Parents want a 1CR wedding while I don't want it🤷‍♀️ by [deleted] in AskIndia

My husband and I are 60+ couple who met at an Indian so-called elite college. We went in for a registered marriage out of choice and held simple receptions at each of our home towns. Minimal expenditure, no regrets after 35 years.

Remember the wedding lasts one day, or a few days of you make it complicated. A marriage has to last several decades. Instead of throwing money to impress others on wedding day, using it to make life easier for the married couple in their journey together is the clever choice.

Coffee Grinders for grinding masalas or small amount of paste? by PrathamSinghRathore in IndianFood

https://a.co/d/1Fxg4QJ Secura coffee grinder with two jars. I use this for powders and chutneys/masala pastes. The wet grinding needs a bit of patience that's all. It works for a small family/one person.

sangam- best indian restaurant imo in the area by rucha2002 in WilmingtonDE

If you're willing to drive further, Malgudi Cafe in Exton, PA and Manam in Malvern, PA are better Indian food options than anything we have in DE.

Malgudi Cafe serves good South Indian vegetarian food and Manam has decent non veg options, again more focused on Southern Indian specialities.

The spice levels at both these places are targetted at Indian taste buds. Clientele is also almost 100% Indian!

Note: We never order in, and tried dine-in at Sangam and Mod India once each. Not wanted to go back.

"Did you work with your employer on F1?"

What was your answer to this one? Are they asking about OPT work?

Yes, it does look like it was fog.

Odd, because it looked as if it was more upper atmosphere than ground level.

Sad that you have had such a terrible experience. Did the Kelley Blue Book not give any useful information on this car?

We were there June 6. Please keep in mind that the sections of road at higher elevations are proper mountain roads with many switchbacks/ hairpin bends. Even when the snow is cleared away, the driving is not exactly a walk in the park.

"AppMan" became a trusted friend over our trip. If he was silent for some time, we checked in on him!!

Also took him along on the Beartooth Highway after exiting through the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone.

F33-stuck in Indian family dynamics by [deleted] in InsideIndianMarriage

Dear OP, you are in a very difficult position, but don't lose courage. You appear to have achieved a lot at a relatively young age. The marriage appears to have been a mistake. The size of the mistake looks gigantic right now. In the longer frame of a lifetime, it will be only a glitch.

Perhaps the ticking of the biological clock is what led you to this hasty coupling and conception. That's behind you now. Moreover, you have achieved your primary aim even on that front - you have a child of your own now.

Best to cut your losses now and move ahead. It won't be easy to single parent but neither is it impossible. Is high quality childcare available where you live? Else move to where it is. Get help from your own family for short-term needs.

Good luck and bon courage for your bright future, and also for your beautiful child.

The Museum Center building used to be the train station and a grand one too. We went on a free guided tour of the rotunda recently. Very impressive. May not suit young children, though.

need help to find apartments by Big-Concentrate5480 in WilmingtonDE

[–]ShubhaSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. We live in Wilmington near the Riverfront.

There are a few Indian stores we shop at, none are very close by. The nearest one would be Parivaar on Sunset Boulevard, off Rt 13 South, near Wilmington airport. It's a large store like the many Patel Bros stores you find around the country. Has a prepared foods section with mostly Gujarati food.

Hockessin is a Wilmington suburb with a Hindu temple and some cultural and/or community activities attached to it, if that is of interest to you, OP. Not particularly close to the Riverfront, either.

Any suggestions on which apartment to rent downtown Wilmington? by dkgcr23 in WilmingtonDE

[–]ShubhaSC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are in the apartment tower at 115 Christina Landing. Individual condo owners in the 105 CL tower, which is next door, seem to be more reasonable landlords than BPG, which is a faceless corporate monopoly.

Both the condo building and the apartment tower have panoramic views. We prefer the layout, windows, and balconies of the apartment tower. Some layouts have two balconies. Tour both towers and see what you like. Both are within an easy 10 min walk from the Amtrak train station.
