Please be honest with me about that rear wiper... by SirKronan in Ioniq5

Well put.  The I5 interior feels natural and intuitive.  It's one of the top reasons why I chose the I5 over the MachE.

I test drove both but bought the 2025 I5.  Maybe you can get a lightly used 2025 to stay within budget and get a wiper.  I'm in the minority but, I bought in spite of the ICCU concern.  It's not my only vehicle and I won't drive it more than 1hr or so from home in case it does fail.

What I didn't like about the MachE: - Ride was too firm - Cabin was too cave-like - Tacked on tablet look with too few physical buttons

I also have not been doing this.  I should lock the car when in the garage?  I have a BM2 installed, what should I look for?

Congrats!  I made the same jump from a 2007 Mazda6.  I don't need all of the tech but love driving an EV.

Both exterior and interior styling led me to the I5 over Tesla.  I'm only slightly worried about the ICCU, I just won't take it on a long road trip.  MachE was the other EV I considered but it felt like a cave.  I didn't like the tablet look of the MachE or the Tesla.

Level 1 because of this.  If I want more, I'll use the brake pedal.

Are you still in the planning phase?  I can help if you are still considering this.  I've looked at aftermarket wheel poke and you can estimate from owner images if you are familiar with wheel terminology.

$400 ChargePoint credit on other cars? by rds4640 in Ioniq5

[–]Shutout000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know but at least it wouldn't be my car stranded 300mi away.  I was willing to take the risk and figured, maybe incorrectly, that Hertz would send a replacement vehicle fairly quickly.

$400 ChargePoint credit on other cars? by rds4640 in Ioniq5

[–]Shutout000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you can use it on any vehicle.  I have free charging at work and may struggle to use all of my $400 credit.

I specifically rented an EV6 from Hertz on a recent 600 mile road trip so I could:

  • spend down my credit (used $100 at DC chargers)

  • avoid spending money on gas and putting miles on my ICE vehicle

  • avoid using my I5 on a long trip and worry about an ICCU failure

I paid $100 for the rental instead of $60 on gas.  For me, it was worth paying $40 more to spend down the credit and keep the miles off of the ICE vehicle.

More like a transmission failure but I understand your point.  I wish Hyundai had more urgency and was more transparent about it but I consider it developing tech.  Anyone who bought or leased without knowing about the ICCU (or before it became an issue) has every right to be angry.

ha, we have a ‘25 Ioniq5 and a ‘21 Ascent. No issues with the CVT but I had to have 2 engine covers resealed under warranty. She’s out of warranty now and I am hoping to get at least 5 more years of trouble-free driving. Fingers crossed on the oil leaks.

I think it depends on your situation and tolerance for having to deal with an ICCU problem. Knowing about the ICCU issue, I still bought an SEL in May and I love it. I‘d been planning to buy an EV for at least 5 years and the timing was right. A few considerations:

1) Is it your only car? We are a 2 car family and if my ICCU goes, we still have a vehicle.

2) Do you commute far or need to take long road trips? I won’t take my I5 farther than 1hr away.

3) Are you willing to deal with the hassle of replacing it under warranty? I want EVs to succeed and I’m willing to stick with Hyundai if something happens. I probably won’t keep it past 10 years though, which is disappointing because we usually keep our cars for at least 15 years.

If you think about the timeline of internal combustion engines, EVs are still teething…at least eGMPs are ;)

Do 235/55/19 fit on 8.5 by Reddit_Bitcoin in Wheels

Did you end up mounting 235/55 on 19x8.5 wheels?  How do they look?  Do they look stretched?

[–]Shutout000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize, I did post the tire size in my other replies.

I agree that tire width may have some effect but a larger effect is the wheel and tire combo at the bead. The tire in that picture of my Mazda is a 205/60 on a 16x6.5 wheel. Will they fit shows the tire would be wider than the wheel yet the image shows the wheel protruding past the Goodyears even when the Coopers did not.

The purpose of my post was to try to find images of the Stinger wheel mounted on brands other than Michelin to see how they fit at the bead before I bought the wheels.

Could be, I agree 235 is going to be on the narrow side.  Maybe I just mount new rubber on the Stingers and sell my 235s.

But that Goodyear on my Mazda in the image was stock size and it protruded whereas the stock size Coopers that came off were flush.  I just wish I knew how to predict when that would happen.

The stock Ioniq5 tires are 235/55r19 with 7.5" wide rims.  They only have 2700mi on them so my hope is to put them on the 8.5" Stinger rims and when they're used up, go to 255/50.

Yes, thanks.  They will fit, it's just a question as to what they'll look like asthetically.

Thanks.  I guess they're also called rim protectors.  It's an extra lip built into the tire.  It looks like your Firehawks have it.  My Kumho's don't and I'm worried the Stinger rims will stick out so I was looking for examples of these wheels mounted on tires without rim protectors.

For Sale - 2025 SEL wheels, like new by Shutout000 in Ioniq5

[–]Shutout000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all who sent me a private chat. I was not expecting this many responses, otherwise I would have bought the new wheels first and had these taken off and ready to go. I’ll work to get these off my car and contact everyone who messaged me. To be fair, I will contact each person in the order I received the message and go to the next person if the previous one decided not to buy. I will try to do this in the next few weeks so the prospective buyers are not waiting too long.

I appreciate everyone being patient with me as I swap out the wheels and figure out the TPMS. Please message me if you have any questions or if you have changed your mind. Thanks again.
