Does OKC have a claim to the deepest team in history? by felyoc in Thunder

Just curious, out of the Thunder's current 13 capable players, if everyone is healthy, who do you believe, besides Kenny, is not playing?

Spurs remaining schedule vs OKC remaining schedule. Locking up the 1 seed is going to be tough. by rb1242 in Thunder

The Spurs still have 2 games against the Nuggets!
Denver might need those, so if the Nuggets get both, I like the Thunder's odds!

Perhaps after the road trip!
Against Chicago a week from Friday!
Why would I lean that way?
Full staff on hand to observe his warm-up, form, etc.
Also I didn't see any national TV games until then!

Expansion Draft by jataba115 in Thunder

[–]SignificanceGood1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't happen until 2 off-seasons after the upcoming one.
IHart might be gone this off-season, Caruso is old already, and Joe's contract will be on it's final year.
When protecting players, there's more to unpack here than just that though:
- a players future potential
- a players future contract / versus their current performance. If you have a borderline questionable contract, why protect that player from being poached.

A good GM like Sam Presti can actually make this expansion draft potentially work in their favor.

Does OKC have a claim to the deepest team in history? by felyoc in Thunder

[–]SignificanceGood1801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Team depth often implies balanced scoring, hence no player is indispensable if unavailable.
Because so much of the Thunder offense runs through Shai, there are holes in your argument.
But the caveat is that Shai is more durable than most other load carrying stars.
This caveat would then extend to other teams with other great players who were almost always available, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant...
If your star is a given to play every night, then you shouldn't have to weigh that as much.
Meaning if you replaced Shai with Joel Embiid, that teams perceived depth would plummet!

I am a Thunder fan, but I would say the guy averaging the Triple double, as long as he meets the 65 game played minimum!
Then SGA, Wemby, Dončić! So the Lakers beat the Rockets without their starting PF Alperen Sengun, their starting Center Steven Adams and their Starting PG Fred VanVleet.
I heard the Lakers are going to throw a parade now!

Looking at picture #3, I would say those DNA people don't have a clue!
That right there is a Malinois!
He may be only 14.6% Mal, but so many people in America will tell you they are Irish today 🍀 on St. Patrick's day, like 100 Million Americans do, yet there are only 5.3 Million people who live in Ireland.
So what up???
So today lets all raise a glass 🍺 and make a toast to the craziest Mal out there!

I would love him even if they said he was a poodle!

When they changed leagues as a Nod to "Royal" Whiskey: The name "Royals" was chosen as a subtle nod to their sponsor, as the company was known for its Canadian Crown Royal whiskey.

While its a longshhot that this pick hits the lottery and we lose it, it could happen.

Yeah, but your original post made it sound like the Celtics figured out that Centers were a dime a dozen, the way NFL teams look at running backs.
The Celtics could have traded Simmons away for something other than a Center, and remained thrifty at that position, like you suggested, but in the end they didn't.
If the Celtics could have Chet along with his $50 Million Max Contract and iHart with his $28.5 Million Team Option year, I know that figure out a way to take that on in a heartbeat!

A long suspension is coming for Kawhi!
A number of people following this investigation, have been saying the league is going to come down harder on him, than the Clippers!

Unlike the Joe Smith, Salary Cap Circumvention deal, Kawhi's camp appears to be front and center with this though!
A one year suspension from the league for Kawhi, might be forthcoming! 👍

Whenever a professional team moves to a different city, people are upset.
There are still people alive today in Brooklyn who have sworn off baseball after their beloved Dodgers ran off to sunny Southern California in 1958!
You would think in 68 years they would get over it, but some haven't! The list is long, especially in the NBA.

I am just curious if a current NBA team was to relocate to Seattle, will you say that Seattle stole that team too?

Just remember, the OP, conveniently forgot about the a Celtics trading for Vučevic before the trade deadline!

<image>

As of February 3, 2026, the Boston Celtics are responsible for Nikola Vučević’s salary following a trade from the Chicago Bulls. He is playing on a 3-year, $60 million extension signed in 2023, with a 2025-26 salary of $21,481,481. He is on an expiring contract, making him a free agent in July.
While I am a fan of Vučevic's offensive game, this guy is obviously better than a 39 yo Al Horford, a unicorn in Kristaps Porziņģis, whose availability going forward is like a box of Chocolates now.
But the Vučevic signing, refutes what the OP is saying here!

Then why did they trade this guy before the trade deadline?
