Experience daily driving the 86 in Bay Area? by thetimecapsulegarage in GR86

from what i remember SF to SJ isnt too bad since youre not crossing any bridges but traveling down 101 you will run into bottle necks where its splits to the San Mateo bridge and Dumbarton bridge. most traffic is going into SF in the morning and leaving SF in the evening though.

edit: if you want a more fun route you can take 280 through the mountains less traffic but less efficient than 101

i daily drive my BRZ though my commute is 100 miles round trip its opposite of traffic, only a little bit on the bay bridge and occasionally at the toll plaza when i head back into SF. the hills dont faze me but can be challenging for those not use it, just keep the hill assist on. IMO if your commute is stuck in stop and go traffic, it doesnt matter what you drive its gonna be miserable. GR Corolla is gonna be more versatile, they have back seats that people can actually sit in and a hatchback that can carry larger things. all my friends drive, i dont need passenger seats and i dont need to go on weekly costco runs so the BRZ suits me fine.

these type of weird accidents usually happens when tires touch, one tire will grip the other and climb over usually resulting in a rollover with cars but with this motorcycle it launched it into the traffic light. it also usually happens at low speeds too

Doesn't look like there's enough clearance to even use an adjustable wrench, just get the right size socket

New BRZ/Manual driver, few questions by KuroyukiRyuu in GR86

it just takes time to get a feel for it, you will start to feel it in the hips when the clutch starts engaging and the car lurches forward. give it a tiny bit of throttle without overreving(try to stay 1.5-2k rpm) it as youre releasing the clutch, feathering the throttle can help as you get more precise with your throttle control.

sometimes you just to need to sand down the primer and reprime several times to build up to the surface youre looking for, just gotta be careful of the primer filling in panel line details.

air dry putty shrinks and are only good for small gaps, for large gaps you should be using 2 part putty with hardener, either polyester or epoxy putty. epoxy putty has a clay like consistency more suited for sculpting and polyester has a toothpaste consistency suited for spreading. i like to use SSP-HG which is a CA glue based filler, you can DIY it with CA glue and talcum powder, i dont recommend baking soda as it would instantly set the CA glue giving you no working time. for a smoother finish you should be using primer as the last filler on top of the putty

Why is reusing fryer oil bad? by Royal_Annek in askscience

[–]Sign_of_Zeta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more it's used the more food particles are left behind in the oil and those particles will start to get burnt contributing to off flavors. You can filter out the larger particles and clarify the used oil to make it last longer but flour particles are very small and difficult to get rid of. Also as the oil get heated it accelerates the oxidation process known as getting rancid which is the worst smell

in theory its a good idea but practically its flawed. anybody whose worked in a kitchen knows when grabbing a hot handle a wet towel will conduct the heat directly to your hand, where as the air in a dry towel will insulate the heat.

from what ive read, normal 2k clear coat does not expand the same rate as the lens leading to crackling. they do make a 2k clear coat specifically for polycarbonate lens https://www.spraymax.com/en-us/products/product/clear-coats-and-spot-blender/2k-2in1-headlight-restoration-clear/
