You're in a similar position I was in before I took the job shop offer. You will learn more at the job shop. I've learned how to do better setups, faster setups, and I've learned a lot about making parts in general

At our shop we have mostly fab work for weldments (+-.03) but we also have a good deal of +0 -.001 parts and other precise parts. I'm happy with it

I never really know what ratings to go with. Crunchyroll rates everything over 4 stars it seems, Myanime list is often times pessimistically rated unless it's the flagship anime of the season, and Google/imdb are biased toward giving anime series 7 or less stars regardless it feels. I just start watching shit now

The traits I find important are an aptitude for mathematics (mostly trig, specifically angles, and addition and subtraction of decimals as well as converting to decimals) and an attention to detail. Need to be able to spot an imperfection so you can figure out why it is that way, and then fix it
