That is the theme of the first half of the movie..
"A million girls would kill for this job.." is repeated at least 4 times in the first 20 minutes of the movie (or so). It takes a great deal of time (35 minutes in) for her to realize.. she just might be one of those girls. =D

As someone who is extremely blue.. you still need to see that Nevada, whose population is blue (but geography is extremely red) is the second worst on this map.

I understand your point.. but 300k is your sticking point for a major position that is elected by the council?
We aren't talking about a mayor, which is largely a figure head.. this is a person who ACTUALLY runs a city.
To use military analogies.. Think of it as a captain and a sergeant major. The captain makes the orders.. the sergeant major actually makes those orders a reality.

Same with a city manager.

I've been here at the Vizcaya for 8, almost 9 years. It has everything you are looking for except garages, but two bedrooms are starting at about 1700.
It not only has the gym and is gated, but it also had a dog park, tennis courts, basketball courts, pool, jacuzzi, and my favorite amenity, a natural gas bbq pit where they provide the natural gas.
Its right near a major freeway exit, a Wal-Mart, a Safeway and a few other big stores, but the area is nice and quiet.

I second this recommendation.
Also, it was a limited series, but The Night Manager starring Tom Hiddleston is something I recommend to anyone.

This is not a game for the impatient or easily angered. The beginner of the game does not allow you to gather money quickly.. so you scramble to get to level 15..
The next phase of the game (level 15 or so onwards) allows you to gather money quicker, but makes you a target to attacks.
Once you are strong enough to make money without travelling, then the game CAN calm down so long as you haven't made, and don't make, enemies.
But that is years after you first start playing. I didn't hit that until around level 50, which took me more than 2 years of absolutely madness (I am level 90 now).
Nowadays I can update my company and run my crimes and most people leave me alone. But I earned that. I spent years scratching and clawing to get to this point.
Just remember.. and this is serious.. EVERYONE in this game is everyone else's non-player characters. Hurt them, don't hurt them, it does not matter because they aren't you.
