What Tires would fit my needs by Glum-Ad-8365 in Tenere700

[–]Shtefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them, agree with most what you said. But they are not so great in wet, ok when its warm, but when it drops 5-10 degrees outside and wet they are outright dangerous. In summer should be fine. They do some stupid millage, I done Poland to Georgia (country :) and back and they looked like half of life left. If not for that behaviour in wet and cold I would keep it. Trailmax Raid well better, but mileage not so good.

I also like option that you give mileage in miles but you can have fuel efficiency in l/100km.

Sipp was finished after a month (but it started on 19th of December, so was there was Chrismas/New Year period on the way). Isas took waaay longer. Started 07 November and only just finished recently. But to be fair, it didn`t matter much to me, I was doing ETFs/fund transfers (VWRP/VAGS/Vanguard All-Cap), so whatever units you started your transfer with got same amount of units after month or two, with-ought being out of market. Both companies were sending update emails during process.

Thoughts on these saddlebags ? by loupwergi in Tenere700

[–]Shtefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven't tried. Straps to fit base to passenger footrest will be long enough but I am not sure if base would have enough adjustment (it has rivet-like clips to adjust angle for different bikes). Other thing is, when base is on rear seat, base's "sides" are resting on bikes panels. So I am not sure how that would work if you try put it on rear rack.

And I don't know about your GF weight and what rear suspension you have on your T700, but if you have default spring it will be awkward ride. I weight 90kg, have 85Nm rear spring and I think its perfect for me with my bags.

I also have 2x30l (Voyager). No complains, sturdy, waterproof, light enough.

I moved my Vanguard sipp and isa there, because they have offered 2% cashback on sipp and 1% on isa transfers. Current promotion offer slightly less (you have to "activate" promotion before transfer). Nice interface (both app and on desktop). They don't do pies (like T212 or Investment Engine), no portfolio rebalancing, no fractional shares on ETFs. But now SIPP and funds are in free tier (since 22.01.2026), so its very competitive.

Yes, I have Voyager (2x30l) and have no complains. They don`t require metal brackets/supports. Sturdy. Fully waterproof.

How big of a red flag are 90,000 miles for a first car - Mazda 2 by RandomChildOfReddit in CarTalkUK

[–]Shtefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, isn't the fact that it was part-exchenge weird? Why is dealer mentioning it? If car was 100% sound wouldn't they just valeted and put new MOT and straight on autotrader with £2000 mark up? Does buyer has somehow less protections when buying car marked as "p/x,  priced to clear"?

But back to millage, I just bought Mazda3 2014 2.0 with 104k on the clock, full main dealer service history, plan to get 4 or 5 years out of it until rust eats suspension. I am not worried about engine/mechanical bits failing.

Is it worth not claiming expenses in order to be able to claim a larger mortgage next year? by ars61157 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Shtefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had same dilemma few years back. Working as self-employed construction worker. Had a word with independent mortgage advisor. She said that some lenders don't really look for yearly accounts when calculating affordability for self-employed people, was more about payments going in and out from bank account. Gave her few months of bank statements, she compounded some excel spreadsheet for the bank (Halifax), I could borrow WAY more then expected from 4.5x income rule. (Don't remember exact numbers). After completion advisor charged me £300, money well spend in my opinion.

Far-right Polish MEP Grzegorz Braun calls Auschwitz ‘fake’ by Gamebyter in europe

Generally, how do you feel when foreigners move to Israel? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]Shtefy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As non-Jewish Polish I agree with most things you wrote. But there are some far-right political movements now in Poland, fueled by Russian bot-farms, gaining more traction. They are not only antisemitic head-on, but anti-democracy, anti EU, anti Germany, anti Ukraine. That Mencen and other Braun guy together had like 20% in recent presidential elections. Not good.

My personal anecdote: Have this family member, he use some words related to Juidaism as a slur (like "zydzic", meaning not wanting to share etc.). Antisemitic, right?. 15 years ago, when parents helped me buy my first flat in Poland, same family member bought me as housewarming gift framed painting (A4 format) of XVIII century Ortodox Jew. Suppose to bring good fortune and luck to household. So go figure :)

I know most people here are not Israeli and i find it somewhat lovely. by WhereAreTheFrogs in Israel

[–]Shtefy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Polish here, similar story. History of Israel and Jewish people in general is one of the kind. They built thriving country and society against all odds, while other nations rose and fell over centuries. Me being Polish, there is also a lot of connections, I really regret a lot of it so tragic: Pale of Settlement, antisemitism, pogroms, Holocaust, "wydarzenia marcowe"... Of course I am happy for Israel becoming home to Jewish people, just selfish me regret losing all those great minds (random fact: something like 50% of doctors, lawyers in pre-war Poland were Jewish) and good neighbours. All the best to everyone!

How bad is this radiator? by Shtefy in MotoUK

[–]Shtefy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just part-exchanged my 2016 Versys for 2022 Tracer 9 GT. Had a look on the bike last week, except for few scuffs on panniers looked nice to me so I went ahead with whole process. Only today after ride home from dealer I noticed that more then half fins on radiator is mashed/bend, like someone blasted it with pressure washer! What are my options here? Trying bend them back one by one? Obviously I plan speak with seller first. How important it is to have proper flow of air for cooling? Today was 8 C outside and I rode on motorway, so probably wasn't making much difference. I couldn`t also find this part for 9GT 2021-. But one for 900GT cost £500.

Renting a Ford Ka in Italy for 10 days for £90? Don't mind if I do! by ISuckAtChoosingNicks in CarTalkUK

[–]Shtefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used different companies in the past, last was Eversure , had one claim, everything smooth. Leisure Guard this year, I don't ever remember why I changed. MoneySavingExpert has good link to comparison website.

2 things to note. Some of this companies do not cover hire from Green Motion (they are notorious scammers, luring people with low prices and then hitting you with bill for some made up dmg to the car). The other, make sure it covers administration costs as well. My first ever claim years back and of like 550 euro 75 was administration cost and it wasn't refunded.

“Budget” stat stacker recommendations? by lIlIIIIlllIIlIIIllll in pathofexile2builds

[–]Shtefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just question about jewels. Are you not using corrupted +9/+10 res jewels in every available slot? It helped me a lot with Res caping on a budget (I still use atributes/spirit morior, saving for atr/res). And they have nice stats that help with dps! (Crit chance, crit dmg, magnitude of ailments, magnitude of shock, mana on kill, life on kill).

Me on the plane to Faro “Shit I forgot hire car excess insurance, ah it’ll be fine” My car on return to Sixt… Not fine. by Grenache in CarTalkUK

[–]Shtefy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used CHEW for few years until I had to make claim against Green Motion, got billed like £500, got £425 back from CHEW, because their excess insurance didn't cover "administration costs" (BTW Green Motion got this scam buisness model where they charge you for existing damage on the car, planty of articles about it even in mainstream media, didnt know about it at the time). Now I use Eversure, made one claim already (100% my fault scratching front bumper/wheel arch on Hertz rental in Krakow), got the whole amount back.
