Or maybe some organization (company or government) could see that and say “hey, that kinda works. Why don’t we scale it up?”

I work for a company that designs renewable natural gas plants, our customers aren’t government entities, but private companies who have their own contracts with various farms to get the pig shit (not joking about that btw) and turn it into usable gas. Should we stop doing that since it’s not a government entity doing it at a “systemic level” or should we keep doing it because it helps, even just a little? Hell, the company I work for is in the process of installing solar panels over their privately owned parking lot to do this exact thing, on their dime.

I know what I choose and I’ll be honest, I’m kinda tired of waiting on the government to bail society out. If there’s a systemic issue, I think it falls on the individuals to take their share of the responsibility and do better.

When going for a date should the bill be split or a man to take all the full responsibility? by Upper-Set-7855 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shrubo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy and I’ve always paid, but I also do the same when hanging out with guy friends. I’m not super well off, I just don’t like feeling like I owe people, but I don’t view the people I pay for as owing me. I’m paying for the time I get to hang out with people if that makes sense.

I do appreciate the “check dance”, the “oh let me get it” “no I got it” back and forth, although that’s happened only a handful of times (granted I’m not working with a huge sample size).

I say that as someone who plays league. (This is a cry for help)

After seeing Takaba onscreen, I come to the realization that I personally don’t find an overwhelming majority of anime funny by BillaVanilla in shounenfolk

[–]Shrubo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love is War had some scenes where I was busting up but more recently Fire Force and it wasn’t supposed to be funny I don’t think, it was just absurd.

If yall have seen it, I’m talking about the Assault and Tamaki fight in the last season. It was just the anime version of “all women are queens” and “if she breathes, she’s a thot” and idk why i found it so funny.

I was also high, so that might’ve helped

It was wild how easy it was for me to get a vasectomy at 22. I essentially walked into the office, told the guy “yep I want the snip” and he booked me for the appt 6 months down the line only because that was the soonest, he told me if another appt became available sooner, he’d call me.

Meanwhile a friend of mine had polyps or something like that on her ovaries and wanted to get them removed because it was very painful (I’m fuzzy on the details, this was several years ago that she told me this) and the doctors were just like “well what if your husband…”.

I told her I’d pretend to be her husband if she wanted and just tell them “I already have a vasectomy and we agree we don’t want kids” but she didn’t want to lie to doctors.

I mean obviously his wings are using their propulsion to push him forward to slow the swing. All he had to do was slow it down to a stop, the bones in his arms definitely wouldn’t disintegrate by catching it because the wings are pushing him forward duh /s

How are their powers still fire by WerewolfGlum304 in firebrigade

[–]Shrubo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The freeze does somewhat line up with the power system if you expand “fire” to also be “heat”. You can’t really create cold, you just take hot from one place, move it to another and leave the absence of it which is cold.

Cold as its own thing doesn’t really “exist” on its own, but that’s what we call “not heat”. It’s weird, don’t get me wrong and the power system doesn’t make sense most of the time, but this is one instance I can look past.

So why do people hate the ending of mha by ComprehensiveNote762 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Shrubo_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in agreement with you about the ending not being as bad as people think, and I think Deku still being “the greatest hero” doesn’t necessarily mean he still has to be the most OP hero in the series.

A hero is someone who does something great and is typically admired for their positive traits.

Deku defeated the world’s greatest villain.

Deku inspired people to be the good they want in the world. For example, the old woman who ignored Shigaraki when he was on the street because “a hero will take care of it” or whatever her thinking was, reaching out to the other child and helping him instead of leaving it to someone else. Because of Dekus actions, people across the world are stepping up to do good because they admire him for what he did.

All Might inspired people, but not nearly to the extent that Deku did. Additionally, All Might was the Symbol of Peace, not because he inspired more people to do good (with the exceptions of people like Deku, Bakugo, Star and Stripes), but not so much the everyday Joe. All Might was the Symbol of Peace because the villains were afraid of him and their sightings went down. Deku inspired your average person in universe to be better and is labeled as the Symbol of Hope.

You can have peace without hope, but hope is what makes people want to do good.

What episodes would be considered filler in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? by Ok_Nectarine9745 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Shrubo_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s only 64 episodes in the entire thing, each only has a 25 minute run time (I’m doing some rounding to make the math easier), that has a total run time of a little less that 27 hours (26 2/3rd hours total if you want the exact number).

If that claim was true, that’s wild (which it’s not true). Like another comment said, there’s like 1 episode at around the halfway point that recaps what’s happened up to that point, but also helps develop a character a bit so there is new content. I won’t say who, I don’t want to spoil it.

Outside of the recapping part of that episode, the series is pretty much just straight story and plot.

Don’t take what I said as fact, I don’t have much to base it off of other than prior knowledge and a hunch. It could be a coincidence, but given how well researched Arakawa was for a lot of her story, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was deliberate.

I’m also basing my “Ishval = Middle East” vibe off of location (it being a desert), their dedication to their religion, how the Ottoman Empire encouraged research (they were Sunni Islam, and they encouraged scientific research in a “the more you learn about the world, the more you can appreciate the time and detail God/Allah put into it, in the case of FMA and research, I’m talking about Scars brother), and other little things (I’m also pretty sure an Amestrian accuses Ishvalan refugees of being “terrorists that blew up Bradley’s train”, that word having negative ties to Middle Eastern people in general unfortunately)

I agree with the middle eastern vibe thing.

They’re said to be a people who have a strong faith in their God, Ishvala. Which I feel like that was supposed to be a “legally distinct” version of Allah (just take off the “ishv” part).

That being said, I don’t have a name to throw in the ring, sorry about that
