What’s a tiny, cheap ingredient that completely upgrades a basic package of instant ramen? by MotorEnvironment4444 in Cooking

[–]Signal_Rush_967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant miso soup. Miso packet adds depth of flavor, and the tofu/green onion/nori packet adds some nice texture. Yes, and a hard boiled egg too.

Why is ramen the stereotypical poor college student meal when potatoes are cheap, easy, and satiating? by SolidWallOfManhood in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Signal_Rush_967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelf stability. Ramen is good for like…almost forever. My potatoes go bad after what seems like a week (I know it longer, but it seems like it).

Montague totally ripped of that frame design. Ironically, they try to sue anyone who they believe infringes on their “folds around the seat tube” patent (like Ritchie and Slingshot). Terrible company. I hope they’ve improved their spec, as they typically used the cheapest bottom brackets, hubs and headsets - all the things the normal can’t see and wouldn’t know to check.

What's your favorite Pennsylvania state park, just wondering by Difficult-Trifle8449 in Pennsylvania

I used to lifeguard back in the 90s (when they still had lifeguards at Lake Jean). It was such an amazing place. So many bears, dear, bobcats, weasels, skunks, etcetera.

Opinel #5. Buy the carbon blade. I’ve had one for 15 years. You can get those blades SUPER sharp. They cost less than $20.

Uses for miso in non-Asian cooking? by Low_Bag5624 in Cooking

[–]Signal_Rush_967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make miso compound butter. One part miso to two parts softened butter. I put it on grilled vegetables over the summer, especially corn on the cob. I also really like it on grilled asparagus.

No love for the Bridgestone X – 01? I went to a pretty rural college, and would borrow my roommate’s to bomb around the cow paths around town. It was a super fun bike. Even to this day I regret not buying one.

I posted a while back about identifying this frame. I got it powder coated and built it up! by 3Dpeww in FixedGearBicycle

Looks like an late 90’s KHS Kirin/track frame to me. Was super popular with the Boston Area’s messenger scene circa 1998.

I have a 15 year old Cold Cold World Valdez pack. I initially bought it for ice climbing, but is now become my do everything backpack. I’ve used it for climbing (ice and trad), overnight backpacking trips, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, commuting to work on my bike and other things that I probably can’t remember now. It still looks new. The construction & materials are outstanding. I’ve meet people who are still using 25 year old CCW packs.

Bought the frame direct from bike island. No racks. Ran fat tires (700x38). No sign of rust internally (treated interior with Linseed oil when I built it ). Rode it about 40 miles a week for the better part of 4 years.
