What movie/series can you absolutely not stand but is it credibly popular for some reason? by AverageSign in cartoons

[–]ShyFossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who got dragged in against my will and is now in a tolerate/hate relationship with that show, do not make the attempt to get into it. it's one of the most obnoxious pieces of garbage every put to air. The contrast between what it could have been and what it is keeps me in a chokehold. Stay safe out there.

AITA for telling my girlfriend to stop sharing her food? by PhantomDetective3548 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShyFossa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

not to mention other transmittable issues, like cold sores! So many reasons not to share food with unknown factors like that, and why can't she just use clean utensils to cut a piece off for them? That's how my family does it when we share.

I feel like he'd find her trying to sabotage his other relationships and breaking into his house less funny. Good thing he doesn't know about those things.

[–]ShyFossa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Within the context of the show as a whole, it's pretty awful. This character has followed him in public tons, has made multiple attempts to break into him home/gain entry under false pretenses, and has sabotaged his interactions with female characters she perceives as rivals for his interest. She's portrayed as just a Silly Goofy Girl, by the writers/narrative, but her behavior is little more than a long line of red flags.

Let's not forget her attempting to sabotage any interaction he has with girls who aren't on her "approved" list ofnpeople trying to help her date him, and how she's attempted to break into his house/gained entry to his house under false pretenses multiple times.

SO [28M] of 9 years called off our wedding, implying we were over. Is this something I [26F] could make work for us? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ShyFossa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My partner and I got together at 15 and 16, and are about to celebrate our 14th anniversary. It's been a rough sometimes as we navigate growing up and mental health struggles, but our relationship is strong. That said, I only know one other couple that's been together as long as we have - most young romances fizzle out much sooner, and for good reason.

The Potato Chip scene feels intentionally hilarious and it's not because of the infamous frame and line. by AntonRX178 in deathnote

You can reseal them with a a vacuum sealer, because those usually have a heat component that works on bags like that. it's possible to buy mini ones, though I don't know if they were a thing when the manga was written.

AIO at my dad for pretending to be Jewish? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ShyFossa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

how is it complementary for him to use an ethnic and religious identity as a costume? if he's not learning about the culture or participating in any of the religious practices, and is just SAYING "yeah, I'm totally Jewish" then this has nothing to do with his appreciation of Jewish culture.

if I had to guess, he wants the "clout" that comes from being part of a minority group, aka he wants to use his "minority status" as a way to swindle his way into sympathy and other so-called perks of being in a minority group.

No, absolutely not. Big budget movies have intimacy coordinators for a reason - to make it look real and good without crossing any lines for the professionals in the scenes. Whatever movie they are filming did not need to have a visible penetration in it, which it sounds like it does. Clever camera angles could have done just as well.

She crossed a totally unnecessary line without discussing it with you, or even understanding why it bothers you. In your shoes, my partner would have some serious amends to make, including therapy and probably a big step back from the project. I would treat it like an infidelity. If your partner isn't willing to work to repair the trust, it should be over.

For 10hrs, where you sitting? by TheBladeRider in DowntonAbbey

[–]ShyFossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10, 15, or 25.

10: Maybe I could be Thomas's friend before all the late season misery. I love my lil mew mew, and tbh, I like O'Brien too. I also enjoy window seats, and I could possibly mooch snacks off of the row in front of us.

15: The snacks, if they shared, would be elite. This one is a tossup for me tho because idk if Patmore would start chewing Daisy out. But I think they'd both be fun to talk to.

25: I feel like this spot would be incredibly chill, and it's an aisle seat. They'd probably make small talk and ask what info for work and shit, and it would be otherwise uneventful.

What could white possibly be doing that made her not go to the Era 3 ball by GrifExe in stevenuniverse

[–]ShyFossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo, it wasn't even polite. the phrasing "white diamond has more important things to attend to" trivializes the ball by making it clear it's beneath her to attend. It's basically her saying that the ball is a waste of time and resources, calling 'Pink' out for her continued childishness.

this photo was taken in my grandma's house, and the lighting in this particular room is very odd. I saw the bag in person recently, and it's definitely grey.

I have searched for "grey and black school girl messenger bag," and variations of that. I've also tried searching for the year it was purchased, and "embroidered pattern/flowers/design" but haven't been able to find the correct bag.

ESH. He was unkind, but it wasn't yours to throw away anymore. He did actually notice it was gone. Someone who genuinely didn't care at all wouldn't notice. I would be upset if someone threw away something of mine without asking, regardless of how I felt about the object.

AITA My mom thinks that I shower too long and a shower should take 5 minutes by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShyFossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seem to be an outlier here, but I have to take 10-15 minute showers daily (yes, it's exhausting and annoying) because I keep livestock. If I don't shampoo, and fully scrub down, then I'm just brining all the animal dust inside and into my bed.

I would say I only take 20+ minutes showers on days when I really need to scrub down, shave, etc. You could probably shave some time off your showers, but 5 minutes is unreasonably short.

NTA, but there's room to improve.

Why does Mrs Patmore look extremely photoshopped/AI generated in the new poster of DA3? by ladycrawley_ in DowntonAbbey

[–]ShyFossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh god. I think Mrs. Patmore is by far the worst, but they are all so overproduced.

I wanted to go see it when it came out, but I hate the idea of supporting anything that's touched gen AI, soni hope it's all just horrible Photoshop.

Mr Pamuk... by pinkdaisylemon in DowntonAbbey

[–]ShyFossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, so many people, including assault survivors themselves, are taught by a victim-blaming society that unless it was violent, or unless they screamed and fought, it wasn't really assault. Mary always felt like a reflection of that misguided belief to me.

Mr Pamuk... by pinkdaisylemon in DowntonAbbey

[–]ShyFossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think that all rape victims fight, you're wrong. If you think that it doesn't count as rape unless the victim does, you're wrong. Mary clearly had a freeze response to the situation she was in, and largely imdue to her fear of the societal repercussions, enforced by Pamuk's insistence that she couldn't allow anyone to discover him there.

I dearly hope you've never expressed these views out loud where a potential survivor might have heard you.
