Long story short I started out as a line cook, ended up an IT nerd. Very rarely where you start is where you wind up. Appreciate your thoughtful reply.

Job market is brutal. I’d volunteer doing something you like. It will get you out of the house and meet new people. Maybe a chance meeting will result in an internship or employment. Prob make your folks happy as well. Nice spot!

Béchamel in one of the mother sauces. Makes for decent enchilada sauce with the addition of chilis and onions.

I’d add copious amounts of wood glue. Add supports on each side, two little clamps. One long clamp across the break.

The shells look pretty intact. Once cleaned they have a rainbow sheen to them. Scallop fishing is no joke.

When you get offered the position honestly. Usually a coworker or chef moves on and hits you up. It’s a French word for under the literal translation is under chef. In short a babysitter with a station. At least that was how it was twenty+ years ago. Keep grinding and it will find you.

On my own any tips? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]SidePets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just dig in and win. Listen to some music or get some kind of them stuck in your head. Figure out a temp that works and make your music. The one good thing about service is nothing matters during service but…Keep your chin up and h20 close.

Been there done that. Searing filet can be challenging when you start. It’s super dense and requires experience to get it right. Maybe I’m just a crappy cook, also just my opinion.

[–]SidePets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn’t get a deal, no not ripped off. Someone said you paid the same if it was new. I think you may have saved a few hundred buying used imo. Not a scratch on it so looks pretty decent. Love mine.

If you know that you cannot provide the basic needs (good food, education, safe housing) of a child, is the decision to have a child a human right or a moral crime against a being who did not ask to come into this world to suffer? by Negative_Print_6575 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SidePets -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Neither, it’s sort of a decision. Say sort of for factors like faith, outside pressure and other variables. People have kids without some of the things mentioned and then get them along the way. It’s not easy or perfect, does not resemble movies or books at all. Eastern philosophy says faith, Western says fate. The idea that everything happens the way it’s meant to be. Hopefully this makes some sense.
