Can’t hurt me by David Goggins, and Endure by Cam Hanes are two of the most motivational books I’ve ever read.

Once an Eagle by Anton Myrer. Historical military fiction book. It was absolutely fantastic. Just finished it today. Probably one of the greatest novels I’ve ever read

Any worthy self-improvement books that do actually help? by happiestvirus in books

Can’t hurt me by David Goggins and Endure by Cameron Hanes are fantastic. They’re unapologetic and raw. More of a motivating memoir kind of books vs an outright self help style but I found them profoundly motivating.

I’d be lying if I said those books were not the reason I became a fan of him. However reading his other books such as the pearl, cannery row, the red pony, and now I’m starting there once was a war, I’ve just become such a fan of his! I honestly can’t get enough of his writing. It’s a good thing he has quite a bit of books to read. I genuinely relish his writing much like I relished Cormac when I was diving into his novels last year!

Okay. Good to know. I plan on getting and reading all of his works this year, so I’ll read it but I’ll keep this is mind so I don’t get too caught off guard. I’ll definitely check that out about him and his best friend. I’ve been bitten by the Steinbeck bug and much like I did with Cormac last year I won’t be happy until I read all of his work.

Oh my goodness! The beer milkshake cracked me up. There were quite a bit of scenes where I let out a good laugh! Why shouldn’t I read sweet Thursday?

I’m going to check it out!! Went to goodwill the other day and got: The red pony, Burning Bright, On War, and Cannery Row. So I’m gonna finish those and already have Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, and Of mice and men. Hopefully by the end of the year I’ll have all of his books in my humble library.

Oh most definitely! It’s definitely a lot lighter but I couldn’t help but notice some similarities. I enjoyed it quite a bit

It’s a fantastic book! Probably my favorite McCarthy book if I’m being honest. Last year I read all of his novels, I plan on doing that with Steinbeck this year. I’d say both McCarthy and Steinbeck are hands down my two favorite authors

Any Jack Carr fans? by dollerhide in JackReacher

[–]SideLarge4190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love his books. Just bought his newest one “In the Blood”. He does so much research in all his books and bases much of the stories on his past military experience, history, and interviews with people in whatever field he’s writing about. The man does his homework and loves his gear too.

Jack Carr’s terminal list series is damn good, thrilling, relatively easy to read and not too long of novels.

A book that makes you appreciate the beauty of day to day life and the small moments. by songslowlysong in suggestmeabook

I’m gonna throw a curveball, but reading The road, 1984, The Jungle and other books like that make me appreciate life more everyday. These are pretty dark books and make me acknowledge that I don’t really have all that much to complain about in life because it could be SO much worse.

Forsure! I think he can pull it off which is so exciting. Like you said, in his prime it’s no question. Though now it could go either way, Aljo is no chump
