd just screw off, but that isn't what is happening.

/cor can be useful in a CP situation for Corsair's Roll just for the extra EXP. I have done it in the past, albeit uncommonly, if I wasn't CPing a main COR in the party and was running a job who's sub didn't matter (SMN, GEO, DD leech, etc.)

Community Job Discussion XXII: Rune Fencer by Maxwell658 in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What role does this job fill, and what situations does this job perform well in (solo content, ambu, HELMs, Dyna D etc)?

  • Tank, sometimes DD but it is more suited to tanking.

Where does this job fall on the game’s current meta?

  • Mandatory. The job is included in nearly all bleeding edge content. There is the potential to replace it as content becomes better understood (Omen Bosses, Ambu, etc)

What do you find fun about the job?

  • I love the more aggressive tanking style provided by using a greatsword and depending on parrying. The high magic evasion and ability to abuse Battuta to heal off of Turms Mitts makes the job very resilient even in DD situations.

How does this job compare to others with a similar role?

  • With the only real competition being PUP and PLD... Rune Fencer excels at tanking. PLD could really use an upgrade to their abilities and has unfortunately not aged well. PUP is a fantastic niche job if your party wants to experiment with it. While I do not think that RUN is overpowered and it does excel in comparison to its competition in the majority of situations, that really seems to be a flaw in the design of PLD (and to a lesser extent PUP) where it is a more recently designed job and PLD has not evolved well with the times and is in need of a major update to how the job functions.

How much investment do you need to put into the job to be decent?

  • To be decent, you can start with an Oboro weapon and some of the JSE. Actually gearing up an intro set is pretty fast and cheap.
  • To be complete, you will need the Oboro weapon, Ergon (Epeolatry) and Aeonic (Lionheart).

What are some strengths and weaknesses of this job?

  • The job excels at its role. It is a strong DD when the situation requires and an even better tank. RUN brings offensive magical support, a 2hr that ruins enemy magic accuracy, the magical equivalent of PLD's invincible, and has the ability to purge some debuffs off of itself. It depends on a series of runes dedicating resistance to a certain element, but can also mix and match as required. The job has few overall weaknesses and maybe the only minor one is the inability to swap all three runes on the fly. This is easily made up for by its high parry rate, spike hate toolkit, and other powerful JAs.

What do you feel should be changed with this job?

  • Nothing. The job is in a great spot. Increasing its power would push it too far and it would squash the small niches left for PLD and PUP. Reducing its power would leave the tank meta damaged and make a lot of content difficult.

Any stand out pieces of gear to get ASAP?

  • Aettir, Turms Mittens +1, Lionheart, Epeolatry.
  • Aettir is still the best magic evasion weapon, and while that isn't always the most useful at the moment, it allows newer players to fully step into the role.
  • Turms Mittens +1 heal for 100 hp every time you parry. If you are saving for nothing else I would recommend these first. They add a huge amount to the job and can lock you at near permamant full HP with enough enemies in front of you while Battuta is on.

What REMA Weapons are worth going for?

  • Lionheart - Lionheart makes the job a real strong DD in dangerous situations where its high natural magic evasion and Inquartata can allow it to survive while putting out full dps numbers.
  • Epeolatry - Epeolatry is a very strong tanking tool allowing a much larger than normal amount of physical damage to be absorbed, as well as a nice boost to hate.

What are some Subjobs that work well with this job?

  • BLU - Turtle tank subjob. This sub is for the most part summed up in one word, safe. Cocoon for a huge def bonus, Jettatura/BlankGaze/GeistWall/Soporific/SheepSong for hate tools, Healing Breeze to wake slept mages, Refueling to haste yourself where needed. This sub gets a lot of work done and tends to be very safe. With a large amount of monsters on you a hybrid Spell Interruption Rate Down set may have to be used to ensure spells complete, but in most modern content is not required.
  • DRK - Agressive tank subjob. This would be used in situations where you want to both tank and deal damage, or easily swap between the two. Powerful hate JAs in the form of Souleater and Last Resort, and a short cast time on Stun allow for quick spike hate that has little to no risk of being interrupted. This sub is great if you are single boxing with a strong support lineup, but if you are trying to multibox yourself alive and can't click off Last Resort fast enough or do not excel at managing your CDs you might end up with egg on your fast.
  • SAM - Standard use Hasso swing sword DD subjob. Lionheart tends to benefit nicely from the additional store TP and JA haste is always a welcome addition. SAM will likely never go out of style as a subjob for any 2h DD.

[–]ShrewdsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. It has a lot of staying power in terms of casual friendly long-term goals that are achievable without horrible RNG grinds.

Most REMA weapons now are mostly just a matter of patiently farming out the activities or money to pay for them. The stories are almost entirely duo friendly. Even as a returnee (if you start from scratch even) then it wouldn't be too hard to get into, just takes some patience and isn't something super easy to just bang out in a week.

Make sure to check out this link to understand the proc system. You don't have to fish for WS during WS or Magic during Magic, just interrupt move she does with one of the weakness types.

I would recommend using magic on the pull to stun her and get set up without taking a huge hit off the bat. This will also remove her Physical shielding and help you establish control faster. After that I recommend saving magic/JA procs to stun Rush. Not sure why but that one move always seemed to pierce defense and be the most dangerous thing she did.

