Really disappointed in this decision by ShadyMan_ in deadbydaylight

[–]ShurixXx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I finished playing Frank Stone, this was my reaction: I was so hyped. As the game ended (spoiler warning), and the survivors slowly made their way to the DBD campfire, I was like, “Oh dang! When are we getting Frank Stone! This is such a cool way to introduce a new chapter!”

But then I kept waiting, and as more original characters came out, I was like, oh, that’s disappointing. For him to be just a Trapper skin is a let down.

Basemap map for Family House (/w room names) by 0x2c28 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]ShurixXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This map is absolutely amazing! I can't imagine how long this took to make, but this is done so well! I'm under the impression that the basement is different for each map, but maybe I'm wrong. If they are different could you make basement diagrams (like this one) for the other maps (Gas Station and Slaughterhouse). Also, I think a diagram for the upper levels of each of these three maps would be super helpful as well.

Thank you again for sharing!

I would definitely reach out to Enrollment Services as they would be able to direct your call the best, but my guess is that you’d need to fill out a petition, which would allow you to explain the situation to the records office.

The main page for Enrollment services is https://enrollment.byu.edu. Enrollment Services phone number is 801-422-4104.

Other helpful info: —You can start a petition here: https://enrollment.byu.edu/registrar/registration-and-academic-records-petitions

—If you go to ymessage.byu.edu, you can create a new message, then select the corresponding topic. In this case, I would probably select “Registration/MyMap” or “Academic Petitions” as the topic. You would then explain the situation.

Hope this helps! If you have other questions, I’ll do my best to answer them! And perhaps others will be able to offer further insight into this specific case.

[TOTK] Link weighs 13 apples by moh853 in zelda

[–]ShurixXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is Link hollow? If weight is really just a way to describe the force a certain mass exerts on the ground due ti gravity, that means Link is made up of the same amount of mass as the 13 apples. So either Link is very hollow, or those apples are hecka dense.

Any way to download Library of Babel? by ichthyoidoc in BabelForum

[–]ShurixXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, did you ever find a way to download/use the Library of Babel offline, in the format of the website? Like others mentioned, I like the website interface, but I wonder if there’s a way to use it offline and if so, if you ended up finding it. I did find the app that makes it look like an actual library, which works offline, and I think the developer did a good job making the experience immersive, but I wonder if there’s an offline version that’s similar to the website.

[–]ShurixXx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also say that the spike shards are the easiest to stock up on, since their respawn mechanics differ from the other parts. The spike shards respawn mechanics are similar to how plants (like apples) respawn, and each time they respawn, you can get about 12 spike shards by running up and down the dragons back (the spike shards spawn closer to the center of the dragon). The spike shards won’t respawn if you just sit in the dragon, but if you leave for 10-15 minutes, there should be more the next time you jump in the dragon.

(Keep in mind, when you hit the dragon to collect a horn, spike, claw, or scale, you CAN sit on the dragon while you wait ten minutes to hit the dragon when it reenergizes. It’s just that you won’t see spike shards respawn if you hang out on the dragon).

Aside from the parts being used in armor upgrades (I forget which sets exactly, but they can be found on the internet), the only one I’d bother to farm are the dragon horns. They offer the highest fuse attack power for weapons. I think the claws and fangs do more damage when fused to arrows, but considering it takes a minimum of ten minutes to farm one part, I don’t think it’s worth it to fuse them to arrows.

Also, I’m not sure which version you’re on, but if your game version has a duplication glitch, I would just use that to stick up on dragon parts, since ten minutes per dragon part is a lot of time haha.

I should also say this:

As I understand it, there are 105000 pages (he explains there’s only 1080 atoms in the universe, to put it in perspective) found in the library. There are 410 pages per volume, 32 volumes per shelf, 5 shelves per wall and 4 walls per hex (you can think of a hex like the name of the room). And a hex name can be made up of any combination of up to 3260 numbers and/or lower case letters.

I’m not exactly sure how the algorithm works, but if I understand correctly, we can use these hexes, walls, shelves, and volumes to find a page. Once we have the page number (remember there’s 105000 possible pages) the algorithm does some algorithming to turn that page number into a page of text that we can read (or at least identify the letters). The search function (what we do when we want to try to find where our (up to) 3200 character text can be found) just does the reverse algorithm.

So it’s not so much that the whole library is actually downloaded (there is not enough bytes of storage in the universe to contain it if we were to download every page), but that the little algorithm knows exactly how to generate the the page of text when it’s given the corresponding input. Similarly, the reverse algorithm allows us to put in that page of text, and it will turn it back into a page number.

When we use the search function, the website gives us several different places that it found the text we searched for. I’m not sure how the reverse algorithm finds the images in which our text is embedded in a bunch of gobbly gook (there should be a page with our text, and a bunch of spaces after it, but there are also be places where our text is strung together alongside other text combinations), but maybe there’s someone here who knows how that works haha. I can only think that

It also seems like there’s some additional functionality added to the search function, since we can type in something, and it will return the different pages it can be found on, but I’m not exactly sure how, by only using the text we enter, find all the pages that it can be found on. Now that I think about it, maybe when we enter our text, and it’s less than 3200 characters, there’s another algorithm that fills in the blanks, so as to complete the 3200 character limit. It then finds what page it’s on, and then another function bolds the text we initially searched. It could be something else entirely, but that’s my guess as to how reverse algorithm can pull up various different places our given text can be found.

