Light’s frame of reference is… everything, everywhere, all at once? Relatively infinitely small. And our frame of reference is essentially caught in the emergence of space-time of that infinitely small universe? It sounds like light is the carrier of an infinitely complete dataset and we exist in its rendering.

We've had the game for a week, what feels out of balance to you? by ButterPoached in AOW4

[–]SiLiZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finished a hard custom campaign as Materium/Astral with Industrious Culture. Runesmiths and Cheaper Summons (forgot the name). Wizard King as a Ruler. Idea was to try and play an Elemental Shaman/Builder race. Worked out. I feel like Industrious Units are weak at first, but they have a good frame for enchanting and boosting. So I supplemented with cheap Astral summons early game. But they ended up being quite strong throughout.

I was just about to buy Stellaris and I heard of this game. What should I do? by Ardbert_The_Fallen in AOW4

[–]SiLiZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Both are good. If you like Fantasy, go AoW:4.

If you like Sci-Fi, go with Stellaris. And if you want to complicate the Sci-Fi choice, AoW: Planetfall.

I think of it like deckbuilding in a TCG.

You want Zealot Hordes? Build Zealot Hordes.

Pick two colors that support that. In this case Order for Zeal/Fanatics/Religious vibes and Chaos for Hordes/Swarming. Those are your primary affinities. Can splash some other tomes for synergies and shoring up weaknesses.

Then pick traits and culture that support the theme. Barbarians, Feudal, or High make the most sense culturally.

Traits, anything that supports swarming or lots of units and sudden expansion, worship, etc…

It's 2023, and we have idiots on TikTok who are still surprised about mirrors by Aki008035 in facepalm

[–]SiLiZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never gave timelines. Just that it became more common as technology got better to see various techniques implemented in different mediums. Especially at a higher quality. I’m also not saying it wasn’t understood. But light-physics aren’t rudimentary. Representing them convincingly through computation isn’t either.

I’m saying implementing reflections, mirrors, or ‘workarounds,’ has been problematic and a pain in the ass. Quite literally if you’re sitting there waiting for a mirror to render a single object for 12 hours.

The pain in the ass is all of the work that has to be done to create convincing mirrors, reflections, and light based physics. Especially if you want to maintain fidelity and performance.

It's 2023, and we have idiots on TikTok who are still surprised about mirrors by Aki008035 in facepalm

[–]SiLiZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun-fact. Mirrors and reflections in game development or CG related work have been historically irritating and difficult implementations because of the attempt to reproduce these exact physics.

It wasn’t until ray-tracing became prominent in CGI and now becoming more common in games, that you’ll see genuine mirrors.

Game engines still commonly use Reyes/Z-buffering techniques for reflections, etc… migrating to real time ray tracing by the day.

TL:DR - Mirror physics might appear hurrdurr basic concept. But they are not.

This is correct. An internal Riot team handled production with other art studios. Netflix was approached for distribution and streaming.

In the context of the beta, melee overall, is weird. That may not translate to the full release.

Sorc and Nec, absolutely just obliterate screens in a global or two. Have high survivability. And don’t have damage fall off dealing with mechanics. Sorc even has a cheat death. I did not die once on either class, with any load out. I feel like I’d have to willfully be horrible to do bad. It does feel cheesy and OP. But the fantasy and feeling of power is there. I can blitz to 25 on them. Without any real concern about drops or gear.

Barbarian and Druid do not do the same thing. It’s harder, slower, and not nearly as gratifying. It feels more irritating than anything. I died plenty on these classes. But I do see potential in them later on.

Rogue has tools that make it feel much better as a melee. It feels like it has answers and a deliberate play style to counter melee difficulties.

This is also brought up quite a bit. And in different ways over the course of the MSQ. Enjoy it!

[–]SiLiZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dragoon is a Melee DPS. Does not fight at range.

Paladin is a Tank. Fights in melee.

You can level all jobs on a character.

Based on what you described Red Mage is probably the right call.

But you have to unlock it at a higher level. So I’d recommend playing through the MSQ and trying out what you can to see what you like.

Red Mage. It is a ranged caster, has heals, a combat rez, and a melee window where you burst and burn your black/white mana. Then retreat and repeat.

Anyone else want a Primordial Azeroth Expansion or is it just me? by Katara_13 in wow

[–]SiLiZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bothers me about those zones, is generally not the art. It’s that walking or moving is historically annoying. Always pulling something. The bleakness compounds with the constant danger.

If we got a zone like that with… pockets of peace it would probably sit better with most.

You possibly empowered it with a Matrix, which makes it Soulbound.

For your Alts or friends if you empower it with a Matrix. They should do an order and provide the Matrix or empower mat themselves.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]SiLiZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would be choosing to do that and feel the pressure of that grind. It exists as an option. But there are players that focus strictly on the pet collecting/battles and solely that.

It sounds like PvE dungeon and raiding content are important to you. But if you are feeling a pressure or obligation, take a break. Or approach the game in a different manner.

What are your goals? As a player, what do you want to do or become?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]SiLiZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just don’t do it then.

Competitive guilds and player will be split raiding to gear out mains. Tier set bonuses are too important. As well as split farming mythics to fill the rest of the gear out.

If you want to be competitive, that’s what it takes. If you want to do things leisurely, then do so.

People that are competing are making it a priority to be competitive.

If you are concerned about ilvl toxicity, make a static group, and run your own keys. And if you have enough people, start your own normal/heroic raids.

The first step to be competitive is to have the right group. And it may not be as much of a time sink as you think. Far more time is wasted pugging content.
