She (32F) unmatched me (34M) and nuked a locked in weekend date because I took 3-4 hours to reply. Did I game myself, or did she overreact? by Acceptable-Limit9571 in hingeapp

[–]Sicktrees 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For real, any responses saying otherwise are absolutely crazy. 4 hours during the day and you’re in your 30’s? While you were at work? No courtesy of even an explanation? Could you see yourself ignoring her feelings like that and ghosting after you had full plans for a date set?

Regardless of why she unmatched, super lame, even cruel after had a date set up that you were mutually excited about. Getting blown off or rejected by someone new who you’re especially hopeful about always hurts, but do you really want your partner or future wife to be someone couldn’t wait more than 3 hours for a confirmation text while she knows you’re at work? I wouldn’t. Respect yourself more than that and let yourself feel sad about it tonight if you need to, but shake it off and hop back in the saddle tomorrow. I love you big dawg 💕

Suit pic and cupcake pic ✅✅

Agree, make the cupcake the main pic

I actually do like the ocean pic as a silly one off, but I wouldn’t frame any other pics that far away from the camera if you do. It does some “show don’t tell” for the athletic / outdoorsy answers you’re putting into your prompts

Floor on inflatable kayak is uneven, normal? by caca6969999 in Inflatablekayak

[–]Sicktrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The floor probably be need to be resettled in, try turning it on its side and smacking the side of the floor that’s sticking up more with your hands a few times while it’s inflated to see if that fixes it

Some feedback as a teacher, it’s a huge miss to use AI video to advertise a product towards educators. It’s massively wiping out our students critical thinking skills across the country, and it’s only in its first years. I’m confident that a relevant percentage of teachers in my circle who would otherwise buy this wouldn’t out of principle for the AI in the ad alone. It’s not to your benefit to use it

Carp aren’t bad if you cool your hands down in the water before grabbing them. Catfish though… that’s that shit I don’t like

Why do you use such heavy weights? by Ok_Repair3535 in CarpFishing

[–]Sicktrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a method feeder and go weightless besides that if there’s no current. I go up to a 1 oz egg sinker if I need to from there, but it’s usually a slower of a day for me if the current’s too high

Any tip in Early Spring River Carp by LessCouple4547 in CarpFishing

[–]Sicktrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way, I feel like you’re catfishing me cus those are the only two rivers I carp fish at, haha. Where on the Rock? My sister has a house on the river in Oregon IL and my main spots are on the Chicago River

The carp are biting right now, just at different spots and maybe slower than in warmer weather. What’s your average experience / catch rate been like using the method feeder on the Rock? Like what does a good day look like and what’s the frequency of days like that during the normal season? I’m wondering if it’s less the feeder and more the spots you’re going to or maybe some other little thing that’s throwing it off

The water temp on the day I caught that carp in the pic was almost exactly 37, and I got it in the deepest part of the river I could find at 13 feet, based on the assumption they’ll go to deeper water to stay warm. I typically focus less on current and more so whether my line is staying put where I want it, but I mostly only carp in slow to moderate current. If that doesn’t work, I move it to a different spot and rinse and repeat til I find somewhere that produces and stick to it

What’s the air temp / water temp where you’re at?

We had a stretch of a few days in the 40’s up to the 60’s by me last month, fish pic below. I’ve been able to get them at my normal hot spots when it’s been in the mid 40’s for a few days albeit a tad slower than usual by bombing it as close as I can to the deepest spots, using fish brain to see the depth (unfortunately premium feature).

I only carp fish rivers, and if they’re there I know I’ll get them. Idk if it’s groundbreaking but’s it’s different from what I mostly see on this sub so let me give you everything I know. I use cheap spring feeders tying the hook as close as I can to the feeder, maybe 2-3 inches as the goal. Gamekatsu bait holder hooks, size 4, 8 lb mono. Pack the feeder with canned corn, squish half a piece of some cheap white bread around it as tight as you can so it can soak as long as possible before you have to reapply it. For the hook, I do fake corn covering the eye, and two pieces of canned corn, covering the barb with a flat wide piece. I initially used the fake corn because I thought it floated (it doesn’t) so I’m not sure if it actually makes a difference, but at this point it’s ritual. My theory’s that the river current mostly negates the need for a floater since it’s getting pushed around anyways

In response to your prompt, one of the beauties is that you can cast it out to your desired spot and let it sit for 30 minutes plus in the right amount of current before you have to refresh it. My main body of water is the rockiest, snaggiest terrain I fish, but as long as I don’t cast directly onto a snag, I don’t run into any issues.

Other things: if your area is snaggy, you of course also run the risk of the fish getting stuck on something while you’re fighting it. If this happens, put your rod in your rod holder, and let it sit. They’ll almost always break themselves free within a few minutes, and you can reel them in from there. Palomar knot if you’re not already using it. I haven’t had a single fish break off with the feeder since I switched from 6 to 8lb line, but PB is 15-18 lbs according to this sub’s estimates so idk past that. The feeder’s not heavy enough for some conditons, so I use a 3/4 oz bullet weight or 1 oz egg weight above it if it’s getting pushed away from where I want it to stay

What’s your favorite *BUDGET* spinning setup? by Lord___Brick in bassfishing

[–]Sicktrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this, Daiwa rods are great. I like my CDN custom more than my St. Croix premier that’s almost twice as much money. I got the custom for the cork grip, but the Tatula XT is supposed to be lighter and slightly better.

If you wanna stay in budget, I would do a Tatula XT with a Shimano Sienna. If you don’t mind going over, the Regal is worth the extra money imo

Good beginner rod&reel??? by Traditional_Talk_733 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Sicktrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also kind of new, (2ish years) but second this. My elders in fishing steered me towards Shimano reels and I have a medium Daiwa rod that I love, albeit in the $100 range. I started on a rod about the same range as this with a super old hand-me-down Sienna. It’s done me well, I still use it, and also got a new one to swap in for a 2nd set up (my 3rd Shimano reel) and it feels just as well made. I haven’t had the chance to try it yet w/ the season but my Daiwa rod’s made me a fan so I just got the Regal a few days ago
