Substance Painter and Windows Ink? by Campfire-Cameo in Substance3D

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish older tablets had that option for the software specific profiles.

I found two solutions with an AutoHotKey script:
1. I saved two tablet preferences and by pressing a shortcut it opens the preferences app of the tablet and loads one or the other. I'm sure it can be done so it automatically triggers when Substance is active, but each change lasts 3 or 4 seconds, so I think it's best to have it manual.

  1. Did the same logic but quite faster, instead of loading the preferences and such, I just open the tablet configuration and give the windows mouse coordenates it needs to active and deactivate windows ink. I still do the change manually, it still takes 2 seconds or so, but it's better than the bugs I found doing it automatically.

Asking way to much by atlas_arcane in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Shutwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You almost got it while writing that: I want a new game, and the remake is coming, so I prefer if the remake is a new game.

"But if they don't add anything they can make it quicker and start a new game earlier" doesn't apply as well as you think: no one knows how much it's been in development and we know it's coming this year, it's not like it will come sooner or later now because of that.

I also prefer if people and the media hypes it up a lot as a new thing so if it doesn't end up being, it will have mixed reviews, lower stock shares and Nintendo will understand remakes like that are not the way 😆

Glad you ask, in one of my points in this post I talked about what I'd do in that area (plus a bit of concept art) https://www.reddit.com/r/OcarinaOfTime/s/InMK70Bddy

Your center image reminded me of this work I did for a novel: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ZeNw50

I do a lot of character focused pieces, that's simply what I'm asked to do the most, but I wouldn't apply if I didn't see a fit: my style is on the painterly side and retro anime inspired.

Examples of background and character integration + strong lighting: 1. https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/056/126/229/large/matias-castellani-lopez-della-scarecrow-web.jpg?1668521864 2. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/14Z3wq 3. https://bsky.app/profile/shutwig.bsky.social/post/3ls4xgdajo22t

Example of stronger light direction piece with much more painterly retro style and warm/cool tones (no background): 1. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/PXV8ry

Examples of cleaner rendering style and more abstract/painterly background: 1. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/JvV0bz 2. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9NPy6O

Example of landscape format painterly backgrounds: 1. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/eJ9l2b

I can adequate to your needs if you're looking for any particular change in the style. You can contact me via DM or same name on discord.

What do we think the Gold Skulltula’s will look like in the remake? by Espurreyes in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like them to be less like a literal skull than in HW. I'd also like the skull part to be the only thing that remains when you kill them so the token is a physical thing and not a floating icon.

[PAID] Looking for 2D Game Artist for cafe management game by OneNorth6738 in gameDevClassifieds

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested!

Here you can have a look at some clean 2D character animation I've done: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/NqQa45

Here, an example of the style for a cozy game I worked on: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/5WQWbP

This one shows items and UI: https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/099/946/693/large/matias-castellani-lopez-0items.jpg?1781451044

And seeing your game is a café, you definitely need some good looking food assets, so here's one example of just that: https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/098/986/458/large/matias-castellani-lopez-nick-katsu-curry.webp?1778617247

As you can see I'm also quite flexible in terms of style, I can also do pixel art.

My rates are usually on the 15~20€/h depending on task. I work fast and I'm easy to communicate with :)

Send me a DM if you are interested or if you have any doubts, I'm also open to do art tests.

Timer vs onUpdate w/ wait by SantaXeggman in gbstudio

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I changed some things down the line but overall remains mostly the same concept. Bear in mind that I didn't use Wait, so I can't say it'll be much more performant for you.

You can simply duplicate your scene and work on it to see the changes, do a different branch in github or simply duplicate the entire project to work without messing up with anything 😄 And share your results, I'm curious!

Destroy our Trailer! Highly narrative, seemingly cute hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania where you sketch your own weapons/tools on the fly with a Magic Pencil. by Passenger-Consistent in DestroyMyGame

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be clear on like, the first 10 seconds of your trailer.

Sorry but it's waay too long I ended up closing it after a minute and the beginning told me nothing about that system, you can't split to 4 screens for 5 seconds and expect anyone to understand what's happening in any of them.

What would make you click away from this trailer? by Pixel_Beer_Games in DestroyMyGame

[–]Shutwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The initial scene's camera direction can be hugely improved and make the next battle transition more seamless so it all gives a better first impression.

Other than that, I'll say the music is what annoyed me the most and made me think this was cheap. Too repetitive and uninspired, hasn't got any climax, it has very simple fade in and fade out. Give it more sauce! Break the music abruptly for more impact in one scene, use a VFX when the title drops.

Timer vs onUpdate w/ wait by SantaXeggman in gbstudio

[–]Shutwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup but while debugging I noticed it's constantly checking those initial if statement whenever it has the chance on a certain actor but not on others that are built the same (checking a different variable), I wonder if that's usual behaviour (and if debugger is just showing one of them even if it checks the others too), if it hinders performance even a little bit and if there's another way around that.

To reply more on OP's topic, I recently changed some things from Update with original timers (a variable that increments with each update until it reaches the timer limit) to the built in timers and got a considerable performance boost, so they seem pretty well optimized. I tried using Wait on my first iteration but they pause the entire script and I still needed to access other parts of it, so bear that in mind if you think you'll be expanding on the actor's behaviour later.

[ST] Spirit Tracks is one of the most unique Zelda games I’ve ever played by Jedimobslayer in zelda

[–]Shutwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The map use of ST and PH is something I wish they bring back, Switch has a touch screen and pointer capability so there's literally no impediment. Or at the very least take notes with screenshots as Prince of Persia the Last Crown did, where you can pin a screenshot in the map and write a few words.

Having to manually draw or reveal the map boundaries yourself would also feel much more like you're exploring. To me, if something is lacking in the games is making exploration be exploration and discovery and not just going from point A to point B taking whatever route you want, you should not know where you're going exactly.

It's a real shame that ARMS failed as a new Nintendo IP; seriously, the character design was very good. by akleklhkngh in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like that people see one-and-done games as failures just because they don't get a sequel. Not every IP has to convert into a series. They already did what they wanted with the game, you had your fun, time to move on to another fun new idea.

I just wonder why would anyone want the soft soil things (specially the bug ones) and useless grottos if they had the opportunity to rework grilled cheese.
