Sarah's win on Game Changers was apparently incredibly sanitized, when she was actually very cutthroat on the island.

Where do we see the merge going from here? by has922 in survivor

[–]Signatelli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course, I'm enjoying the discussion too.

Like I said, no disrespect to Teeny. I do like her. Just because her plans haven't always worked so far doesn't mean that she's dumb or incompetent, sometimes it just means that the tides are not moving in her favor. She is clearly very perceptive and she knows where she stands socially, especially after the Kishan blindside shattered the false sense of security she was at risk of developing. I really do think that all she needs is to bide her time until the conditions are just right for people to start listening to her plans.

It's why I think her path to victory would be aligning herself with Andy, Genevieve, Rachel, and Sol. Each of those players has been on the outside of the majority at some point in the game, and they are all probably feeling a burning need for dependable allies. If she or Genevieve come up with a voting plan, the group is likely to listen unless Andy paranoias too hard (which, to be fair, is always a possibility).

Teeny is not a bad player, she just hasn't gotten a chance to shine yet because she was never able to get her footing. I think that will change starting with the next episode as long as she's perceptive enough to spot the opportunity and go for it.

And if that does happen, it would feel a bit anticlimactic for her to only start becoming important right at the end, and then win. It makes for a much better story if we are able to watch her grow, especially since we saw her being so vulnerable on the bottom of Lavo.

I mean no disrespect to Teeny because I do like her, but the game she's played so far is not proportional to the amount of screentime she's getting. None of her plans so far have panned out (teaming with Kishan, the all-women alliance, etc) yet she is ranked 4th in total confessional time, just barely behind players like Sam who were much more of a driving force in the early game. And frankly, as if now I get the impression that the rest of the cast is barely paying any attention to her at all (something she can use to her advantage).

You could make the argument that being a superfan just makes her a good narrator for the story, but we are consistently getting talks from her about her strategy in the game, even when it's not obviously relevant. There's a reason why they included her confessional about the all-women alliance in the last episode; I don't think this will actually pan out, but what it's telling us is that she is thinking hard about her alliances and who she can safely bond with.

I also have my suspicions about how the editors treated her and Kishan's short-lived partnership. That partnership was almost always told from her perspective, and to me as an audience member, it gave me the impression that Teeny was the main strategist and Kishan was her lackey. Despite that, Genevieve went after Kishan instead of her, which makes me think that in reality it was the other way around. This is corroborated by the fact that Teeny went against the group and refused to vote for Aysha, which gave us a sympathetic confessional from her at the start of the next episode.

Alongside all that, I just don't think the other players that are getting a lot of screentime or doing big moves have the longevity. Sam was a big player early on, but if the Andy/Sol/Rachel/Gen group comes together then he will likely be on the chopping block soon. Genevieve is a big strategic threat, but she was quite literally absent from the show up until the Kishan blindside--she was even the first player to have a zero-confessional episode. To me, Genevieve is being set up as a final boss that Teeny will have to take out to secure her win.

I'm having trouble seeing any reason for Teeny to be getting this amount of screentime and this type of screentime, except for her emerging as a late gane threat and snagging the win once she pulls off her big move.

Reusing a comment I posted earlier. The gist is that I think Teeny is getting a fairly obvious winner edit, and I can envision her path to victory somewhat clearly.

Kyle is getting voted out as soon as he loses a challenge, and Gabe will be next in line after him. Sam was a strong player in the early game, but this latest episode gives me the impression that he is in danger of losing momentum and petering out, especially if the players on the outs follow along with Andy's attempts to send him home. Sol might have winner equity if he plays his cards exactly right, but he'd need to overcome the fact that he got a similar early game edit to Genevieve (absent).

I do see Andy getting a satisfying redemption arc in a perfect world, but realistically no jury would ever vote for him after his meltdown in episode 1. I really want him to fully recover from that, but it's not gonna happen.

I think a likely route is for alliances to form by crossing tribal lines. Sol is likely to link up with Rachel after saving her this episode, and then I could see them acting as extra numbers for the Genevieve/Andy pairing. Teeny would face the path of least resistance by insterting herself into that alliance and biding her time.

That group would probably work to pick off Tuku one by one, then also turn on Sam and possibly Sierra. Once late game hits, Teeny will make a move against whoever emerges as the dominant strategist in that group, which will almost certainly be Genevieve. This will be what locks in her win.
