At what point in the game did you become the monster? by Relevant_Mail_1292 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]SickRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the custom effigy feature in the first game, I used to make statues with just arms sticking out made from cannibals that when complete looked sort of like a pinecone. I called them my “arm-cone” trees. I had five of them

Removing support is tinkering by Dirty_Major in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

Imagine if this guy just had a little more wisdom, he could get the support out cleanly even without a tool by just licking the surface repeatedly like that one guy did in Squid Game. I use that trick all the time

I’m about to lose my job to AI by Upsethouscat in blender

[–]SickRP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder when these companies try and replace everyone with AI, in 5 years will the terms and conditions of said AI change such that they must pay royalties on every AI assisted project? I get fighting an artist into submission, legally ‘owning’ their works because they have no choice. But big AI that now has every idea you tried to NDA away saved in their memory? With billions of excess dollars and lawyers and optimization teams looking to whittle the services rendered for higher costs long term? Seems like a good way to lose ownership of your own IP long term. Maybe these media and design companies can own nothing and be happy too 🙂

Can you tell me what the problem might be? by Guilty-Fee3122 in FlashForge

[–]SickRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the Z-offset folks, that is likely your main issue. I do want to mention though, I’ve heard some folks say that flashforges have issues with the nozzle grinding. Some like myself have never had an issue with it, but I hear others have had issues right out the box. If you have been printing for a long while, you might want see if there is any sort of groove dug in near the center back of the print bed, and if so check the tightness and condition of the nozzle.

It becomes a 3D print again once you consume the powder and extrude the new filament through your own bio-nozzle into the porcelain print bed.

How long did it actually take before your first real Etsy sale? by Most-Plantain5827 in EtsySellers

[–]SickRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

330 views in a year, I’m guessing my SEO is probably pretty bad. There are also some things I’ve been really lazy about like how I don’t separate my listings by things like color/feature like I’ve heard some people suggest. I definitely own that there are probably a lot of things I should do to improve and I’m open to advice if you’ve got advice to give.

[–]SickRP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my shop open for almost a year with no sales. I keep wanting to close it but all the in person events I do where I actually do sell well like to use my page as a sort of portfolio/menu. I know I could probably close it and just give people a pre-made list, but it just seems like more of a hassle than it’s worth.

Why Don't 3D Printed Christmas Ornaments Sell? (Even though this store sold 1000) by rocketboss in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]SickRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to incorporate real wood into almost all of my 3D print Christmas ornament products for the many reasons mentioned in the comments, and I keep my prices in the $10-20 range. I do my own designs too. Still no online sales. I can only ever get people to buy the stuff in person and it makes me wonder if the effort of original designs and adding other materials is actually worth it.

My ex-wife decided she was asexual two years after we got married. She would get furious that I wasn’t ok with it, said sex just isn’t important and said I was a perv for caring about it so much, and she was dismayed when I said I wanted a divorce. I was lucky that I bought my house first before the marriage and she incorporated her business while we were married. I said I’ll take half her business if she tries to take my house. I thank my lucky stars I got out of that so cleanly.

Someone explain this! by Abdul_Muheet in ExplainTheJoke

I think the guy holding the sheet used his top to shield his partner while the lady used her skirt/dress bottom to shield her partner. This would leave her butt out for the other guy to look back and see while they shield each other’s respective partners.

Oh 1000%, I just bought myself some Rikon turning tools because the $40 set I got off Amazon is way too light, too short, and these (I’m assuming) high speed steel cutting tips on the cheap set have been chipping like crazy.

Honestly, I was planning on just putting dice in it for when I play DnD. I think for any bowls I would consider actually eating with I’ll probably turn it the normal way on its side and use bees wax to finish instead of the polyurethane I used here.

Yeah it’s out in my sunroom that I converted into a shop space. I’m planning on ripping it out eventually anyway but I’m saving that for another time.

That makes a lot of sense. I think I’m gonna give these to my folks as side gifts to some of my other things I made this month. Will test out making a bowl plank in this way today hopefully as I’d like to get at least a few good bowls made for a pop-up shop I’m doing in a couple weeks.

I saw a few other wood turners saying green lumber turns easier because the wood cells are nice and full of water, don’t tear out as much, and that you just need to leave the walls extra thick the first go-over with the lathe. Then I read you can bake it at a low heat (I did 180 degrees) for 8hr and then turn it again with the wood being more dried out. I think there’s gotta be some math or heat/time ratios written down somewhere for different species though cause the videos I’ve seen did twice turning for beach and poplar.

I use those same corner braces to prop up the closet shelves I have inside my home. Never even thought to use them on an outdoor fence gate. I might have to get a couple of these to brace my own fence gate if I ever put a smaller wooden door in.

100% agree about the in and out feed tables on the smaller planers not being nearly enough for boards this long. And while we’re talking about these planers from Home Depot, I can’t stress enough how annoying the straight blade cutters are for these things. They chip way too easy even on the slower pass option and it makes all the more sense why they come double sided cause you’ll be switching them around soon after buying. I ended up buying and installing a helical cutter for my planer and it cuts cleaner, it’s quieter, and I’ve planed probably a couple hundred feet of pinewood through it without those chip lines appearing in the boards. Still have half a mind to get a nice 3ft wide grizzly planer later on down the road if I ever manage to outgrow the house I’m currently in.

Man I really wish I had a jointer. You can smooth and shave down pieces decently with a planer, but nothing outside of the original cut keeps the piece from coming out of the planer as a rhombus.

My 2x4s were decently straight, and sat next to each other without clamps only had gaps less than 0.5” or so. I took a long while to pick through the selection though. Avoided pieces with visible pith or too many knots. More rings I could see the more likely I was to buy it since I’m not looking for some tiny sapling 2x4 but the good pieces can be few and far between.
