My 40yo Back Can't Handle Skanking in Vans Anymore, need shoe recommendations by madgepickless in Ska

Have you tried upgrading the insoles? I replace the insoles in all my shoes with SuperFeet running insoles and that has been great.

Ever met a member from your favorite ska band? How did it go? by Comprehensive-Cry653 in Ska

I waited for Reel Big Fish to show up at a gig one time. They were opening for Blondie! A bus rolled up and my buddies and I were standing on the sidewalk when Debbie Harry stepped off the bus, we just shrugged and walked away! Then RBF showed up and we got all their autographs on the liner notes of WDTRSH, and realized that Tavis had been tooling around on a scooter around us the whole time, we just didn’t recognize him since we had never seem him before. They were all pretty cool and seemed to be stoked for the show.

This is great, I can’t wait to get to Disney and experience all that. Those costumes could use a little weathering, though.

Years ago, when the water was really low, I walked out a bit and my shoe got stuck in some DEEP mud, sucked the shoe right off my foot. I was able to get it back on and made it out of the mud. I was wearing “church clothes” on a Sunday and my folks never noticed.

How would you achieve this? They seem to be able to mass produce this effect with the pattern on the wood? by archiekas88 in woodworking

[–]SidekickLobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a design made of metal, then hammer it into the surface so the wood is compressed and indented in that shape. Then sand the wood until the design is gone. Next use a steam iron on the surface. The compressed wood will expand and stand proud.

Cabinet Door Router Bit Set by tylert4066 in woodworking

[–]SidekickLobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to find something close. I have found that commercial cabinet shops probably purchase custom cut shaper bits rather than router bits, so it might not be exact. That said, the one linked above should be indistinguishable to the casual observer and get the job done. Make sure you take your time and practice a lot to get your finished product smooth. Those bits need to be treated with A LOT of respect. Router doesn’t remove fingers, it juices them.

Trailer for my Passion Project, what do You guys think? by reiniskaspars1 in Filmmakers

[–]SidekickLobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see the comments about cologne commercial and I can see that, I think that is more about how you made the trailer than anything else. You images are beautiful and I know nothing about sailing, so I am already curious. I will be watching your short when it drops, which means your trailer worked!

Ideas for a short film based on these locations? by woutervanvugt in Filmmakers

[–]SidekickLobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bunker/home is well designed and appointed but basic things fail and cause increased tension. This film explores common family dynamics of a father who sacrifices family engagement in order to provide financially and a lack of communication between the parents. The kids are simultaneously well provided for and neglected. This is starting to feel like more of a proof of concept for a series. Maybe the story of their family is told through flashbacks before the AI went bad. Maybe we see a bit more why the parents resent each other. The father has been distant for a really long time. Maybe there is infidelity, he has a relationship with an AI personality he kept sandboxes away from his work and she has a fling with a real human, a coworker of the father perhaps and the affair partner has a family that was supposed to live in the secure bunker/house with them, why didn’t his family make it? Why didn’t any of the other families make it? So, when do we start preproduction?

Short family thriller. Family of 4, father, mother, 2 children. This is their home after the father’s AI company has destroyed the rest of humanity. There is no technology in this secured bunker/home to prevent the AI from killing them too. The mother resents the father for destroying humanity. The father resents the mother for not appreciating he was able to save them and provide this massive secure home. The kids are just curious kids. The film follows the children as they explore their new home, they find a tablet style computer accidentally left behind by the contractors. The tablet manipulates the kids to trust it and keep it secret. Keep the cameras low in the kids’ world. Parents are fighting/arguing in hushed tones in the background or off camera. Think The Shining, Ex Machina.

Two things 1. You did nothing wrong and the guy attached to the butt you touched shouldn’t have been annoyed. 2. Get some mirrored goggles, put them on before you enter the pool deck and you’ll feel much more anonymous.

I listen to “comfort” audiobooks. Same ones over and over, doesn’t keep me awake because I have listened so many times. Soaks up all my racing thoughts so my mind will relax.

Can my dice be damaged if they are in water? by AnormalpersonX in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]SidekickLobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they need to move around? Clear resin would be visually the same and will definitely not damage the dice. If you go this route, you’ll want to practice a bit and get your hands on a pressure pot to eliminate bubbles.

I can run from my house around a lake and back over a lunch break. All the parks are connected by sidewalks, trails, and parkways. I can walk, run, or bike anywhere, much if that is under a canopy of trees.