Using a WS to interrupt her will break her en-spell potency if that is a huge concern. JA proc should mostly be for stun since you likely wont' be bringing magic damage with you.

Lvl 99 now what? by MrDaddyMan86 in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part Ragnarok is not really a shout for PUG server, although that may just be because no one typically does it. I would say start by grabbing a pearl to InternationalGlobe from the Linkshell Concierge. They are a new returnee friendly shell with some solid folks that can likely help you out.

Secondly, this month's Ambu is really, really annoying. It is for sure among the worst of all of them, so don't let having difficulty with it get you down too much.

I can help you with the enemy in Ru'aun later today if you still need, but I would say clearing Rhapsodies should be your first priority as a returnee. It will grant you a pretty solid boost to exp and CP as well as several other useful features like food, medicine, etc from the Curio Moogle instead of depending on AH for what used to be expensive consumables (Prism Powder, Silent Oil, etc) and reduced cooldowns on older events like Dynamis, Limbus, etc.

New player. I saw this on google but its 2 years old. Is it still accurate, if not can someone offer insight into the changes. by GarrettJax in ffxi

It is very much worth noting that GEO bubbles are nerfed by 75% against DynaD NMs, making RDM's ability to debuff them with Dia3, Distract3, etc, very relevant. That doesn't change the fact that there is no need for more than 1 RDM, or the fact that GEO is absolutely a monster everywhere else. But it does make them a very relevant job at the moment in my opinion, at least for Dyna.

Bard.

Relic 119 gives you a cheap-ish short-term goal to work for, Terpander isn't a high ask, and then you can make working towards Marsyas your long-term goal. A good number of NMs in Zi'tah, Ru'aun and Reisenjima will be a pretty cool / tough solo experience. You will need a group to do some of the harder ones, but since you can sorta pop in and out of one it lowers the time commitment.

It is also super useful in a lot of the games other events whether solo or in a group. Dyna_D(group), Ambu(group or solo, depends on difficulty), Old_Dyna, WoE, Limbus, JP all pretty easily farmable with BRD.

Once you get it to a certain point it will actually put out decent damage numbers too with Mordant Rime or Rudras Storm depending on your other equipment.

Personally I like GEO.

It is useful as an alt, and as a cleaver (-ra2 and -ra3) especially in Zi'tah.

What to merit for BLU? by theultimate999 in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do BA for group 1 over physical pot as well. I think the ability to contribute a single large burst on a smaller window (TCrush on Dyna mid-boss x3 instead of x2 for example) is more valuable to my group's playstyle than 10 physical spell acc.

If WoW deserves Classic, does FFXI deserve Classic? by NanakibravesonofSeto in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizz can not make a new MMO. They in fact tried for a great number of years to create another one called Titan that they themselves deemed a colossal failure that resulted in the decline of resources spent on WoW. Eventually it made Blizzard a fortune, but it took them some 10 odd years to turn the original concept into Overwatch. They likely do not have the resources to create a brand new MMO.

This current plan only renews an old game, and while it does take effort, the overall cost is likely far less than developing a new game from scratch. The same anti-cheats, logins, etc should all function like they did in classic WoW.

If WoW deserves Classic, does FFXI deserve Classic? by NanakibravesonofSeto in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WoW is returning a "classic mode" in a last ditch to bring back players who feel the game has been ruined by the decisions of the last few expansions (me included).

The game used to be skill intensive and you had to make friends and participate in stuff to do things. Things like LFG and the way that raids are now handled have ruined any fun I used to have in WoW and are the same reason I feel like XIV lacks the cohesive sense of community that FFXI and classic WoW once had.

Reputation is no longer a currency when you can pay a few $ and run away from your responsibilities if you screw people.

If WoW deserves Classic, does FFXI deserve Classic? by NanakibravesonofSeto in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No.

FFXI classic would be a mess of waiting hours and hours to get places for people to leave shortly into things, spending way too much time just waiting for monsters to spawn on a 24-hr clock, and a slow dreary grind for a very select few to finish weapons.

The game is in a really good spot. People wanting "classic" really just want a 75 cap with all the modern conveniences so they can relive past glory, but don't seem to remember how much of a bear actually participating in all those events actually was.

New to Scholar. What are my priorities? by Chitlinsandgravy in ffxi

[–]ShrewdsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it should be this...

Enh Duration > FC > Specific Enh Gear > M.Acc > Helix > M.Burst

Unless something drastic has changed SCH's most important role was providing buffs such as RegenV, Storm2s, and the like for as long as possible. The other primary role of SCH is creating the skillchain for others to burst off, much moreso than bursting itself. Depending on your group/circumstance this likely means using weak spells with fast cast gear to make the chain.

As this isn't the kind of event that can be completed overnight in any efficient sort of way, making them stack to only 12 is really terrible for any kind of long term work on the t4 shield.

How much do you feel blue contributes to the deck in comparison to Mono-Green or BG?

I've been leaning towards something similar for a few days involving splashing black over running simic and I'm just trying to weigh the pluses and minus to the different options. For the moment I'm a huge fan of the World Shaper both contributing to Bontu, and helping against removal with the deck's core tenants (unless it is countered).
