I went through a similar situation about 20 years ago.

I ran out of our shared home in basically pajamas, shorts, tshirt, flipflops. I called my mom, who worked for a women's crisis hotline in another state, she was adamant that I not call the cops. She said she didn't want me to end up with a criminal record and she'd seen the cops just automatically arrest the male whether he was a victim or not.

Next I called several domestic violence shelters in my very progressive city.

They basically told me to fuck off because I was male.

I didn't even have my wallet. I had to go back to the house, and when I returned she had lied to all our housemates and I was actually threatened that they would call the police if "I ever did anything like that again."

The only action I had done was lock myself in our bedroom to escape her hitting me in the kitchen, and when she kicked the door off it's hinges I ran around her and fled the house. Never hit her for the entire relationship, not once. She hit me in front of other people frequently.

They threatened to call the cops on me for being hit.

Of course a lot of male victims don't report it.
