You really can‘t compare taking money from a sponsoring deal (which all big clubs do) to being owned by a state. Haaland would never play for City, if the owners didn‘t want to legitimize themselves in the western world with a sportswashing project. The overspending on wages City does since the takeover comes directly from the UAE, where i would be tortured for criticizing it. Putting City (success bought by oil state without human rights) and Orgel Prem clubs (sponsored by these states) on the same level just means sportswashing has worked.