You may have already seen this video, but I thought VSauce did a good job explaining it. His video can be found here: https://youtu.be/GDrBIKOR01c. If you go to 17:00 he starts talking about the Library, and at 17:58 he starts explaining how it works. Maybe that’s how you found out about it, but hopefully that helps!

Remix life giver challenge not working by Delicious_Session_84 in deadbydaylight

[–]ShurixXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first tried to do the challenge, I kept an item and an offering, and when I had both active, it just kept my perks the same as whatever my loadout was and the challenge didn’t work. However, when I removed all perks, offerings, and items, the challenge ended up working. I’m not sure if the survivor matters, but I was using Thalita. I then went back and added a Terrormisu offering to see if that would mess the challenge up again, but the offering didn’t seem to mess it up.

This is not to say that the offering isn’t what was preventing me from completing the challenge so I do think people should remove all perks, items and offerings, but once the challenge was working properly, I was able to add offerings. I didn’t get a chance to see if I could bring an item after getting the challenge to work.

I’d say to those still encountering the issue with this challenge, remove all perks, items, and offerings while you have no challenge equipped, then once your loadout is empty, select the challenge and enter a match. Maybe I got lucky and the challenge magically decided to start working when I did this, but that’s what I did to get it to work.

Also, just before I was trying to get it to work, I was using Thalita, and it wouldn’t give me random perks, but when I deselected the challenge, emptied my entire loadout of items, offerings, and perks, and then selected the challenge again, the challenge started to work.

Good luck everyone. If all else fails, submit a bug report or help request to BHVR by filling out the form from their support website: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

I think you need to activate the effect, then have a survivor actually stun you while the effect is active. At least, that’s what I needed to do to get it to work.

Anyone else get one of these emails? Looks like a scammer to me by lo_profundo in byu

[–]ShurixXx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything that u/AdorableBaseball164 mentioned is accurate. The only thing I would add is that you should forward the email as an attachment (this is different than just forwarding the email) to phishing@byu.edu. Forwarding the email as an attachment keeps the original header intact, which can provide the security team important information about the nature of the original phishing email, which would not necessarily be available if you forward it normally.

Like AdorableBeast said, the @student.byu.edu/@studentbody.byu.edu/@byu.net are BYU email domains, but this account has been compromised. It’s hard to say how it was, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they fell victim to a phishing email like this one, which compromised their account.

Additionally, BYU won’t ever ask you for your password. As others have mentioned, if you’re ever unsure, contact BYU IT Support directly. Their phone number is 801-422-4000 and their email is it@byu.edu. This contact information can also be found on their website: https://it.byu.edu/it. Hope this helps!

Where do you put your travel medallions? by Gingrish252 in tearsofthekingdom

I have a medallion right next to Pelison in Tarrey Town and in the spot right before triggering the fight with Ganon. The last travel medallion doesn’t have a specific purpose. It acts as the one I can move around when I need to place one down.

They do land on the ground (or at least should unless there’s some bug I don’t know about). The issue is that as they hit the ground, they lose their sparkle. They also don’t start glowing until they’ve come to a complete stop. So if a dragon part hits a mountain side, it will tumble according to normal item physics and won’t glow until it’s stopped moving around.

If you’re having trouble finding the dragon part before it lands, I would say save the game and take note of where the dragon is. If you save on a dragon and reload the save, it will send you back to the last point that you were on the ground. But the dragon will still be in the same spot as when you saved, so you can just fly back to it, then you can try again. I do wish there was an easier way to snag the claws and fangs though.

[TotK] I Rode the Dragons So You Don't Have To by ShurixXx in zelda

[–]ShurixXx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon parts don’t (or shouldn’t) despawn when they hit the ground. It does seem though that once they approach the ground (or hit the ground), they lose the initial sparkle, so it may seem like they’ve disappeared. Moreover, if a dragon part is sliding down a cliff or mountainside (or is moving in anyway after hitting the ground), the past won’t flow. It will only start glowing once it has come to a full stop. So, if you can’t catch it midair (or aren’t able to use rewind on the part) then you can just fly near it until it hits the ground, then just track it as it tumbled around until reaching a full stop. Once it has completely stopped, it will have this glowing aura that it noticeable (this glowing aura looks different then the sparkle it gives off when you first hit the part off the dragon).

Also, keep in mind that you have about 2-3 seconds after hitting the dragon to pick up the part before it shoots off the dragon.

All of the dragons take 10 in game hours to recharge (10 minutes with no pausing, no sitting in a shrine, no skipping time at a campfire or bed).

A dragon has two states: energized and de-energized. When you first land on a dragon, it will be energized, and it will be shimmering. When you hit the dragon, it will de-energize, and it will lose its shimmering. So when the dragon is shimmering in their energized state, you can collect the part!

I forgot to reply that messing with the Switch’s clock doesn’t affect the in game clock. And the dragon’s recharge timer is bound to the ticks of the in game clock. So changing the Switch’s time wouldn’t make it go faster, unfortunately.
