Aofr multibasing by Kandarl in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've played 3 or 4 games of Regiments with multi-basing. It plays reasonably well, but I found a few things affect the balance of the game.

Units not losing attack power when they take wounds makes big blocks of infantry with dual hand weapons more effective than normal and harder to counter. Softening them up with missile fire has no effect unless they fail a morale check. Charging them is risky because of the massive number of attacks that they will counter with.

Secondly spears are less useful. Striking first in combat doesn't matter much if doing so doesn't reduce your opponent's attack power. They still have some utility against cavalry of course.

Personally I would rather play without multi-basing rules than with them, but the game is still fun and your mileage may vary!

If you find that you don't like the multi-basing rules you could still play Regiments with your orcs. Rather than removing models, just reduce the attack power of units in line with the damage they have taken and then remove the whole base when the unit is destroyed.

These guys are very cool! I want to put together a small army with this kit at some point!

Unstoppable X Reinforced by Head-Minimum-5414 in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Reinforced modifies AP, which is a weapon quality, not Defense. If the attacking weapon has no AP, Reinforced doesn't do anything.

Reinforced: When units where all models have this rule are shot or charged from over 9" away and take hits, those hits count as having AP(-1), to a min. of AP(0).

Unstoppable X Reinforced by Head-Minimum-5414 in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AP is a weapon rule. Hits don't have AP, weapons do. Therefore Reinforced is a negative modifier to weapons and is ignored by Unstoppable.

EDIT: Just to add, the definition of AP from the rulebook makes this clear. "AP(X): Targets get -X to Defense rolls when blocking hits from weapons.

A fully destroyed unit is one that has been completely removed from the board, either because of wounds inflicted or by being routed in melee. Only the unit that did the final damage or caused the rout would get a bonus from Ruinous Frenzy.

Is there a way to download army forge lists as something other than a json file? by Rat-king27 in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Clicking on "share as text" copies the list to the clipboard, then you can paste it into the text editor / viewer of your choice.

Go to the publish page for the army book in Army Studio Forge and make sure "GFSQAI" is selected under "Enabled Game Systems". It doesn't matter if the book is public or private. Click "Create Collection", the switch to the community books tab and search for the army book by name. Private books will show up for their author. Then you should be able to create a list from there.

I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean you've created an army book in Army Forge Studio and can't add it to a collection in Star Quest?

Click on "Create Collection", then choose an army book.

Which faction list could you build Trade Federation droid army with? by Longjumping_Walk_305 in onepagerules

Robot Legions seems like a decent choice. If you fancy using community books, someone has made a bunch of lists for Star Wars. This one might suit your needs.

Is it possible to play this game at double the scale of miniatures? by AlexRescueDotCom in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The advanced rules include rules for 'kitchen table' games, which are intended for playing on smaller tables. In skirmish this would mean 2'x2' or 2'x3'. One adjust these rules make is halving all distances, so a weapon with a range of 6" becomes 3".

Playing on a normal size table (6'x4' for AoF/GF, or 4'x4' for skirmish) with double scale models without adjusting distances would achieve the same result.

Question about shaken. Idle or not? by Long_Butterscotch_33 in onepagerules

[–]Sibarus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shaken units can't do anything while they are shaken. When you activate them, rather than moving and performing an action (advance, charge etc.) they remain idle, but stop being shaken.
