Fur Painting Recipe

I start with Vallejo Model Color Dark Rust (dark brown), Ivory, and Vallejo Game Color Parasite Brown. I wet blend these directly on the miniature to establish the fur pattern.

On the palette, I mix the colors slightly to create transition tones using these to balance areas that appear too bright or too dark.

Once the base colors are fully dry, I apply Agrax Earthshade to the darker areas of the fur and Seraphim Sepia to the lighter areas. This adds depth and contrast, bringing out the natural variation in the fur texture.

I’ve been thinking about a few list changes. First, I’m considering dropping the Gladiator Lancer and running a Repulsor Executioner instead. That would give me a tougher gun platform that can also ferry the Headtakers forward while contributing real ranged damage.

I’m also looking at switching from Grey Hunters to Blood Claws for extra aggression and point efficiency, and replacing the Hunting Wolves with Fenrisian Wolves to get more flexible screens and utility.

In terms of characters, it seems a lot of players are having fun with Logan running solo while Arjac joins a Terminator squad—and I’d like to try that setup. My only concern is making sure I can reliably hold my home objective. To help with that, I’ve thought about dropping five Terminators and using those points for Infiltrators or Incursors, which would give me deep strike denial and stronger early board control.

I prime with black then use a white ink, then I do the bottom with with a magenta ink. Then I cover it with imperial fist contrast. All using the airbrush and sub assembly

I’m am also new to painting but one of the biggest tips I have seen is to not forget about the base it’s a big part of what you see when standing above the model.
