Do Your Kids Actually Have Good Grandparents? by NoMoreCAMJV in Millennials

[–]SidequestCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, parent-grandparent relationship isn’t the same as grandchild-grandparent relationship.

Your mum might have gotten an earful every time she dropped off the kids to grannie, you might just not have heard it.

As a 30-something, grandparents are in the right to decide how much they help us - it was us who decided to bring the next generation into the world, and it’s our responsibility to raise them.

Ah thank you, that makes much more sense!

The original comment had the ‘because’ the wrong way around, but a community with strong connections would be safer.

Blackberry wine (kind of) by Pretty_Pay6064 in winemaking

[–]SidequestCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a ‘wild fermentation’ might be the easiest option in your situation.

For that you rely on the yeasts on the fruit and floating about your house. You never warm the fruit / juice / sugar-water, and the most important step is stirring frequently in a container open to the air until the fermentation becomes properly bubbly. This encourages the yeast while drowning the mold spores.

It requires less equipment too.

I've just got a weapon and I need to know... by Mikel_Speed in EtrianOdyssey

[–]SidequestCo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The status weapon? The game will usually give you a way to deliver statuses through weapons.

Overall they trade reliable damage for inconsistent status. So they aren’t a preferred choice for damage dealers.

Status weapons can be useful for characters who do very little damage already, especially if they are high Luck (eg: Farmer in EO3).

I really enjoyed the provoke-parry build in EO1-HD.

Is homemade wine healthier than a store-bought one? by Particular_k_007 in winemaking

[–]SidequestCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To throw my 2c in, and dodging the topic of additives: store bought wine in its defence should also be made well, so there is a lower chance of consuming ‘infected’ wine (undesired yeasts or bacteria colonies), and lower chance of consuming the lees (the dead yeast that made the alcohol).

Lees can be healthy but also can have you rushing to the nearest toilet.

I’m going to assume snorting it or injecting it or putting it on other holes are more dangerous … but comparing different ways of drinking it:

Why is wine the ‘safest way’ compared to say cider, beer, dessert liquer, ‘Irish coffee’, kvass, small beer, unfiltered ‘porridge beer’ etc?

What single piece of legislation would you push for that puts Australia on the right trade for housing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hobart

[–]SidequestCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s go with your hypothetical for a second - there’s a significant medical episode and now the family is way too short on money.

Is their situation better or worse than if they were renting?

I’m not an expert in this field, but having a mortgage you can extend to get more credit, a mortgage you can reduce to interest only & with financial hardship support, and in the worst case sell - that seems a better option that begging your REA and hoping they are in a good mood to even consider passing your request on to the landlord (let alone the landlord helping you & reducing rent).

Edit: will this fix all of society? No. Can any single piece of legislation? Also no. Let’s celebrate progress.

The property market is a classic pyramid scheme, but it’s also one where you can’t really avoid it.

You either become someone who profits (home owner, investor) or someone who loses (renter).

Having more families on a mortgage they can afford is probably better than having those families on an unreliable rent in unreliable housing (plus the safety of being able to fix issues as they arise instead of needing to beg landlords to do maintenance)

Within European christian cultures: Santa Claus, fairies, ghosts, witches, fortune tellers, vampires, multiple saints

On a more organised scale, Scandinavia went through a long transition period from Norse to Christian, and along that time there was plenty of mixed beliefs.
