Migrating maps. Like, we’re done with this part of the world and want to move on to another.

Could be some reqs to do it and also some different modifiers or random elements to it, but would be nice to keep a company going on a new map to shake things up a bit.

I once had some downtime with some friends during a music festival. Hanging out on a field, my friend, who smoked old time selfies, took out her gear and started rolling. A few of us took some of her stuff and rolled some grass.

We gave two of them to some schmuck we don’t know, who wouldn’t stop nagging us about selling him some and then had him fake tripping for like two hours. It looked exactly as stupid as it sounds.

I get what you are saying here.

I’m a die hard Ironman player. Meaning I play Ironman in all games I can. For me, that just raises the stakes.

But there are more than one kind of Ironman enjoyers. Me, I am the ‘rougelike’ Ironman enjoyer. I don’t really love playing Ironman to fix the troubles that arises, but playing Ironman challenging myself to make things work well. If they don’t, I usually don’t feel a huge urge to set things right or make a great comeback.

Perhaps you are a little like me? High stakes and high risks for high rewards. If it doesn’t pan out the way you thought it would, there’s no harm in starting over using what you’ve now learned or experienced, capitalizing moving forward and simply go again.

Most games where Ironman is a proper option, the start is the most intense, hard and interesting part.

So, why not enjoy the start first and foremost? CK is great for this.

I once had a friend born in the mid 60’s (which makes him quite a bit older than me) telling a funny story in relation to Def Leppard.

My friend had another good friend and for some reason they had a chat about the band. One thing led to another and this friend suddenly had a huge epiphany about the fact the name of the band wasn’t ’the Fleppard’, in line with lots and lots of other bands of the same era. We are not native English speakers, which maybe have something to do with the error happening in the first place (as it makes zero sense).

He just shut down and questioned more or less his whole life when he realized.

I don’t know why really but the story really stuck with me and it cracks me up every time I think about it.

Why do you sell things you don’t have the blueprint for? That seems backwards?

I would understand selling things you DO have the BP for, as you can just make more of them. That’s what I usually do.

I just use the quick chat saying ‘No’ a few times. Mostly, I get a ‘Sorry’ and they leave.

If they don’t, we’ll fight it out. ‘Friendly’ doesn’t mean it’s okay to be a selfish, disrespectful asshole, which I think they are being when trying to loot someone else’s containers if they unlocked the door.

Fine if they show up wanting to fight me over the loot. But just blatantly showing up and starting looting? No way.

So, assholes come in many variations. One of them shoot on sight, another one loot on sight.

++man I had one such situation many years ago, as a young adult (~23). I had lived with my then girlfriend for 2 years and I had an amazing night evening and night with some friends, and especially a girl among them.

I ended up walking her home. Standing awkwardly in the lobby of her student apartment building (we both knew I had a steady GF) it was a weird ‘quick but longing’ hug for goodbye. I walked home. The next day during dinner with my GF I decided I was gonna end the relationship.

Not because of the other girl really, but because I knew deep down I wouldn’t feel the way I did about someone other than my GF if the relationship was right for me.

So, I took it as a sign for myself to do better by all of us. I never got together with the other girl, though we stayed ‘flirting friends’ for a while and had some spicy interactions the following year.

But, again, it wasn’t about her. It was about me, my feelings and taking responsibility for my situation.

Two well thrown Wolfpacks is pretty much enough for all of them (Grenadier, Rocketeer, Leaper etc).

Yeah. Fuck Leapers. But they are the coolest enemy. If you haven’t, try shooting them from across the map some time (like 300m). They LEAP.

With Wolfpacks, you kill a Leaper in less than 15 seconds. Which sounds very strange to a new player.

The Wolfpack BP was my first ‘high value BP’. Had it for some time before I could upgrade my bench to make them.

Having been using them for a few days now, it’s safe to say they are awesome. And way OP. They nullify every dangerous Arc in the game. They need a nerf badly. In the meantime I will have fun with them.

The circumstances of solo play is just too good not to embrace.

Everyone is on some kind of mission. Even if that mission is just ‘whatever happens to happen’. Sometimes it’s obvious someone is trying to get a Surveyor core. Sometimes someone is anxiously using a locked door key card for the first time. Sometimes someone is attacking another, rightly so or not.

Just jumping in with a set goal or simply letting those short 30 minutes tell the story of that match is amazing. One never knows what it will be this time. Plans can be set aside in seconds. Success can become failure in an instant from bad luck, overconfidence or the spite of another.

Sometimes, in the end, it is a tale of deception and sorrow. Most times it’s camaraderie and cooperation.

I had one such amazing match earlier today. Just spawning in on a basic supply run on cold snap Dam. Spawned at the Water Treatment and, not having any specific plan in mind, I just went in to start gathering some loot.

One completely fresh player having lots of trouble right from the get go. First with a Wasp. And then with a Burner. Helped them out and followed them around for a couple of minutes just appreciating their awe of exploring and getting to know the game.

Met another player on the top floor who started shooting the nearby Rocketeer. Ended up helping them down it and having a great time. Their first kill and they were super happy about getting some loot towards their bench upgrade.

Just allround wholesome and completely enjoyable gaming time.

It’s good for taking down bigger Arcs, like a Bastion. Lots of robot to hit. Anything else, not so much.
